  1. Basically, summarizig all my posta in this thread, My point is that giving a melee class with a short clock a lot of damage in a meta with strong dcds will changet the game quite a bit and not for the best, imo.

     

    I agree with u. I don't think PT by any stretch would be op with a 5% increase to damage. I mean parse wise they low in 5.4 vs classes like mars and jug and sin far as melee is concerned, AP is ramp up where pyro is pressure.

     

    I think over all a small Dps boost and a defensive CD for immune would provide PT a balance current.

  2. Well yeah, the fact that they clearly don't know how to balance tank is frustrating. It's one of the reason that made me respec dps for PvE also. And still, I find it funny to see that my friends who play PvE sin tank still use Lethal mod B on NiM and HM Ops, because the payout is greater than the usual defense-based mod. As long as you know the mechanics you won't have any issue if you're using defensives correctly.

     

    A thing that could be interesting, would be to eventually improve the efficiency of tank stat, like Defense or else and make all tank-based ability (taunt, guard, intercede) be more effective when used with defensive stat. Not if used while playing tank, because it won't solve the skank problem, but giving another use to "Defense" could be interesting for game balance. :rak_02:

     

    I think making defense rating should be implemented. Take away shield and absorb rating and apply a one stat defense rating. Then tie that into the shield equipped where mitigation comes from defensive rating where you can't crit a tank and all sudden the word meat shield would apply.

     

    I mean its too spread out and needs simplified. Have a base rating cap for tanks to meet the requirement.

     

    Funny thing is all sudden pvp would change where tanks and healers would need focused better, like it should be. Games of attrition would happen.

    Let pt do 6k single target and leave op dcds as is and you may as well call it a comp, wet her it be solos or 4s.

     

    Not sure what your applying. PT damage is fine it lacks get outta jail free card they don't have where mostly rest of classes and specs have it. PT current isn't even a glass cannon, its a toilet paper spec. Wipes and does its job but can be ripped easily..

    Tank tunnel is a strat mate, not a comp. :)

     

    Which it seems only strat people use in ranked, tunnel the tank till he drops like a potato. :rak_03:

  5. If they're skank tanks, then they're not dps. Which means the answer is no.

     

    As was already mentioned, you can be the most skilled pvper in the game and have full 248's, but if you queue as a dps jugg against players with equal skill (their gear doesn't need to even come close to yours), you're finished pretty much instantly.

     

    Unless they modify ED to replenish percentage health for a set number of seconds instead of fixed health for a fixed number of charges, dps juggs will never be viable again. The next xpac may need to add another anti-focus passive called "Juggernaut/Guardian" (original I know) that does something like reduce all damage taken and done by 50% for 5 seconds. Damage done by the jugg would increase by 30% for each person attacking the jugg, further dissuading people from dog piling while the dc is active.

     

    I know I said yes, I should of said no not dps, but yes it can work. Also lol dps geared tank is actually a dps somewhat, not TRUE dps but dps hybrid.

     

    I hate it, trust me but its the meta due to people using a system that shouldn't be allowed.. :(

    As for the discussion you linked, the thing that bothers me about it is that it's Musco who talks. Not the class balance guy. Musco is nice and all, but he's a community manager. I doubt he has the knowledge to really answer these questions. He even said that his only time on the game was spent on the GTN. This kind of interview isn't worth much imo, because we don't know what the guy who does all these changes think.

    Also, I don't agree with all the question asked, but it would make sense for Snave to ask questions about things that bother him personally, like everyone would do.

     

    I agree with you, Musco is a nice guy and I think he is really trying. Snave asked him some really important balance questions where Musco was struggling to come out with anything that could give a glimmer of any direction. Sadly hearing discussions of balance issues and they KNOW tanks are not where they need to be indicates to me after a year they still have not figured out a way for tanks in this game to function properly with gear in pvp in the current 5.4.

     

    Ever since expertise was taken away and bolster was added, and mastery became the new stat tanks has not been in a great place at all. Also not to mention, dps geared tank being allowed and finally they took guard stance away from dps, so a band-aid did happen on that..

     

    Frustrating..

  7. It's not the IP thats the problem or the multiple accounts, they can get around that easy. What annoys me is the same accounts get banned and then come off the ban 3-6 months later,

    The person I'm referring to, and I think we all know who that is, has 10+ sub accounts last time I checked and they seem to just rotate through them. One gets banned, so they suspend paying that sub and move onto the next till it gets banned. Bioware never seem to perma ban those accounts or they wouldn't keep popping up every 3-6 months.

     

    People send Keith and Eric proof a lot, more than just the people posting here. It still takes them 2 weeks or more sometimes to ban the person, I've even seen it take 4-5 weeks after multiplie people have sent them proof and others have posted it on the forums. But it's not the hacker that gets the ban, it's the poster for providing proof for everyone to see. Bioware have the whole system completely backwards.

     

    I actually think it's healthy to post links or proof of suspected hacks. It would help educate people to know the differences between a hack and abilities. A lot of the hack calls in this game are wrong and it's people not understanding abilities, skill and mechanics. If we could actually post things, we could point out the differences to those who are confused. There would then be less mistaken hack calls and people would be able to identify real hacks properly and report them, instead of wondering if it was a hack or not. That would actually make the whole process much easier for Bioware because they'd have less investigating to do of mistaken calls.

     

    Some other games even name and shame players in the game. I saw a YouTube thing recently where cheaters had to wear dunces hats for cheating. In the same vid, another game developer publicly killed a notorious hacker in their game. While in other games in the past, cheats have had a title added to their name to shame them after their ban. I've also seen game companies who list the character names of perma banned toons when they do a big round up of cheaters and ban them at once. Then they announce they e dont this big ban sweep,

    I think it actually restores confindence that they are doing something. This softly, softly approach Bioware use, doesn't discourage cheaters and we have no confidence they care about the problem. Even when they do a sweeping ban, they never publically anounce it, like Blizzard does.

     

    Naming and shaming with proper policies in place to discourage cheating, does work a lot better than the way Bioware handle cheating here, which seems to be non existent most of the time.

    I do agree with all your saying btw, and hope you and us could get answers on it for us to feel they care, I know from personal experience just one post makes people feel at ease.

  8. Wow, nice work Keith. It's good to see you do this.

    But if you can do this, it's now time to take proper action against real and actual perpetrators.

    It's been a real shame Bioware won't perma ban the game's permanent hack troll from the game and the forums. It seems he gets a ban and it's lifted 3-6 months later. Even Eric admitted you never perma ban someone and it gets lifted after 12 months. So what's the deal with you perma banning Chris in the first place and not perma banning hacker trolls.

     

    I may be wrong but Keith wasn't around when I got banned from forums. I still played the game but couldn't post no more after I got infractions from post I made where people was offended by me.

     

    On your point I agree hackers should be IP banned permanent. But bet it's hard to keep track if so called hacker has multiple accounts. Also having proof like fraps or YouTube would help Keith to nail them.

  9. yea I highly doubt anyone can get in the 2k+ just solely doing dps as a jug, skank tank is defiantly the way to go until we get a buff.

     

    It why there is some decent rated jugs, I play Focus and Vil alot and wanna tank but cant because the current meta is all dps and skank tanks.

  10. But thats regs vs super undergeared players. I can globlal people who don't react on my PT as well. Energy Burst crits 32k+ on the opener. I mean yeah it's dmg is high my highest DPS playing AP in regs is 8.2k

     

    Gear don't matter in regs with current bolster it seems, I do feel like though its a flawed system and will continue to hope its taken away and we can get back expertise or even make mastery part of a pvp balance equation mate.

     

    Point PT has some insane burst moments, and if played right has potential to be amazing.

     

    Its laughable that a class that actually outdps's PT (carnage Marauder) has a 45 second get out of jail free card, ontop pf 4 dcds (if you specc into one) and yet PT is stuck with 1. No, god Kolto is not a dCD. shut your mouf.

     

    Which brings me to my point, I agree all other classes it seems has tons of better utilities to survive. The defensive nature of the current state of PVP for PT is bust your load but if focused IS a wet noodle. Sure in A premade state with a healer and a tank you could pose a threat, but you cant balance over that thinking, "Well get a good premade, you will be ok then"

     

    Not sure why PT was left to dry, either that double ap ranked season years ago caused thousands of emails or bioware decided well we going to put PT away for next year till we buff everyone else besides them. What strikes me is they gave merc all the tools necessary to survive, and never addressed current PT in the flaws of the specs.

  11. OT: Buff PT DPS not defensive cds. PT's best defense is their offense.

     

    Example of Damage Currently AP PT, even if its 5.2

     

    I don't think buffing damage is cure for PT mate, I play pretty hardcore and see the imbalance from PT standpoint vs playing another other class in this game.

     

    Defense is needed on PT current, sure little buff wouldn't be game breaking, I say 5%. :D

  12. If you believe Ops are the strongest class, maybe you should play one for a few days.

     

    They're okay for trolling and drawn-out dueling, nothing else, really.

     

    Ops are strong if played right forsure. Good players still can do well in ranked, harder road for success sure but has the abilities to outlast.

     

    Stealth > Reset

     

    If anyone taught us it was Mosh and others who did well in solo ranked and team ranked.

  13. There was players intersted in challenge even after 8*8 was deleted, but they quit a long time ago.

     

    Indeed mate, I am one of the last dying breed who misses 8 vs 8.

     

    I miss Illum pvp as well, miss old days.

     

    Now its regs and solo, which is still fun but not as competitive, why I play Warcraft arena still and League of Legends to get my fix on competitive team play.

     

    I still hope this game can get back to it, maybe in next Starwars mmo being made.

  14. 4*4 died a long time ago, in pre-season 1. The main reason is class balance, peoples don't want challenge, matchmaking - when hight rated team farm low rated again and again when few other q-dodge the best one, coz afraid to loose more rating and low rated just stopped to q, no-cross servers, no rating pools, poorly rewards - the same rewards in yolo and easilly to pick up there then in grp and others, other. Its a dead horse.

     

    Sadly yes. Rewards should never been reason to make a team though but whatever lol.

     

    No cross servers is kinda a excuse though, I mean harb and red ellipse has alot of pvpers, and yet nobody is doing team ranked.

     

    It seems nobody wants a harder road, and can make rating easier in solo.

     

    Why I think more incentive to do 4 man team ranked should be put in play, separate both and make team ranked more inviting.

     

    Adversity cant be taught, either you have it or you don't..

  15. U forgot monk and dh setups and others. There is big difference between WoW and swtor arenas, WoW is about class synergy and diminishing. Swtor idk what about, mb FOTM stack mostly - there was only few strong comps in years. Depends on patch, 2/3 PTs - double carbo, double carnage, double smash maras, deception-carnage(Roudy comp), double - hatred, double pyro, carnage-smash, double MM, AP PT - carnage, AP-PT mm and few others i don't remember all.

    And WoW don't have guard to swap. Tanks here are relevant in PvP. Not now as 3-rd dps, they broke all in 3.0+ times.

     

    I know I forgot some wow comps, wasn't my point mate. But comps do exist in this game, when you say fotm comps its the seasons meta. Each season for team ranked that is how it is, its normal to see it.

     

    Tanks and Healers isn't the meta, its the dps that is. People not using different strategy to provide adversity in ranked is why so many people complain about ranked. Nobody wants to do team ranked in this game because of diversity, not because of classes.

     

    Its alot easier for one good player to change outcome in solo, than it is in team ranked, when you have 3 or 4 in this case well oiled machines who play in sync, no denial of skill and preparation will be talked about.

     

    I played 8 vs 8, I remember the best of the best how well oiled they was, trust me a team put together can happen. I also have played really good 4 vs 4 in this game, and remember the struggle vs them.

     

    Bottom line it wasn't the classes, it was the players. You could mirror same classes vs best players and lose due to either lack of experience, to just the other team is just that good and it will take perfect play to beat it.

     

    Why sometimes I get frustrated with all this talk of fotm, or game is broken crap, cause alot of complaints is lack of experience vs good players.

     

    I am not saying there isn't imbalance, of course there is, but there is also a heaping pile of people that don't understand how to PVP properly either..

  16. Stealth is apart of PVP and will be.

     

    Its not reason ranked is having problems, actually its gimmick maps with acid that causes the problems.

     

    I do believe phase walk was taken away cause of ranked, so in a sense stealth was nerfed cause of it.

     

    Now its sorcs able to bubble during acid, or stealth playing hide and go seek which isn't illegal vs the TOS.

     

    Lame sure, but tactical non the less..

  17. Ez fix nerf sniper merc. The real question is r u ready to play against double pt in 4s again already?

     

    Nerfing one class does not solve another class to be balanced. PT is weak atm compared to other classes ability to survive, hence why PT needs some love.

     

    If everyone is worried about ranked having 3 pt one healer again, then players will have to adjust their comp vs it. Its what a meta does, it provides diversity and optimistic play styles to counter a strong comp in rank.

     

    For instance from warcraft terms in ranked,

     

    RMP rogue, mage, priest

    RLS rogue, (war)lock, shaman (restoration)

    MLS mage, lock, shaman (restoration)

    MLP mage, lock, priest

    WLS warrior, lock, shaman (restoration)

    PHD or PHDK paladin (holy), hunter, DK

    FMP feral druid, mage, priest

    LSD lock, elemental shaman, restoration druid

    LSD2 lock, restoration shaman, balance druid

    RRP retribution paladin, rogue, priest (usually healing, could equally be a paladin)

    KFC Kung-Fu Cleave -- warrior, hunter, healer

    TSG DK, warrior, healer

     

     

    My point is just because one comp is strong, does not mean another cant win. Ranked is about cc, dps hard swap, and timed attrition to perform a kill in team ranked. Good players adjust every season in warcraft and learn how to maximize their strengths and weakness in team arena aka ranked.

     

    Solo is just roll the dice and may the last lucky man win lol..

  18. I agree a item level should be required in ranked, a system should not allow anyone to just walk into a rank match to not only destroy those you play legit, but to ruin any ones ranked season.

     

    This should be a hot fix asap, and should of never been allowed in first place. Forget semantics of allowing people to have fun, and let PVP have its own identity.

  19. Playing one I notice damage is pretty darn good, but far as defensive its nowhere close to lets say mara. To me Jug and PT is pretty close but Jug actually has more staying alive moves.

     

    I see the damage coming from 5.2 in this video of Lunchbox

     

    And I ask myself, what else could PT benefit from current.

     

    My opinion damage is really good if geared right, and also played well, far as glass cannon I think that term never should exist because imbalance is the term if a class is a glass cannon.

     

    To sum it up, PT needs some form of better defense, a damage increase isn't in my opinion.

  20. I made this thread on my other account due to the combat team knowing the existence of tanks being able to wear dps gear, and past where dps could put guard on.

     

    I think all your post is viable and wanna thank Evolixe for his wonderful input since after all he is a old player and is very knowledgeable on class balance in this game. If there was a vote current he would be my number #1 along with Snave as class reps.

  21. I wanna thank you for allowing this original account to be brought back from the graveyard of banned. I emailed you last night and in less than 24 hours you responded. My past on these PVP Forums from beta since 2010 till 2012 till I was perm banned on these forums was over frustrations with the game I loved the most. I made post that should've of been in better mature taste and I have suffered from it. I feel like I am one of the oldest players left playing this game and you need people like myself to be able to hold a better standard on these forums to allow others not only to learn from my experience, but also help mold this game into a better direction.

     

    To sum it up Keith thanks so much, and thank you Bioware for allowing us to enjoy this game.
