  1. I believe I understand what you are trying to do here. Which is take what is essentially a required utility skill and break up its utility to strengthen other utility choices. Since the utility skills are supposed to provide choice to the player, having something that is required is wrong. In other words Defensive Forms was too strong.

First off, the much of the pushback you are getting on this change is due to the reality that nothing about Maras/Sents is too strong given the current meta.

Next, Fury | Centering is so closely tied to our ability to deal damage that having it as a utility seems wrong; it's essential. Said another way, we are a pure DPS class, and melee DPS at that. Thus, we have to be in melee range to deal damage, which means we are unable to avoid much AoE damage.

In effect, your change to Defensive Forums neutered a required utility that is still required. Thus, we are comparatively weaker now than previously.

This sums up my thoughts well. No need to say it again.

  2. The devs don't want feed back and don't listen to it.

The only thing trying to post on these forums will get people is disappointed. If you don't like how things are going no amount of posting constructive or otherwise will make any difference.

Then i suggest you stop wasting your time posting.

  3. True but, what else are we going to to do to encourage them, even if their job description or not (even if it might be their own fault for this). The community is already Toxic and Devs have ignored most of the stuff for too long. We don't need to be grateful (We can give thumb sup and probably encourage for what it should be standard and hope more of the communication like this happens in the future) and we don't need to make any crazy demands but reasonable once.

The game isn't perfect, nor are the developers but I appreciate their work because if they didn't do it we wouldn't have a game. I also think that the changes in the last couple patches have been positive steps. I'd like to see the watchman rotation get a bit more dynamic again and be a little more mobile in pvp but they've said these are areas they're looking at. In regards to watchman I liked the shorter duration faster ticking dots myself. From a mobility standpoint the movement impairment immunity on Force Exhaustion is a great step, I'm curious to see how a similar change is implemented to the other 2 specializations. I'd argue that it's just as needed if not more so for watchman and combat.

  4. I got "No plan to increase damage output directly, but we are looking at self-healing and more mobility internally" out of this. I don't think damage needs addressed. It's fine.

I'm more about QoL around Contemplation being made a passive for all Sentinels/Maruaders. Defensive forms being made passive and replaced by something and a mobility improvement possibly at the Masterful or Skillful tier. That's my wish list. Damage is ok in the PvP theatre.

Thanks for sharing this information Eric. I think you guys are on the right track! :rak_01:

  5. I think something non faction based would be the most pragmatic. They have the tools they need on Ilum. Just instance it to keep it to numbers the engine can handle. The Western Ice Shelf could function as that instanced zone and above 30 players total players it would create a new instance. Biggest problem I believe is the faction imbalance. Only solutions i see is for them to make it faction independent somewhat like warzones or a queue system in which case there would be a longer queue for Imps than Pubs.
  6. As I do mostly ranked PvP I think the 3.1.1 proposed changes look pretty strong. I could care less about a 3 min cooldown on GBTF since it rarely comes up 2x in a match. I'm also withholding judgement on the Leg Slash change till I have a chance to test it out some more. The Force Camo change is nice but at first blush doesn't appear huge. I'll enjoy testing that out as well.

I'd really like to see defensive forms made a passive since it's SUCH a baseline utility and I'd like to see the Centering/Fury building on regen become passive as well. Those are big big QOL issues to me.

  7. I also am of the camp that would like to see Transcendence/Predation stay on the Centering/Fury mechanic. But I would I would like to see it improved more than it is now. Options I'd like to see are the following, pick one or two not all:

    • Baseline speed increase for Sentinel only
    • Baseline cleanse for Sentinel only
    • Utility to grant party speed and grant Sentinel additional DR
    • Utility to grant party speed and grant Sentinel Saber Screen/Blazing Ward/ Concentrated Defense
    • Utility that grants some movement immunity when combined with other skills such as GbTF or Force Camo or Saber Ward?

Those could be ways to improve it. Ultimately I like having the choice between using Transcendence and using Zen. But I think the defensive tradeoff should be worth the loss of offense through Zen.

  8. First of all my comments are coming from a PvP perspective in regards to ranked play.

You've got alot of good ideas but if they implement half of them we'll be super overpowered.

I like the Guarded by the Force suggestion.

I don't think the Saber Ward suggestion is needed.

Expunging Camo being usable while stunned is a 45 sec stun breaker with a 50% damage reduction and 6 sec of CC immunity? That's too powerful. 6 sec of CC immunity is OP with Combat spec anyway IMO.

I agree about leg slash - it's trash. Replace it with Crippling Throw

I agree that Just Pursuit could then be made to give Crippling Throw a root. I'd rather it not be on the Heroic tier though.

I agree too many rebuke talents in skillful tier. Maybe give rebuke a stun break - combine Jedi Enforcer with Displacement and move up to heroic?

Everyone gets defensive forms - it really could be baseline.

In my perfect world combat would play similarly to how it did in 2.10. I could get Contemplation, Fleetfooted, and have a root on Crippling Throw. I'd be good with that. I think in regards to survivability a change GbtF would go a long long way.

  9. Bingo. For combat/carnage, really the only other issue is the small size of precision window, and removal of CT. Give me unremitting as a combat sent, and my game experience is much better, immediately. That is why it is just more rewarding and far less frustrating to play my vigi guard right now. I actually get to get in melee range and stay in melee range to get into a rotation, which you have to do, for a time. Sents HAVE NOTHING that is as satisfying as force push, resetting fleap and BINGO, another 4 sec of cc immunity.

As a vigi guard, I can leap in, AOE SLOW (freezing force, intervention passive is AWESOME), apply a DoT(s), SPREAD THE DoT, all before they can do crap. It is EXACTLY what a melee class needs in this game to cope in the cc arms race. Then I can always leap back with guardian leap to a friendly healer, give them a bonus and set myself up for ANOTHER Leap in and 4 sec damage reduction and cc immunity, if I need to create distance, and my fpush is on cooldown. AGAIN, sents HAVE NOTHING THIS GOOD, no set of TOOLS this good. NOWHERE CLOSE. Vigi guard is like the best of watchman (3 dots, plus dot spreading), the best of combat (decent burst and the time on target tools to actually use it), all with some of the best utility and DCDs in the game. Saber ward, saber reflect, enure, challenging call, focused defense, plus the same awe and f stasis that sents have.

I agree we need some better tools in the toolbox but I'd rather have something different than Unremitting. It's a great ability and all - I have no problem with it but just to keep different playstyles between classes I'd rather have something based off of Sentinel functionality even though the end result would be improved uptime on the target.
