  1. So you quit because of the forums? Have fun quitting every mmo to release in the future because last I checked real fanboys are busy leveling up and playing the game. Geez, the mmo community is so fickle.
  2. I'm starting to think that at least half of SWTORS population is a bunch of soloers who are afraid to join guilds, do heroics, world bosses, or flashpoints with other players No wonder you call it a single player game, you can't expect to see a real community unless you become a part of it. And general chat does not count.
  3. Real LFG system? So... People aren't real? Sounds a little carebare, I have no issues finding groups as long as I have my trusty fingers and /1 in front of me.
  4. Is it odd that I read this in the voice of the angry pig faced guy who gets his hand chopped off in the tatooine cantina of episode 1. How is this not an MMO? I've seen more engaging multi-player emphasis than leveling up on WoW, or Aion. Go to zone, do quests, level up. Very similar, and you can still help people with quests, but there is FAR more content in SWTOR than both Aion and WoW combined during their launches. Also it's fairly obvious you have no interest in playing with other people to begin with. If you spent a decent amount of time on socialization you would realize there are a LOT of benefits to grouping up with people. Also /resubbing, my only issue is there is too much to do during the leveling process. I out level content so often, and even then there's pvp, helping guild, crafting on the go, space combat, leveling alts, flashpoints... TOO MUCH.
  5. This game doesn't have "rotations". You use skills differently for different types of battles and scenarios, and based priority to skills that you use in more fights than others. Rotations are for the brainless
  6. This argument applies well to games like Skyrim, and maybe to a degree with SWTOR, but there has to be a limit to how crazy people can get with mods at the very least because the first thing people will try to do is give themselves a 3rd party advantage in warzones. Measures have to be taken to prevent players from gaining a significant competitive advantage from mods. IMO it would be too much of a hassle for BW to keep up with how much mod tools could suffer due to the exploits of a few creative minds that happen upon a new way to 1up what BW thought were tool limitations. The less time BW has to spend policing 3rd party content, the more they have to provide direct, substantial, in game content.
  7. agree 100% Just enough to be useful I don't want mods either, but I would love to see BW release new UI color layouts, and possibly even alternate UI formats.
  8. I am proficient at playing my key bindings. [ ] and F activate all 3 instant combat buffs. F recklessness, and [ ] for defense and crit trinket. Would be nice to only have to press one of those keys to activate all 3, allowing me to free up more room to add pertinent abilities on my main bar, and spend less time away from my mouse in PVP.
  9. Mods aren't needed. Perhaps new UI formats and color schemes would be nice. Macros would be nice, but keep the strings limited to 3-4 abilities because making uber codes only helps people exploit or harass. I would love to have macros just long enough that I could hit all of my instant combat buffs and trinkets at the same time. That's it.
  10. So you can advertise to level 1-20 players on the first couple planets that you are LFM to do an endgame raid? No thanks. /1 works fine for keeping the level ranges relevant. ESPECIALLY in this game. Not only would this mechanic break the need for socialization, the tool itself would be utterly USELESS.
  11. I see the cons outweighing the pros. I don't think your friend going afk warrants the exclusive need for LFG tools, especially at the cost of the way the game is played in it's entirety. You also have to consider that every planet has a specific level range for certain content. If there are people so eager to do content and they need a group, the only LFG tool they need is the / command because that is planet-wide for everybody within their level range, doing relevant content Why would you want a tool that advertises Taris groups, on Korriban? Vice versa... No, keep chat local to planets, and then you see you have no need to this "TOOL".
  12. People only demand the LFG "Tool" because they have become complacent and expect it to be necessary in order for the game to operate correctly. Not true, if people want a group, go to the right place and / for it. A game doesn't require a LFG tool, and despite popular belief, games can operate just fine with out them, you are just extremely lazy, or hate socialization, even in mmo's.
  13. It will compete well with WoW in the West. But SWTOR has no market in Asia, so you cannot compare the figures evenly.
  14. I'm not talking about you, I'm talking about the WoW plan. Your idea is not the WoW plan, it's the animation/castbar sync plan, which is relatively less lazy and gimped than the WoW plan.
  15. I can't believe I shifted all of you to the defensive here I understand everyone wants a nice change to the current system. I am not against that, I just see the current idea proposed as one that cuts a few too many corners for my tastes. The current system is flawed, but has potential. I think there are ways to improve the current system without porting WoW's.
  16. I just don't think you should look to WoW's casting mechanic to claim normality. Wow's a great game mechanically, but some things just wouldn't translate well if brought into SWTOR. I think there are alternatives to this idea, as ajjw said, and we've already nit-picked about them and how much better, yet longer they would take to implement.
  17. =/ ' I think this is something that is good to be gone. Sleight of hand in insta-abilities is fine with a game as arcadey as WoW. Bring it into the more stylized realism, heroic gameplay of SWTOR, and doing that would look aweful strange. It would also give sorcs in swtor a HUGE advantage in PVP because they have the most nuke abilities to queue up. I just don't see how BW could immitate the fluid mechanic that WoW has, without taking a large part of SWTORS current potential, and throwing it to the wolves. WoW has more fluid animation queueing, but is it a better game because of that? I don't think having invisible magic hands, makes or breaks a game.
  18. No, I mean his idea that they speed up animations to cast bars in order to balance cool downs with the animations. That would be the placeholder. After that, BW would then begin working on keeping the game within their vision without sacrificing animation, or cooldown time. You shouldn't have to sacrifice further game play, to make another facet of game play better. That's why patience is needed because something like this wouldn't be an over night, or even a one month deal.
  19. You'll still have people whining that they can't use back stab a second time fast enough. Imo, what you are saying could be a temporary "holder fix", until they change the animations to conform to cast time, or revamp cast times entirely to retain balance while adhering to the current animations. I say it would be temporary because if they just speed up the animation speed, it may look more more forced or artificial unless they pay more attention to the details to make it seem like it's the speed it's actually meant to be at. The most difficult idea would probably be, completely revamping all cast times AND animations in a way that retains at least the current level of balance. Yet I think this would be the highest of quality improvements.
  20. Naw I claimed that none of you have any good ideas, because all of them would make the game worse. Go ahead, cite where I claimed perfection in the current build.
  21. I never said I objected to enhancing the system. My reasoning this entire time has been against dropping GCD, and any other "quick" alterations that would break animation and gimp characters out of balance. Which BW won't do anyways. Hopefully.
