  1. The world isn't all about PvP I've played MMO's for 13 years and detest PvP in all it's forms and styles.. I PvE only and multiboxing is a decent boon for that. I can run Heroics alone, level "slightly" quicker (you share XP rather than double it so the benefit here really is rather small..5% maybe?) But running heroics with a Tank/Healer or Tank/DPS combo is what it's all about. Love Swtor - love the gameplay, the atmosphere, the graphics everything. Just no interest in ever playing with others. At all. I have a full time job, sports and a family to interact with others socialising in a game rather than real life seems pretty lame to me. When I want to socialize - I do - for real .
  2. /nofollow was removed by Blizzard! This headline tells less than 1/2 the story. 1) It was only removed from BATTLEGROUNDS. (PvP) It's sine been clarified that Blizzard have NO INTENTION of removing it from openworld PvP or PvE at all. 2) It was removed to prevent BOTTING not multiboxing. 3) It was an experiment and they have already intimated that it may be back in the next patch or two (or may not) 4) Blizzard mods and admins have not only cleared dual and multiboxing (many years ago and many many many times since) some of the mods who have been with Blizzard for 8 years plus DO IT THEMSELVES and openly discuss it 5) It is more than possible to dual box Swtor with a single PC. The software is available for $9.99 per 3 months and does it right out of the box. 6) People have seen me dual boxing (I run Heroics to level or PvE to level ONLY - on my own - minding my own business with no other players present) I get "Botting - reported" type messages that show that a) The person involved has no idea what botting is and ... b)Those reporting are wasting their time. Had a chat window from admin open once and tell me I had been reported and that as long as I didn't gank I was fine. So report away. I'm playing a game I love the way I like. I don't interact with other players and playing more than 2x the subs for the priviledge. If that annoys you, then maybe you should get out more! It has precisely ZERO effect on your playing.
  3. For my part. Coming from EvE and WoW (EvE dual boxing or at least "dual accounting" is positively ENCOURAGED "The Power Of 2" and "Why not get a second account" drops into my inbox all the time) For me the only issue in Swtor is PvP bullying or ganking - that should be an issue whether it is one player playing many accounts or many players playing one account - however - it is a little more likely with one person. To gank in a group you need to find several people with the same bullying mentality..and thankfully that is a lot rarer than a "rogue" one man ganker. Outside that who cares> And if you do why? Being upset because someone is dropping more money on their hobby than you is neither here nor there. If people want to spend $600 a month (and I know 1 guy who teamed 40 mans in WoW back in the day who did just that) then that's fine by me. It doesn't affect me one tiny bit. As for the old chestnuts. The 5 man WoW druid team... 5 druids all equally specced would be a monumental waste of time and effort. Againt 5 individual players of the same level in PvP they would be Pwned every time even by those with lesser skill at the game, and in raids and other high end PvE - 5 man all the same class is a total waste of time. No flexibility of either skills or in the ability of the single user to adapt to situations. "5 real brains against 1" If the one brain wins it is for two possible reasons. 1) He is ganking with higher level characters one shotting lower players. This should be reported or (more likely) 2) If you have 5 characters the same level as this guy played by five different players and he STILL beats you. He's a LOT better than you at the game. 5 brains should beat one in an equal fight just about every time. Suck it up and live with it. Would I spend $500 a month on gaming. Maybe. I'm not short of cash. I'd have to think about it but no big deal for me personally. Hell what about the guy who spent $60,000 real dollars to buy a space station in Entropia to earn real dollars back from trade tax from other players that use it. Now THAT'S serious. Leveling quick by running heroics with a dual box set up. Who cares? Scritty
  4. Oh I think they have quite enough blinkered fanbois to help them balance this out
  5. I can only guess you've never played another MMO, and if you have you are, just being obtuse. If combat is all you want then that's fine. After all MW3 and COD are just combat and they do very well. Even if I leave I will keep an eye on stuff and come back if some lateral gameplay innovations are added. No issue there, not saying it's a bad game (it's not) not wishing it to fail (i'm not) just saying it probably doesn't have the depth to keep me interested enough to pay subs for it. Peace out
  6. But my biggest issue is that there is so little to do outside combat, and though trying different class mechanics is ok, and combat IS good, it's not enough alone to keep me playing for month after month. Professions are 100% uninvolving (press "n" wait 20 minutes..press "n" again") There are no secondary professions to level up My JC - no matter how many times I buy new stuff always looks the flipping same. Beige smock with gold trim. The trim changes a tiny bit from outfit to outfit, but not enough that someone who walked out of the room then walked back in after you'd bought new gear would notice. Great pastimes like playing the market are not partcularly inviting as the GTN is pretty weak and has lots of analytical and comparison features missing (Oh for something like "Auctioneer") Combat great - game stable, community for Imperial excellent. But without much to do gameplay wise outside of combat..s that enough for people to play form more than 3-6 months? I say that becasue I have not seen any mention of extra gameplay elements being added New flashpoints, better GUI, bug fixes and tech elements - yeah I see that list..but a list of "more stuff to do other than combat" I don't see that. I like the game, but I'm also pretty certain I will be questioning the $15 a month after 3 or 6 months of "just combat"
  7. http://www.mmo-junkies.net/backend/applications_addon/other/statistics/db/population/overall-yearly-big.png What facts would they be then? Not any other than those reported by EA - who have a very strong vested interest in keeping their shareholders quiet. Still - you know best. I'll be back when it's F2P....in about 12 months. Scritty
  8. I've not crafted a single item that I would swap for stuff I bought on GT or got as part of mob drop. I guess if you don't run Flashpoints or Heroics you might need the odd crafted item as the best loot drops here, but generally, crafting idoes not provide anything worthwhile. Not only that - as part of the game it is very dull and adds pretty much nothing. I hear Qzen Fess mumble something - so I assume he's back. I press "N" then "1" and he goes away again Every so often I see what he can make that would best level my manufacturing skill and press whatever number that is 5x I look at what he's made from time to time, or what he could make, and think So I return to pressing "N" and then a number every 20 minutes As an enjoyable game mechanic, it ranks alongside logging in or forgetting your password. It gives me no sense of aspiration, no sense of achievement..no sense of anything much really other than a lighter pocket credits wise. For the first couple of weeks I thought I was missing something, and resolved to go online and check out the intricacies of it. Then I checked, and there are none. It's as shallow and unrewarding as a spit puddle. More shallow even than WoW's vaneer thin set-up - and that's really saying something. And that's crafting. Unless I'm missing something?
  9. ???? Retail in Europe it was number 40 last week, and dropped out of the top 100 based on the ABC figures released today. Farming Simulator 2011 Gold is selling more copies retail in the UK (and you can buy that as a downloadable product as well from Impulse, or Gamefly)
  10. Who cares how many subs the game has now? It's a SW game that came out days after another one closed. It's SW It came out in peak buying season Many people are still on their free 28 days or put in their CC details before they even rolled their first character. The proof - one way or the other - will be after three full months. End of March, let's see where we are then I'm not repeating my view one way or the other, but a great "launch" is not the criteria for a successful product. Otherwise I'd be listening to Joe Dolce's "Shaddappa You Face" instead of John Lennon's "Imagine"
  11. Lol - I just want the game to be better. It's the only MMO i've got any interest in now. I would like to think we can kick Bio's butt and have them add the extra content (i.e stuff to do outside combat for one) and fix the GUI - and I'm in. It's either that or my first "MMO dry" period for 24 years (since Graphical MUD on Wolverhampton Poly's server "The Whitch" in 1998) Go on Bioware, Make trading and professions more interesting. Give us proper unique looking characters (even if it's just with our gear) and fix that darn MASSIVE blue GUI, and I'll be subbing for the next 10 years..promise)
  12. Taking JUST the pre-change figures shows a decline Taking JUST the post-change figures shows a continuing decline The best a change would show up as would be a big one day "blip" where there was a sudden and false decline when these changes were made. Yes, that one day would be a false decline. But it would not invalidate the KPI's being measured before or after as long as they were interpreted as trends and taken in context. Trends would continue either side of that false day where the UOM was changed (unit of measure) and lo-and-behold they do..and the trend is DOWN The change was a while ago now. It happened on one day across all servers And the trend post the change, after it's one day effects have been felt...is still down. The trend is down (arrgghhh)
  13. How does selling a gold guide make me a credit farmer? I wrote a gold guide (it's free on that site). I used the techniques to make a ton of gold. Playing the market was part of the game. In fact towards the end of my time with WoW I did it more than anything else. It was great fun. Had alts in Booty bay from both factions (I have vids showing you how to get a level 1 of either faction to Booty bay) and did X faction trading, logistics, mule runs, stock buyouts. Brilliant. It may notr sound like fun to you,. but I (and many others) love that aspect of MMO's. Together with involving crafting it was a game in itself. Hell after Cataclysm came out, playing the market was a lot more fun than instancing or levelling. I have a character with it's own guild on Anachronos (EU) and 11 million gold in the guild bank. Never sold any of it..never would. But if you want some. log in and I'll post you 100,000 G (genuine offer) How's that for fair? What's the problem with that?
  14. Nope - I said they factored in the CHANGE in server cap. I never said they knew what that was Trends are down. Even AFTER the change in status name the trend is down The cap was raised a while back, overnight, across all servert EU and US. We should have seen a step in the graphs where this was ...there isn't one. We also see activity figures CONTINUE TO GO DOWN EVEN AFTER THE CHANGE. I'm not sure if your being deliberatley obtuse , or your just not that bright. Player figures are down and going down more week by week It's a fact Live with it I
  15. Yeah - but I think they were hoping for an increase, not ~"holding onto 85%"
