  1. I dunno...I remember SWG's space controls being very difficult to manage without a joystick attachment, and although there were many freedoms, orientation was weird as all get out, and I mostly only used spaceports or lightspeed to avoid it, unless absolutely necessary. I actually breathed a sigh of relief when I saw SWTOR's space combat was so linear.

Are you sure you are remembering the right game?

Perhaps you never adjusted the controls to suit you?

Mouse control was IMO far superior to joystick in JTL, much more precise.

Not to mention the simplest form of control, anything but "difficult to manage".

If you had problems with the controls in JTL, then you must also find games like 'skyrim' hard to play.

Now if you were a just plain 'bad pilot' and trying to fly say a Firespray, or better yet a B-wing, against a group of T5 droid fighters without the skill to make those ships work. Then, sure it could be tough.

That had nothing to do with the controls though.

There is nearly no difference in terms of mouse control between the rail shooter and the way JTL was, except that JTL's mouse control was fully customizable.

  2. Of all the recovery abilities seeth is the one that drives me nuts.

I also don't like the camera movements when using it, but in my opinion that is a minor issue.

What really gets me is that it's the only one that actually moves your character.

Use it to close to an edge and it'll drop you off etc.

The real problem I have with it is that it fades out the map.

This is prime time to check the map and look over objectives, etc.

Yes, I know you can disable map fade when moving. I use it elsewhere, so it's not practical to disable it.

Make the seeth animation, an in-place animation. Disconnect it from actual movement.

I like the animation, I hate the fact that it is 'actual' character movement.

    Frankly, it shouldn't be.

  3. I just wet my pants. Seriously. And I cried a little.

I will now start building a Chris Roberts shrine and worship this man in a religious, fanatic way.

I will place my credit card under my keyboard and wait for a preorder link to appear.

I will touch my MS Sidewinder 2 forcefeedback joystick every day in anticipation.

    :D

    WOOT!

I get a kick out of the responses....

"My nerd ***** just lifted tipped my desk over and cracked my monitor"

    .

"I AM A PC GAME made me **** so bad!"

    .

"I may buy it just for their gosh darn awesome attitude"

    .

    "TAKE MY MONEY NOW PLEASE!"

    .

"gosh darnit, now I have to clean my keyboard"

    .

    "**** YES! All my credits."

Could you imagine EA/BW garnering this sort of reaction when/if their SSSP is ever implimented?

(On a side note .. none of the quotes above include the term "gosh darn" this is the first time I've ever seen a forum actually change a term and not simply censor it out. I am offended by this.)

  4. How was that Black prophecy game? If they really bought it please don´t tell me it was instanced hell - open universe to explore with trading etc. ? Or "Moonbreakers" gameplay?

    edit: ok found a video

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXu1uYrGcSQ&t=2m5s

    http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/09/25/black-prophecy-says-good-bye-today-with-parties/

It obviously had a rather lukewarm reception

    Heh...

I was in the beta for it. Had potential but I didn't care so much for the instancing.

Trading/crafting was ... weird. You spent a lot of time flying back and forth between stations waiting for the 'random generator' to come up with something you could use.

Thing was, for whatever reason (don't recall if RL, or if I started playing something else) I stopped playing it for a week or two. Then *poof*

    The game basically dissapeared.

The beta client no longer connected.

Ok .. the game must have gone live.

Can't find the forums any longer.

    Website was just 'gone'.

    Can't even find the game.

Looking back this must have been the point where the original developers ran out of money.

Never heard anything else about the game untill the announcment that it was closing.

So, yeah .... I'd say absolutely terrible job of marketing. For a person who was a part of the beta even, it was as if the game had never existed.

  5. I wish I had FRAPS going.... Actually seeing it was priceless.

How well does FRAPS run for you?

    Been having issues with mine.

If I want to record something specific, no problem.

The problem is when I try to record gameplay in general when the video gets to the point that FRAPS cuts it and starts a new recording the game lags all to heck and is unplayable untill I close out FRAPS.

I think I have it set at 2 GB then it starts a new recording.

  6. Happens to me all the time. When you throw a saber and your target goes stealth before it hits and comes back to you the saber teleports back to you and starts spinning like that :/ Or when target suddenly runs behind cover.

Indeed, target had run behind the wall there.

Was a total spawn camp as the last few points ticked off the board so they were just running back and forth in their spawn like fish in a barrel.

It's happened to my marauder as well, but never with the saber spinning. When my marauder gets this his sabers dissapear and he's just running around in that pose.

  7. So, I join a match this morning and the scoreboard is showing the score as 4-0 my team. The match ends a little later with a score of 6-0. Yay! A win and my daily is done! Wrong.

Instead when the match ends it gives us a defeat and that scoreboard shows it being 0-6 with the enemy team winning?

What is up with that? LOL

I just have to ask ....

Regardless of what was displayed on the scoreboard, did you not notice enemy players carrying the ball acrost your goal line?

I can't help but get the impression that you are one of 'those guys' off in a random corner somewhere dueling someone, paying no attention to the game.

  8. I know they said to guard the doors and not leave them, but this guy is at half health and running away! I know it's more beneficial to chase him down and finish him! (Enemy gets bomb on door)

I know this guy probably got on the node before me, but hey I think it's more beneficial to see if I get it before him than it is beneficial for me to stop any one who might try and stop him from getting the node! (Interrupted by 1 juggernaut with 2 seconds to go)

Dang! I keep hitting this guy but his health is rejuvenating! And what is this idiot talking about "kill the healers" they can't do any damage so they aren't top priority!

Why would i go after the ball carrier? He has like full health, I see someone with half health running toward the health pack! (Rot worms score!)

LOL this newb juggernaut fell in our pit, doesn't he know the only way to get to our end zone is if he takes the ramps? I'll just sit up here and fire down on him, it's not like he can jump to me or any thing. (Rot worms score!)

    To name but a few...

Wouldn't it be such a great 'quality of life' improvement if events like these would trigger the announcer ...

    "That's one dumb Frogdog!"

  9. that doesn't beat that Sentinel I had in my group the other day. Throughtout a complete Voidstar he managed to do 3308 damage. AS A SENT!!!!

    Well duh!

    He was our healer!

( ... even if you hand the keyboard to a 2 year old they're bound to accidently beat those numbers.)

  10. Sorry, but no.:jawa_mad: The merc has both two guns and a back missile launcher. However, the only special thing the powertech has got is a jetpack. Now you want to give them both a jetpack. This means that the number of powertechs would greatly decrease, because this one would have nothing special anymore.:jawa_frown: Please, just lets keep the jetpacks for the powertech, its the only thing which makes this adv. class unique.:jawa_angel:

Oh yes, isn't Boba Fett more kind of a powertech?:jawa_confused:

    Two guns?

The mercs off-hand gun is just for looks.

If it ever does hit it does what 120 damage?

  11. Would have to be "The Hedge Clipper"

    On a more serious note.

How about a jet-pack ability. Sort of like a fixed destination force-run.

When activated the bounty hunter uses his jet-pack to break movement imparing effects and rocket to a new position 30meters ahead.

Make it a fixed point at 30 meters in the direction facing so it's a point and shoot.

Give it a quick enough cooldown and it would be a pretty darn helpfull escape skill with some offensive uses.

    Minimal PvE impact.

Would actually make the rocket-punch root worth using, and give mercs some breathing room.

Granted there may be issues here and there with pathing/access that may need to be hammered out.

Lets face it, that jet pack we lug around shouldn't just be for looks, right?

  12. I always try to off-heal a little bit in flashpoints but I got told by a healer once that I should stick to doing DPS. Which makes sense, because I can do some mediocre healing with long casting times or keep doing major damage.

Yeah it depends on the situation.

I'll only pop my self heal now and then unless I get that "we're in trouble" feeling.

If the healers being beat on and the tank's slow to react I can usually pop a heal or two on the healer and peel the mobs off him, then chaff/flare when the tank gets around to taunting and hand the mobs over. If the tank's taking some abnormal spikes and it looks like a close call, I'll throw a quicky in there.

For the most part if you're spec'd and geared as DPS then your biggest impact on the encounter is DPS. Just keep in mind that a small heal in the right spot is better than a rez.

Also agro. Heals are great for generating agro. In this game as a DPS even though wearing heavy armor, you're not even an off-tank. However, I'd rather wayward mobs be beating on me instead of the healer. Maybe that's just to many years of playing a paladin off-tank in EQ .. with taunts + heals I could pull agro off anyone. Always one eye on the healer.

Just keep in mind that your heals can be effective taunts, should the situation call for it.

And then there are some healers who'll get the impression that you throwing a heal means you think they're doing a bad job. The proper way to handle this situation is to throw heals on them at random, whether they need it or not.:D

(Our guild's main tank would complain all the time that hybrid classes were OP because we could heal, so naturally any time we 'hybrids' were in his presence we'd constantly throw heals on him)

As others have said. PvE-awesome. PvP-just plain hurts being a DPS merc.

Not gonna say "don't do it" just understand that it's going to be tough to be competative.

  13. Same thing with CC.

    Same thing with missile blast.

Target a group and they're hitting you before your opening attack has landed.

I even had a group of mobs in BH aggro me at max range the other day because I clicked my shield while having them targeted.

The biggest problem I have with it is in terms of CC, while I can see how interrupt can also be effected in a big way.

For the most part I don't mind it so much, except that when you fire an ability the target mob reacts instantly. Though you have to wait for the round to reach target. I made a video of it a while back. Target an undisturbed mob. Fire off CC as your opening move and the mob instantly attacks you before CC even hits.

In terms of interrupt ... that's just bad.

They made the sorc/sage KB instant no-warmup, they should do the same for interrupt.

I imagine the issue exists with other classes, but I really only notice it on my Bounty Hunter toons. No doubt because so many of our attacks are slow traveling darts/missiles/rockets.

  14. What needs to be done in NC is thw wall exploit where Body Type 1 or 2 can literally go into a wall and not be targeting and cap a turret that way...my team had to deal with a Sorc that sed this exploit to cap south and kept healing all the dps on their team. We killed their dps at one point and this same sorc kept using this exploit on any turret he went to.

    I thought they fixed this.

I remember reading a patch note or some such.

You can't cap from the corners anymore or something like that.

But yeah .. this was an actual exploit where the player could not be targeted etc.

    "invisable wall" style bug.

  15. Never look at your mini-map.

In fact you should just turn it off, it will only distract you.

If you outnumber the enemy, you're just that good.

All the rest of them are like waiting on respawn timers and stuff.

When you see enemy healers with marks on them, don't worry about it.

That means someone else is taking care of it already.

If someones health keeps going up every time you try to damage them, you just have to try harder.

When you try to activate an objective and someone interrupts you, just ignore them.

Keep re-activating, soon they'll loose interest and go away.
