  1. waht? people actually wear the war hero gear? that stuff is fugly.

If I didn't have my orange gear to wear I'd wear green 40's gear instead of the fugly stuff they give us in terms of PvP armor!

Seriously though .. when I buy new BM/WH peices they do stay in inven untill I can pull the mods, save for a couple minor peices I refuse to wear such crap.

  2. As long as it remains optional cool. The minute it becomse manditory, er no.

SWG for all its good or ill had a portion of their leveling progression where you HAD to do the free form space combat to get thru part of the Kashyyyyk progression. You HAD to engage in few space missions to advance. I, and I am sure there are more players like me, am not good at space combat on the rails or otherwise. I would be pretty disapointed if this game would force me into space.

I don't remember it that way at all.

The Kashyyyk missions that required space missions were for space loots.

You didn't need to do them to progress in the ground game.

Frankly, any monkey in a space suit could have done those missions. SWG's controls were the most simple possible. If you had a problem with them .. I wonder how you can control your ground character, as that was actually more complex then the space controls.

  3. Healing a guy in passing as he was almost dead. Turned out he was of the opposing faction. It flagged me for pvp. I had no idea what to do at the time and he killed me. lol

    Ha!

My fist time through Voss... think I was on my Bounty Hunter.

I have a habit of buffing people at random as I have all 4 class buffs.

Ran acrost this guy up by the Gormak ship and he just had 1 class buff.

So I buff him ... nothing .. try it again ... nothing....

I'm scratching my head wondering what the hell is going on, why is my buff not working?

I try again, and again ... I'm pretty much following this guy around trying to get my buffs to work.

I'm in range, in LoS, he's not in a convo, I have him target......wait ..... oh hell he's a Jedi.

    /facepalm

We don't need no stinkin Blasters!

    http://imageshack.us/a/img812/6058/stinkingblasters.jpg

Yesterday during a voidstar match my marauder got stuck for the last 30 seconds or so of the round in a strange pose.

Picture throwing a football, then freeze at the last moment when you release the ball.

Could still run around/jump etc. but his upper body was froze in that position.

Strangest thing I've seen so far unfortunately the round ended before I could find a good angle and take a screenie.

  5. Your information is right but you forgot one thing: characters equipping 2 weapons have a 33% penalty on the offhand accuracy. This makes offhand weapons proned to miss or to be deflected, parried, etc.

If i'm not wrong i heards about a marauder skill the reduce this accuracy debuss but i'm not sure because i haven't any marauder.

Yeah mara/sent are the only duel weilding classes that get a tallent to increase their off hand capability.

Mercs/GS etc are stuck with an off-hand weapon that's mostely just for show.

    You know ...

    800-1000 dmg main hand

60-120 dmg off hand, should it actually hit.

  6. Even with all of the legacy warzone exp boosts, it took me 8 day 8 hrs played of warzone leveling to get to 50 on my alt.

The upside is that you can max your warzone commendations before hitting 50 (3500 rwz comms, 2000 wz comms).

Still, it's much faster to level to 50 with quests and space mission dailies. It takes about 4-6 days played if you take your time through quests. If you're speed-leveling, you can space bar your way through quests and get to 50 with two days played.

Ok I was getting ready to say "4 to 6 days /played?" but then you followed up.

The legacy exp perk basically puts you back at the amount of exp you used to get for WZ's. Not sure when it happened, but at some point they reduced exp acrost the board. (then again I might be remembering beta levels)

The biggest problem is that leveling this way is entirely queue dependent.

When you're going through class and planetary quest lines you don't have to sit in a queue.

If you only play during 'prime time' hours then it isn't bad.

What I generally do on alts is PvP while the gettin's good, then when the queue slows down I go back to my class/planet quests.

The upside of this is that you pretty much stay a couple levels above your quests, which makes them quick and easy to run through.

In fact I would say the fastest way to level is running class/planet missions with PvP/space missions as fillers in between planets or any time you fall below your quests listed levels.

But the real "best" way to do it, is to play what you enjoy and let the levels take care of themselves.

I'm up to 5 lv 50's now and the 'desire' and/or 'excitement' of gaining levels just isn't there any more.

When I'm playing my lower level alts I'm more than happy just to run around killing this or that and sooner or later I might run acrost my quest mobs. Streaking through a WZ. Taunting opposite faction players outside their outposts on som planets. If I happen to level up that day 'great', if not....'great'.

  7. Are the really going to take away the cash option? There are some players, like myself, who don't need the full recruit set because we have a bunch of warzone comms and ranked comms saved up from extensive PVP-ing before we hit 50. When my sorc gets to 50 (which will be very soon), he will have the maximum amount of commendations allowed, and therefore I'll be taking the token instead of the Recruit set of gear. With my commendations, I'll be able to buy about five pieces of BM gear, then I'll use the cash from the token to fill in the rest of the slots with Recruit gear. Whatever amount of credits is left over I'll keep, and probably use the credits to rip mods since a lot of the 50 PVP gear is hideous. I think it's unfair to people who do a lot of PVP before 50 if they force everyone to get the Recruit set, because not everyone needs the full set, some people have enough comms to buy several BM pieces as a fresh level 50, and it's nice to have extra credits to help with the modding, since they made ripping mods so damn expensive. Would be nice if they either made ripping mods free as long as you are at a modding table. Either that or make better looking endgame PVP gear so I'm not forced to rip mods just to make my character look decent...but that's a whole other topic of course.

With coms capped at 2k you can buy one peice of BM gear. (maybe 2 if minor slots)

If you've banked ranked coms, then sure ...

Can you bank ranked coms pre-50?

If so I gotta wonder why bother converting them to buy BM slots instead of using them to get started on WH?

You paid a 3-1 ratio to get them even if it means you only do one slot BM to WH I would assign that a higher value then converting back at a 1-1 ratio to buy BM.

I know there's a valor level requirment, dunno if there's a level requirment as well to convert ranked coms.

I tried to get a head start on an alt and found out the hard way that

    A) The 2k cap is still in place on coms.

    B) You cannot buy and bank BM peices prior to lv 50.

  8. Yeah, EVE has a totally different game-play than other MMOs. Most people have SEVERAL accounts too, I do not know alot of people that have more than one SWTOR account.

That being said... SWTOR seems to have 27k of active logins for last week. that aren't 500k subscribers, that's for sure, more like 300k. If even that.

    Indeed.

When I played EVE I had three accounts.

I even had a macro setup that would mine resources on one, while the second would transport from cans back to the space station. The third I would actively control to kill off pirates and any players who would disturb my operations.

Of course back then battleships were the toughest thing out there, and I had a stable of them.

    Ah yes ..

    Valorium Propulsion Industries.

Where we specialise in the latest top of the line propulsion technologies.

Be sure to check out our extensive line of Frigates and Destroyers.

Been so long .. There was some sort of engine/booster that I made my fortune with.

    What was I saying ...

  9. EVE is lucky to break 35k on prime time and still has ~500k subs. http://eve-offline.net/

EVE is a little different in that respect though.

Because of the way skills and training work in EVE I would expect them to have a higher number of subscribers vs active players.

I havn't played EVE in a long time but there used to be a lot of (log in-assign skills to train/log out) then 18 hours later (log in-assign new skills to train/logout), two weeks later (log in, assign new skills to train/log out).

Crafting was the same way. You would assign a blueprint select a number of runs, then check back in a week.

I would expect EVE to have a larger number of subs in relation to it's consecutive players number than you would see in other games.

  10. Hi!

Im not sure what u meant exaktly with "overdoing", but as with dps and heal god playing usually gets love, and im not talking about being perfektly flawless ( wich im by no means are) just doing a god work. Bad play usually dont get recognition if u heal or dps either. The point was mostly that atleast in our guild i hear lots of praise to our tanks when we talk on mumble.

    Best regards

    kraroc

    It was a joke.

    You are spelling it wrong.

You mean to say "good", "god" is an all-powerful religeous being.

  11. I think "Yo" up there may mean to say stasis vs choke, and not lift.

It can be confused as 'stasis' also lifts you.

I was unaware of any difference in terms of fire pit damage.

    As for the 'duration' .....

I know my jedi tank has a talent that allows force stasis to last it's full duration while removing the need to be channeled.

I would guess that Jugs would probably have that same option.

This would explain said skill lasting full duration while getting "whaled on".

  12. Hi!

While many people just look at dps or heals, a god tank is fantastic to have. And the better players you play with the more appreciated u will be. I just love when i see we have a tank, in huttball it is just pure devastating as ballcarrier coupled with healer its really hard to pick apart.

Voidstar how many times havent a tank saved it, keeping up against 3 opponenets giving u the extra seconds for respawn and prevent cap. The same goes for Alderaan or NC. And in rated a good tank can keep the healers alive and still do dps, thats great.

But if its mostly important to get those MVP votes, then tanking is little bit less greatful. But i can asure u by healers and players that play for the team ( if u are a god tank, in my guild we have a couple god tanks, i often play with a guy called Kidar that is a great jugg tank) u will get love.

So keep up the good work u are neede

    Best regards

    kraroc

    A god tank you say.

You don't think you might be overdoing it maybe just a little bit?

  13. I don't understand the whole issue.

I even read convo's in general chat about it (usually people telling others to always vote for the healer).

I have never cared for a moment how many MVP votes I or anyone else got.

Half the time I don't bother with it.

When I do I'll often just randomly pick someone who had decent numbers.

Now if someone does stand out during a match as doing a fine job, and I recognize their name I'll vote for em.

I play with name tags and icons turned off so unless I have reason to target someone I only see enemy name tags during a round.

  14. One thing I'd like to point out to my fellow subscribers: Bioware will track what sells and what does not sell in the cash shop to figure out how to prioritize dev resources. I urge all subscribers to send Bioware a clear message that we are not pleased by this clumsy money grab. Support the game through our subs and criticism but do not buy these gambling boxes. Take a stand for the future of our game. Once Bioware sees that no one is falling for this trick, they'll have to actually make things that we want.

I never played STO. Can anyone tell us if people still buy these types of things? I can imagine that when they first launched, some people fell for it but they know better now.

In gw2, which I also play, no one I know bothers to buy keys to open the locked boxes. The boxes just get stacked in a single bank space. When someone happens to get a key, they open a box but no one I know buys keys from the cash shop. Does anyone know players who buy keys to open the lock boxes?

They went a step further with STO.

Every time someone opens a box and gets a rare loot there is a system wide message to all players.

    "Soandso has recieved 'X'

Then that player is spammed for the next hour with tells and mail from players wanting to buy said item from them.

  15. According to market analysis on freemium games, on average they extract ~80-90% of the equivalent of a subscription fee per month from the "free players" on an ongoing basis. So it's not free for the vast majority of the free side of the business model. The methodology of monetizing the free side is pretty well mature and known now so unless Bioware completely blows it on their monetization efforts, there will be a revenue spike from the freemium model.

You mean they way they've completely blown it on everything else?

(please use real words and not made up corporate BS like "freemium", they make you sound like a complete *******)

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

    Albert Einstein

  16. Sounds EXACTLY like how they have done STO. These irritating boxes will drop off of kills, but you can't open them without first heading to the store and paying real money to get a key to unlock these boxes. They will either have crap inside them (Most often then not) or they will have that *one* piece you have been looking for like crazy that nobody has.

It's a money trap and quite frankly, should be illegal IMO.

Was going to metion the STO boxes.

It's gotten to the point with STO that all new content comes in those boxes, regardless if you're a subscriber or not.

You want the new content, you have to buy keys and gamble for it.

The few bits of content that don't come from those boxes go to the cash store ONLY.

All a subscription gets you is a tiny bit of 'funny money' each month.

Not enough to buy anything unless you save it up for 6-10 months.

  17. Bang for buck doing free flight dogfighting is probably the biggest waste of developer resources ever.

It would appeal to a very small minority and the barrier to entry for "flight sim scrubs" would be extremely high. You load in and someone who clocked 1k hours in tie fighter hands you yor exhaust in 15 seconds flat. The line between perserverance and masochism is not that fine and trying to "master" dogfighting in such an enviroment lands firmly on the side of the latter lol.

    You're doing it wrong.

No one expects a full on flight sim like independence war 2

    Rather something like SWG/JTL

You had throttle up/down and control was entirely by mouse.

Any monkey in a flight suit could do it, it wasn't all that different from what's already in game in terms of controls.

You seem to be expressing an unreasonable fear.

I played SWG from beta until shut down.

At the point when they tried to dumb-down the game (known as the NGE or 'New Game Experience') The ground game was ruined.

I didn't cancel my sub, know why?

Because like a lot of SWG players, I still loved the space game (which was not touched by NGE).

Tons of players have been expressing thier outright disgust for the way EA/BW handled space from the moment it was revealed. In fact, the longest discussions bar-none where on the matter. All of it was ignored, they had this attitude that they knew better. Had they actually implimented a JTL style space component from the begining, this game would be in much better shape today.

Where they to impliment such a component today, it would likely bring more subs then any other content they could add.

  18. Yet so dissapointing when you see it in game and your character is holding it backwards.

The hilt should curve away from you, not towards you like the idiot devs have it.

The purpose of the curved hilt is both to provide a more secure grip for powerful slashing attacks, as well as lowering the blade angle when thrusting.

  19. Have you played LOTRO and explored all the regions there? There is a lot of weather and day/night cycle diversity there, and it is done very well.

Played that through beta and then maybe three months afterwards.

Long time ago, but I do remember rain issues there. Made it really hard to play, and was far to frequent.

Again, this was beta/shortly after launch. I did like the way they did musical instruments though.

    Do you still play it?

We always joked about how long the game would go before the socialists would make them remove pipeweed.

  20. You complain that the cost is too high because you don't want to "farm". You don't want to do anything to earn credits as they do not coincide with your desired play style, so you want to BW to implement a way for you to obtain the legacy perks that will coincide with your desired play style. If this is not asking for a handout, what would you call it?

Maybe you have busted your @#* all your life, but many others, including myself, have done so also. A lot of the people that do bust their @#* realize that you often have to do things you may not like in order to obtain those things that you do like or want. This game is no different. You can claim it's only a game, so you should just be able to log in and have fun, but that's just an excuse or a way to justify laziness.

    Laziness?

Are you on some sort of medication?

You seem to be equating a VIDEO GAME with real life.

    You need help man, seriously.

    The credit prices are UNREASONABLE.

    That is the issue.

You have the time to grind out those credits in a VIDEO GAME.

You sir, are the lazy one.

  21. Report him to customer support their phone number is under the support page, The CSR's have a ban your account first ask questions later if you can prove he is actually harassing you. Frankly I'm surprised because usually one in game report gets action

I had a player months ago that was harrassing me out of the blue in WZ's.

He would use 'extricate' or similar skill to pull me back into spawn area's so I'd die when the timer went out.

He was also 'helping' the opposing team to score and hack objectives and such.

This continued over several days, and several CS tickets.

Eventually I never saw him again, though the CS responses always leave you in the dark as to what they did (or did not as the case may be).

  22. You do not have to "sit at home playing all day" to have even a modest amount of credits. I also have a life--a 40+ hour a week job, wife, two kids, bowl three nights, or ore, a week, yard work, housework, etc., and so maybe get to play for a couple of hours a night or two a week, and I'm not hurting for credits. Not rich by any means, but not hurting, either.

As the legacy perks are purely optional, I see no problem with the costs. If you want the reward, do something to earn it. Earning the legacy requirement is only half the cost.

You can complain about the costs being too high because you are unwilling to make the effort to earn the credits, and hope that BW changes the system, or you can actually do something to better your lot in game. Some people choose to be victims, and some choose not to be. Which do you choose?

    Victims?

    You just don't get it.

No one is asking for hand-outs here.

I'm not even going to go further as a man who has busted my *** all my life to earn a living, I find your comment highly offensive.
