  1.

I mainly play Pub as a Sage healer and I used to play a little bit with Hostile Takeover and Hoth Ski Patrol back during the twilight days of Pot5. I might be wanting to tryout if some of these guilds allow once I'm able to get back into the swing of how the game plays.

Heya talon, a few of us from Hostile Takeover are playing pub and imp side on Harbinger. Look for me, molo, Gusbus, or buckwildjoe, and we'd be happy to team up. It's just the four of us these days though.

  2. But it really doesn't matter. From what I hear, the expertise loss translates to a whopping 1% decrease. This is compensated for by the increased cunning from the PvE mods. On top of that, the 15% buff to the AoE also easily makes this an easy choice.

Can't really blame the necro, as there's not a ton of info regarding this. I recently got the PvE 2 piece for 15% more on kolto cloud which puts me at 1936 expertise bolstered. Outside of war zones it's garbage (1600) but meh, what really goes on outside of WZs in this game anyway.

The only thing I'm jelly of are pre 2.0 scouparative healers who have 30% bonus on kolto cloud :-(

  3. It's a really silly argument. Thats a big IF to think you can get electrocute off (on GCD) before my resilience (off the global cooldown). You're very confident ill give up that, but you should sometimes consider the possibility that your not always right. It makes for a better living experience.
  4. The only problem with doing this every time is it makes you predictable. So you low slashed follow up by mind crush. Your enemy can now pop shroud and you don't have low slash to counter it.
  5. I understand the OP's concern but I'm coming at it from another angle. I need to pick up a 2 pc pvp set bonus for my PvE character which I've pvp'ed with only a handful of times (for the Partisan SA relic after 2.0 dropped and now for boots/gloves).

I have literally no interest in PvP and would not queue at all were it not for wanting this set bonus for PvE.

My gear is PvE; optimized 72 with a few 75 armoring/mods.

I genuinely empathize for the teammates Ill be placed in queue with because I know that I am not going to be very good at it, and will likely not contribute much to my team compared to folks like you all. I will certainly try my best, play the objective, listen to callouts and call out myself where needed. I understand most gametypes, although I struggle with Huttball so I leave queue when that gametype pops.

I always say upon entering lobby "I am not very good at this at all, and don't pvp much so if anyone has a preference for where you'd like me to head to first just let me know" and I rarely hear anything.

I'm not sure what else I'm supposed to do but I really want to acquire these two armorings so I just try my best and hope my team is good enough to win with a less than productive teammate.

Question: (the reason Im in this forum to begin with) - someone said to me at the start of the last match that I'd be better off in green gear than using my PvE gear. I have googled bolster but Im not sure I understand it completely. Should I be putting on crap gear?

The PVE gear that bolsters the best expertise wise is 58s-63s. In your position having 72s and 75s is going to bring your expertise to around 1300-1500. If you wanna keep pvping casually I'd try to just get full min/max partisan. It won't take you very long, probably a week at most. As for improving just take note of where key points in each map are. It sounds like uou already have a head for teamplay and objectives, which is more than can be said about most pugs. Keep at it and things will look up for you!

  6. As a returning player from patch 1.5(ish) I am wondering if there are still dominant hybrid specs like the old darkness/deception hybrid or the deception/madness hybrid. Currently as pure deception i feel like my damage is good, but i die so quickly it doesn't really matter. So, any help?

Deception is very much position dependent. If you charge into 3 or 4 enemies without any support you will definitely be melted. Perhaps you would like 2/31/13. Picking up death field can help add some utility to the spec for stopping caps and decent AOE dmg. It plays pretty much like full deception with the exception that fully buffed shocks won't grant you stacks for discharge. (Less priority on double strike).

I think what the previous poster was saying was know when to attack and when not to. It will go a long way with survivability.

  7. If you think deception is fine mate, then you need a checkup. The burst is just dumb, and needs nerfing. I can understand you might not think so if you don't know how to maximize it's potential though.

No offense dude, Cycao knows how to play the spec just fine. I'd put my money on him over most of the randoms who just wanna run around and derp the whole game (still only achieving 200k in a full length match).

Deception has nice burst, but as stated in the past it shines in regs where getting out of combat is much easier to achieve. Try going into rateds with recklessness and vanish both on cool down. Then tell me how stupid the burst is.

It can still sustain decently, but nowhere on the level of ranged dps and smashers.

What we really need is some synergy with phase walk in dps specs. Perhaps dps sins could achieve better results in rateds if using phase walk could activate the recklessness reset as going out of combat does.

I've played a few games trying a straightforward dps role in rateds (2 shadows total) and I find deceptions damage to be very comparable to a combat sentinels. It can get the job done but the problem is other melee dps (*cough* sentinels) have much more in their arsenal to be beneficial to team play. (I.e. AOE stuns, stupid easy sustained dps, escape mechanisms, the best dps defensive cooldowns)

  8. That's ok no one is forcing you to.

Look man, I really hate to say it but you're taking this doc a little too seriously. I understand everyone's desire to improve and move up the ranking (or perhaps prove themselves to the server) but that doesn't give you the right to set the standards for guild rosters.

This list was an undertaking by Brobi to stir the pot and diversify competition. And it's doing just that. A win is a win, a loss is a loss. If you want to treat a win against a bunch of people playing different roles for FUN and fail to realize how insignificant that is, than I have to agree with one of the previous posters in that you're fishing for wins.

We will continue to play alt rateds because they are good fun, and a chance for people to get comfortable with new classes in a ranked environment.
