  1. Jrea, You are right but I could have swore I saw something a while back about accounts that are not logged in in like sixty days have their names go up for grabs. It was implemented around the same time that the inactive guild rules were put into place. Those being that if nobody in a guild logs in is so long of a time that the next person to log in is instantly promoted to GM and offered a guild name change.
  2. This ^ Possessiveness should not enter the equation. I have no beef with someone IRL that has my same first name. The best option I have seen thus far is to have neither the first or surname unique. Rather, (if possible) have the union of the two be unique and have legacy name be chosen before first character creation and be required to even access the character builder. At that point everyone will just see both your names everywhere you see the one now.
  3. New content is extremely important. I am not taking away from that. However from my understanding that team is split off from the other dev team(s). Instead of paying people to design more new crap for the blasted Cartel Market why not divert some of that team to making a few in game systems make more sense. This thread is about the naming/labeling systems so I will retain that as the example of choice but it isn't the only game system that needs an overhaul in my opinion. Grimly, we are headed toward names like Øßì-ŵąƞ of the Kenobi legacy. Of course in that example that person will be made to change it because it is a EULA infringement but you get my point.
  4. I am bumping this thread. There are still Ubuntu (Hell even Mac) fans out there that want support for a native client.
  5. I will second the bump. HK customizations PLZ!
  6. I hate to necro a 9 month old thread but there needs to be a better name solution than what we have. Almost everyone has to use special characters in their names now because most of the people holding original spellings are sitting inactive. I thought there had been an inactivity clause in name retention but it does not seem effective. You now have to jump through hoops with special characters to invite or mail things now and its ridiculous. This has been changed. You now start out with a legacy name. I propose that they either make the unique identifier the combination of first name and legacy name, make the legacy unique again and make the first non unique (in either case they'd just display the legacy name along side the first.) or use a global identifier system with some careful controls. By careful controls I mean making friends groups options, invisibility options, advanced ignore visibility, etc. so that if a person wants to "excuse themselves" to an alt they can first go invisible before logging out or have it set to always log in invisible. There are ways to make these systems work. The devs just have to exert a bit more effort to innovate instead of falling back on antiquated systems. Come to think of it the games I have played with the option of social invisibility have always made me happier because I could just drop off the radar if I got tired of dealing with people.
  7. I will second this motion. SW:TOR is the only thing preventing me from switching my whole system over to Linux. Native Linux client PLZ!
  8. I would like to take the opportunity to necro this thread. I apologize if there is a current discussion on this topic and would appreciate a link to it. We need to be able to select what card to stream audio through in the game options. I wouldn't think it would be too hard to implement. My need for this is not based on everyone else's reasons. If you plan to DJ in vent you have to be able to segregate game sounds from music/vent. I can manage to play my library from Winamp or VLC by simply switching the player to a static card. However, there are no options to switch Adobe Flash audio output, and if you plan on streaming anything from youtube you must use the windows default card (the same one the game uses). My current solution is to browse and download the content but then you have to deal with deletions later and you can't just browse and play. It winds up being a big hassle. So please add this feature in. It would make my DJing experience so much more fun.
  9. Exactly. I don't care about the goody pack that came with the box. I don't need all the extra toys. I just care about the shop and the pet mouse droid. That vendor has the coolest customizations for Jorgan and Qyzen Fess and some other niceties I wouldn't mind dropping another $10 to access them. I would also like to see this silver model. Something along the design of the Cylon Guardians from Battlestar Galactica I'm thinking.
  10. The only objection I have to that is that if they are going to be updating the CE vendor significantly they need to make a CE or DCE(Digital Collector's Edition) upgrade available to those who couldn't afford CE in the past. I paid $80 for DDE at launch and wanted the CE so bad but I still can't afford it but maybe an upgrade that that would enable the vendor and mouse droid could be feasible. $10-$15 for DDE/upgrade pack owners and $15-$20 for SE owners(includes upgrade pack.) To continually update items on a vendor that is decreasingly available is not a smart move on their part though because the CE subs floating around out there are probably slowly dwindling and that makes their hard development work reach a smaller and smaller target audience.
  11. Hey I have a close to capped gunslinger slicer. Risha is always bringing me those missions. Maybe I could work up a trade of a couple of level 340s that I have laying around...hmmm...
  12. Thanx for the tip. I figured it had to be a rare schematic. I have all skill sets except for arms and armor, that means I'd have to cough up the researched compounds with creds but everything else I can obtain.
  13. I suppose it would be asking God too much that you'd be on Juyo server wouldnt it? I need to find a crafter of it here, especially an overkill one(though I doubt the random enhancement has any bearing on the base stats of it.)
  14. The Two-Finger's Revenge crafted pistol would be a decent mate for the A-300. You can view it here: http://www.torhead.com/item/gdx8Rgz/two-fingers-revenge#comments It has a scope and an extra rail. It would make a better main hand but as it is off hand only it would be just fine. I'll just let everyone think I'm a lefty like I am IRL. Hope this has helped.
  15. Third party software is what comes with the keyboards we were making reference to. Yes it could be viewed as botting but to say that logitech, razer, etc. produce and bundle botting software with their products may have legal ramifications so I'd be careful where I make that statement. If the SW:TOR logo is on it then chances are that EA/BW/LA has reviewed the software and found no problems with it. However, using products without these gaming companies endorsement will most likely have a general macroing software with it that may not be condoned by this particular game's EULA at this time. The reference to my friend getting suspended was made to warn anyone from using unsanctioned software, they have a policing agent coded into the game to report back to the GMs when someone is doing something illegal. You don't have to be seen by anyone nor contacted by a GM, they can just unplug you. For the record I have nothing against limited types of mods and macros. I don't like using combat macros myself but some people find it difficult to play without them. I don't condemn people for using them. Also I think everyone could use a good LF or WTB spam macro from time to time. Addons are fine too but I hope they don't allow the "DBM type" mods because I prefer not to be spoon fed my content. Mouseover healing is a yes, Threat/hate meters are a yes, LDB addons/plugins are a yes, UI/Bar mods are a definite yes. I'm on the fence about damage meters, they are handy if used correctly. Incorrect uses include becoming a meter maid and giving people a hard time if their DPS isn't in the top 5 of the Op. Op utility is not solely measured on how hot your DPS or Heals are. Not to mention that there is no 100% accurate way to determine someone's DPS. They are designed to give a rough estimate of one's damage, not to become an elitist. Also This: With that I am unsubbed to this thread. Goodbye.
  16. They may be in game but they are not condoned. The use of a gaming keyboard's macroing functions beyond simple keystrokes is against the EULA and can wind up getting these people banned. I have to be careful with this myself because I use a G15 Keyboard. EDIT: They will catch you too btw, I know a guy that used his third party software to bind a toggle jump key to prevent afk and used it in a personal instance and got suspended for a day for doing it.
  17. I'm not saying that you should have enough money period from the class chain, I'm saying that for all the basic class skill training(to be able to continue your storyline) yes you should. It just seems logical that the lore that you learn the skills in should pay for the actual skill training. It's largely how an XP skillup system is based and that system is far more immersive than paying for training. I count mounts, crew skills, and other things as luxuries not actually essential to storyline progression. I think the storyline(with some other quests included) should be separated from the rest of the content because to some that's all they want to do and if they are forced to do extracurricular activities for credits their view of the game won't be a very happy one. Making someone pay credits they had to earn through other activities is essentially like putting a heroic (4) quest in the class progression, it requires you to go beyond what you want to do to have fun.
  18. Skills in real life don't cost money, you just find someone to observe, try it for yourself a few times and learn it. It costs money to prove you have the skills(education), skills themselves come from experience. The speeder training is fine where it is at, a speeder is a luxury not a necessity. You shouldn't have to do much more that the class quest line to afford the class skills. They can't up the rewards from the class quests to fulfill the training needs because some will waste it so they are left with discounting the training costs. Don't come in here with the argument that you need to PvP, do space missions, grind out every mission and mob so we can have a stash of credits, you do those things to afford luxuries. The basic tools of survival should be directly proportional to the average rewards you receive from the bare bones quest line. when you make it where you have to participate in aspects of the game you don't enjoy just to make it by, it's called a grind and if I want to waste time not enjoying myself after a hard day's work I don't need SWTOR to do so. I enjoy this game to no end. I will probably play regardless because I learned in 3 months of beta how to play and make money but I speak on behalf of the masses, it doesn't need to cost an arm and a leg to afford the basic necessities. Also, if you are here claiming that you have plenty of cash try going out and casually doing quests. you will afford the class skills up until about thirty then you'll start having to make sacrifices in areas you shouldn't be made to sacrifice. /rant off
  19. This is largely what I do, but the only thing is the abilities keep stacking up and before you know it you'll keep adding more credits to that training allowance you need to pile up until you just have to go farm in lower areas until you have enough to train, or you hit end game at which point the abilities stop piling up giving you a massive opportunity to catch up. Not arguing with you though, you did support my P.O.V. and I thank you for it...I think...lol.
  20. I think you all are confused about what the OP is referring to. By skills I don't think they mean Crew Skills, I think they are talking about your class abilities. The class abilities do seem a tad high to me as well. Crew Skills are ok but if I were to train all my available abilities(from the smuggler trainer) I would be bankrupt. Not so much before level 25 but after you purchase your speeder+training its almost like you don't recover for awhile and you cant afford to train your class abilities if they are at 5-8k apiece. I could see them knocking ¼ to ½ off the cost of abilities between 25 and 45. I'm not all for an easy game though. The mount training needs to remain the same price and level.
  21. Nevermind everybody. I was not aware that no image sigs were allowed at this time. I request this forum be removed by a moderator. Sorry
  22. If someone would be so gracious as to provide a link so I can subscribe to the thread for updates. thank you.
