  1. You do know that SWTOR has been in development since 2006. Thats a good 6 years in the making. Just look at the number of bug fixes they have already implimented. 6 years in the making and they couldnt run the beta for a couple of months more to fix the main issues? No they wanted it release it at Xmas to make the money from the hype. Makes business sense but will they keep their customers? Only time will tell or until Diablo 3 comes out.
  2. They could always do a Duke Nuken Forever and replace the game engine...a couple of times lol
  3. I like the game. I wouldn't be playing it otherwise. I just can't understand the reasoning behind chosing the Heroengine over any other well known engine. Plus I'm sure I am not the only one who would like the game to run better?
  4. Hi all and Bioware. I have been doing some research into the bad FPS problems that people are having. I myself have a decent system that can run all the games I throw at it at 60 fps 95% of the time in max detail (see bottom for system specs) Swtor on the other hand drops FPS significantly in the imp/rep fleets and warzones. Now the imp/rep fleets are understandable due to the number of players. However for warzones its different. Say civil war start. I can see out the ship window, at the whole zone with my team stood next to me. 60 fps solid. As soon as the game starts and I jump down to fight it drops to 25-30 fps. I did an experiment by turning off all the graphics settings, shadows, AA etc. while stood in Civil war. Still no change in FPS. I put all the graphics settings on maximum everything. Still no change in FPS. Changing the resolution. No change in fps....... So it got me thinking. Is it my PC or the game at fault. SWTOR uses the Heroengine. Ok it is meant to be designed for MMO games. How many games have been released using the Heroengine.......2 so far including SWTOR and I haven't heard of the other one... Why did Bioware chose the Heroengine when the same company is using the Unreal engine 3 for their Mass Effect games? The unreal engine is a proven good engine for many games and can run high detailed environments with no problems. Would it be good for an MMO? Below is a list of some MMOs that use the unreal engine. Lineage 2 DC Universe online Global Agenda TERA The unreal engine has produced some great looking games in the past and will do in the future. I really don’t understand why Bioware wanted to use the Heroengine but would you base your multi million pound MMO on an engine that has been used for only 1 other game? I know I wouldn’t....... If you want proof that the game engine is seriously flawed. Stand in any zone, do CTRL + Shift + F to see your FPS. Then open and close your inventory/character screen fast and watch your FPS drop to <10. That to me says there is something wrong. - My whole guild confirmed it happens to them too. Not only that SWTOR has 2 processes running. One will only use 1.2-3Gb of RAM and the other 250MB.... Weird that it won’t use more. Fix the engine and you got a great game with a lot of potential. Dont fix the engine and games like Guild Wars 2 /TERA which look pretty and will probably run at a good frame rate will steal your customers. My system specs Intel i7 @ 2.8GHz 6GB Ram ATI HD 5850 1024MB Catalyst 11.2 Game running on a OCZ Vertex 2 SSD Windows 7 Pro 64Bit
  5. I dont believe I mentioned the word inbalance at all and it was a comparision of amount of players overall. The ilum numbers show that ilum was pretty empty on the Uthar Wynn server. Faction inbalance would have to be address in another way but the point I was making is that some of the servers have a lack of people to do OPS/FM/WZ with regardless of which side you are on.
  6. I would consider Tuesday evenings as peak time due to patch/raid reset just like Wednesday evenings was peak time for Wow EU. I checked the server list on the forums at this time and the majority were standard population so I am not sure when the last time you had a look was?
  7. The problem with cross realm FP/OPS/WZ is that you lose your sense of realm rivalry. I have gotten into that love to hate relationship with a few of the sith guilds and we have some proper good warzones with them. When WoW did that you lost that feeling and people just stopped being civil to eachother. Cross realm pugs - never meet the same person again so everyone is generally elitist/nasty. People are attacted to busier servers - more people to do things with. Therefore the less populated servers become even less populated. Thats why even though WoW had cross realm FP/OPS/WZ equivalent they still did free character server migration.
  8. Basic maths.....more like the inability to read someones post properly.......
  9. I believe my post was talking about not actually having enough people to do content with rather than faction imbalance. The faction imbalance would still remain but at least the republic side wouldnt have an empty republic fleet...
  10. Use the command /ginvite name There is no add member button
  11. Hello all, I was trying to do a guild raid last night on the server Uthar Wynn (sandard population at peak time (7pm) and we needed to pug 1 healer. I was looking for 1.5 hours and couldnt find a single healer to come with us. I whispered all the level 50 classes who could heal and i got no replies at all. It is very similar for the hardmodes. A few people trying to get groups together but unable to find people to do it with. Since the latest patch the Republic side just feels dead and empty. I did a brief count of the level 50s on this server by doing a /who 50 "class name" and then adding up all the numbers (as 100 is the maximum search results i could get a better picture of activity this way). I did the same thing on the Empire side and then compared these results to a Very Heavy population server (Legions of Lettow). Uthar Wynn - 7pm level 50 count Republic -164 Empire - 365 Ilum 6 Republic vs 20 Empire Legions of Lettow 7pm level 50 count Republic - 300 Empire 659 Ilum 45 Republic vs 76 Empire As you can see there are more than twice as many players on this server. The general chat and trade chat windows are full of people looking for groups. It just seems a lot more active. Looking at the server status overall the majority of English EU servers are Standard population levels at peak times with about 3 Heavy, 2 Very full and 1 Full. In my experience of MMO's having played a lot of them including WoW for 7 years. When a server has a low population people either move to another server therefore making the problem worse or stop playing all together. My guild at the start of the game had about 120 active people in it. Now it is down to about 20 active people. I am therefore contemplating leaving my level 50 full columi geared tank to go play on a populated server. Please Bioware could you merge some servers together to make some heavy/very heavy populations to keep the active players interested and able to do guilds/FP/OPS without having to start all over again. Thanks
  12. I also agree that guardian tanking tree is a bit crappy. Infact the vigilance tree has some great tanking talents in it. 20% reduction on force leap 20% reduction for guardian leap on you 4% stamina 6% strength for more threat Plus decent threat generation over all so at the moment im tanking with 5/5 columi and 7/31/3 spec... Tanked eternity vault and karrags palace with this spec No dual spec but who needs it when my spec is good for pvp and tanking too.....
  13. Hi, Great game so far. However the ship droid C2-N2 is just so anoying. Every time i send him out for my professions he says one of his super long anoying phrases every time rather than a simple beep like T7. It very quickly wears off. Does he anoy anyone else? Please give the option to either turn him into scrap metal or shut him up. Thanks
