  1. Stream will be back up in a few, have to disable it for first boss since this room is BS latency wise.
  2. Yes, he is doable for yall. He hits a lot harder so there is really no room for people taking swipes when they shouldn't, if you are watching you can see how fast those mistakes will wipe you. So doable, but a much smaller margin for error.
  3. Self Explanatory, answering questions while stream is active. http://www.own3d.tv/live/109385
  4. First of all thanks for the response and even though I disagree with you on some points the extra information is always useful. I will concede the luck factor definitely increases going from HM to NM. I still say HM is more about execution then trying to beat the dice roll but anyways... I hope more people take the time to read walls of text. Sure it takes a bit of work but they can often be filled with very useful information. Thanks for taking the time to post it. I totally agree that burning through phase 2 and trying to get it over as quickly and smoothly as possible is the key to success. Phase 3 is a lot easier.
  5. There is luck involved with almost every tightly tuned encounter...the question is how often is it a major contributor to the fight? Is it a little more often in this fight then some others? Yes. But everyone claims this fight is bugged bugged bugged and blames wiping almost solely on those issues and RNG instead of the fact that they just didn't execute properly. I had an EXTENSIVE discussion about this with one of my best DPS. He hated this fight and thought it was nothing but pure RNG, until he started phase him to p3 and killing him on a regular basis. Then he realized and admitted the fight is simply very tightly tuned and requires good execution. I'm not saying there aren't bugs. I'm not saying RNG can't screw you. Both of those happen. But it isn't at the rate everyone claims it to be. I'm truly not trying to be an elitist saying you are doing it wrong, etc. I just enjoy the encounter, think outside of some major issues it is pretty well done, and just want people to recognize it is very doable. This isn't the boss everyone thinks it is, smash your face against it 20 times and hope that 1 of those attempts the stars align. If you are executing it properly you will be surprised at how often, and easily you push him to p3. Also, one more note...my stream last night was of Nightmare mode, which although not much different then hard mode, is still its own beast. This article I wrote is mainly written towards a HM perspective, although all the principles still work for Nightmare. Admittedly luck/RNG is a bit more of a factor in Nightmare because of the sheer damage output of the encounter, but regardless it doesn't increase that much to say the encounter is entirely luck/RNG based. Thank you and let me know if there is anything else I can clear up.
  6. We wiped ONCE to RNG and ONCE to the stacks not going off him properly...we weren't executing very well...its a difficult fight, all there is too it. Let me break down what ACTUALLY happened for you... The getting picked up right after you explode your lightning ball happens...you counter it. I wasn't LUCKY by getting a small heal right before it happened. I used a potion the SECOND I dropped below 50% and popped my regen ABILITY. Why? Because I KNOW that stuff happens and am prepared for it, my guide even says that. The first person who got picked up didn't do their job...they SHOULD of used a pot/ability. Not to mention if you are topped off and shielded at 17k+ HP you should only drop slightly below 50% hp, 75% if you are smart enough to use a DR ability before blowing up your ball. You shouldn't be dropped onto a ball unless your raid is slow/bad at exploding them. They shouldn't be ANYWHERE near the middle, unless you screw up. Is there an RNG factor? Yes. Are the bugs? Yes. But all said and done the encounter is no worse then Hard Mode fights in WoW, they are VERY tightly tuned and require you to use your abilities/think for yourself. Sorry I can't hold all my raid's hand at once. It isn't always a clean execution since we have new people in there EVERY week, it is part of what we do, we like to teach and gear up others. Again, its more execution then it is RNG/Bugs...we simply failed at it. I'll have it up again tomorrow.
  7. Ok so the fight is definitely more difficult because of the random aggro but not impossible. Seems like the derp answer but have the group move as one in phase 3 so if it does reset he is always under a pillar. Just make sure your group isn't under the pillar itself and getting one shot =p actually not that bad of an adjustment and kinda helps with lightning balls.
  8. Title is self explanatory. Let me know if I can answer any questions. http://www.own3d.tv/live/109385
  9. Apparently there are some new bugs with Soa. The primary being random aggro in P3. Gonna head in there tonight and try to find a decent work around.
  10. Maybe it isn't a bug and they decided only one boss should drop the main head weapon, that being hard mode Soa. I could be wrong but just saying, it may be intentional.
  11. This is true, you don't HAVE to break the person out of mind trap at the end of phase 2. Mind trap is a 2 minute "debuff". If you outlast it often you will be placed back with your group. Sometimes though you may be placed in another plane away from your group. That is why, if possible, you break people out of the mind trap before platforms start falling down. If you don't they still may be put back with the group but its a chance.
  12. Congrats sir, glad I could be some sort of help! Yes, the invisibility issue is due to kiting too long, which kinda sucks. But you should have plenty of time if people are immediately running out to meet the balls, no kiting needed. And yes, timing/execution is everything. So tired of people chalking up this fight to RNG when if you execute it correctly there is little RNG involved.
  13. ok...ok...excuse me...ok so guys, if you use my strat, 1 time out of 1456721.146362 attempts it might bug. All the other times it works. Was I exact enough for you champ? Sorry, but when a boss doesn't bug 30/30 times, it isn't a stretch to say, use this strat and it shouldn't bug for you. Submit a video proving otherwise? Oh wait you can't? That is what I thought.
  14. Thanks for taking the time to explain something i already understand and have even discussed in this thread. Lol and then follow up with a btw, you're right. 30 isn't a great sample size, but its not like we can do infinite attempts, we are limited. But 30/30 is a solid enough ratio to base my statement on. Especially when you consider the sample size is 7 or 8 different groups. But thanks for trying chief.
  15. Yeah dude, some people just can't think for themselves. "I didn't get a shield", um...don't you have some sort of DR ability yourself? If you aren't getting a shield then use your own. People just need to use their heads. Yeah that RNG of being dropped onto a lightning ball can suck, but best way to prevent that is tank in the middle and make sure your group is exploding them almost right when they spawn. Again, move the group if someone tracking a ball gets cycloned/mind trapped so you don't have a ball in the middle of the raid.
  16. Yup, or have one of your DPS "spot" them, move to the position the tank NEEDS to be in and the tank can just position that way.
  17. False. 30 attempts in a row, including groups I've advised on my server with no bugs. I'm inclined to say you are doing something wrong or trolling. Want me to observe? I can tell you what to fix.
  18. Normal is meant to be easy so it doesn't require you to actually solve the puzzle. KP is similar. They want hard to require at least a small amount of thought. It isn't broken, just figure out the puzzle. Answer is all over the forums.
  19. Must be a pretty crappy server if you are the PREMIER guild on there. There must be a million threads about this already and people aren't holding back the solution anymore. The answer is everywhere if you would take a minute to search and find it. Or solve it yourself. Heck, there is even an app on the iPhone for it...really...
  20. You USED to be able to have 1 person just going around destroying all of the lightning balls. But the most recent major patch made it so that the only person who can destroy them is the person it is tracking. Again best way to handle it is everyone stacks in the middle and the targeted people run out with a shield to blow them up asap. You should get him to 31% and wait for him to cyclone a player. Once he cyclones a player and they are 3-5 seconds from ending the cyclone push him over to the transition phase. You may still have a mind trap up or mind trap happen but this is much easier to deal with then a late cyclone. So it is always best to transition right after a cyclone and deal with a mind trap if it happens. **Even IF you can't break that person out of the mind trap in time before you need to start dropping platforms, Mind Trap is a timed event. So right after P3 starts they should exit the mind trap and more often then not be able to assist you in P3. As far as the lightning balls go for transition phase. I haven't seen them spawn after transition but I have seen them spawn as the transition phase starts. Best way to deal with it is make sure people are still aware of this and blow them up immediately before dropping platforms. If you don't it can get messy but still doable. You just have to make sure that person doesn't kite it through the group, gets plenty of heals, and it should blow up, albeit that individual will take a ton of damage before and when it happens. Let me know if I can answer anything else.
