  1. Good to know that they all work these days in PvE and OPs.
  2. Will try this question here guys. Was going to be returning into the game after having to have been away for a time, and so wanted some class info. I mainly do PvE stuff and focus on the whole DPS side of the house. I have wanted to pick up a force user and run with it, but have been confused trying to read up on the state of them in the new expansion. I actually like the Shadow, the Guardian, and the Sentinel each for their own reasons (They all bring something neat to the table). I don't know their viability though in the light of 5.0 in terms of soloability in the PvE environment, and also for joining in Op's to be able to see that side of the storyline also. It seems from what I have been reading that the shadows are in a good place, Guards seem to be in a good place, while the Sentinels seem to have taken a nerf bat (That might be just people being upset with the changes though). So I just wanted some advice from the community on which of the three might be a good option to make a run to 70 with. Hope that you guys can help me figure out how things are with the classes. lol. Thanks in advance. Cheers

  4. Thanks for the info. Good to know that it works still in 4.0. Thanks.
  5. Hey everyone, Coming back into the real world after being overseas for a time and have been trying to get back into the swing of SW, and wanted an opinion on what might be in a good place to jump into for 4.0. I mainly do the PVE and DPS thing and have to solo a lot of the time simply because of the whole time constraints thing. I used to play a shadow a lot in the Infiltration side of the class and loved sneaking around and getting around stuff. It had always been a fav so I figured I would ask in this forum section. Tried my hand also at the Watchman Sent and the Guard also simply because I like the whole melee end of the spectrum. Just wanted to know which is in a good place in 4.0 to go play in the new content. Is shadow in a good place, or are one of the other Jedi in a better place to handle all the challenges out there? Hope that you guys can help me on my way. Thanks a bunch.
  6. Hey all, Been trying to do a bit of research and with the x12 exp thing happening figured might be an option to come back and re-level something. Got lost somewhere between here and there with big patches and don't know what is in and out of fashion with the devs class wise, and what is effective and not realistically very effective. I do a lot of PvE mostly, and occasionally when I have time I try to jump into a party to do an OP or what not. I have played most of the class story lines so far, and have tried a nice cross section of the classes. But since I am out of practice completely I wanted to start something over. I like staying power and also damage. Being a paper buzz saw gets annoying after getting smoked over and over again. I would also like something that might be fun for a group to have around. So far I am seeing that a few of the newer content is not as melee friendly as people might like, ranged seems to do a bit better on some of the newer things, and apparently stuff like Sentinels/Marauder does not do as well in the defense department these days. I like the force using stuff, but never got into the shadow/sage side of things. Ranged wise, had done the BH side of the house, an assassin, and a gunslinger. All in all just wanted some advice on the state of the game in terms of how some of the classes are handling content these days, and suggestions on which direction might be awesome to proceed for PvE survivability/DPS, as well as what people like in OPs. Thanks for helping an old timer back into the game guys.
  7. Hey guys and gals, Been out of the game for a bit, and so am coming back and wanted to know how certain things were with the state of the game class wise with recent updates. Been trying to decide on what to pick up again class wise so didn't know what direction to aim at. Mainly deal with the PvE side of the game, and like to live on the DPS side of the house. Before I took off I tried my hand at Sentinel/Mara, Sniper, Guardian, and ended my trip with Shadow. With some of the newer stuff didn't know what to jump behind again. Just want to have fun, blow some stuff up, and handle a lot of the stuff soloish due to time constraints sometimes. I have tried to read up on some stuff, and things just seem confusing. Just wanted some advice and insight that people might have about the classes in general so I can get back into the swing of things properly. Just wanted a different way of looking at things that might help me grab one and have fun in the game again. Hope you guys can help.
  8. Is it easier to handle things as a Kinetic these days or going DPS like? Played one a long time ago, don't know what to expect post 2.0.
  9. I honestly think that a nerf is badly needed for the Sorc. In 50 PvP one day I got killed in 6 seconds and I was on my tank. 15k hp gone in seconds. No there was no one else shooting me, I was not being attacked by missiles or alien death rays. It was one Sorc who blew me away and then proceeded to kill 2 other people before I respawned. That was a what the hell moment. My buddy thought I was exaggerating and has a fairly well decked out trooper sitting at 16k hp. So one day at full health he sees a Sorc and decides to see what the heck I was talking about. First blast of 5 seconds nailed him for 12k damage, and then he was two shotted when the next hit blasted him for the remaining 4k. So recently I was raising my sent cause I like the two lightsaber thing. Trying to get the bladefury set so I was PvPing like mad in the pre-50 PVP venue. At level 36 I see a Sorc and since I get twitchy cause of the damage that they do I launch myself at the 26 Sorc. I am at full health and bang, all 12k damage gone in 5 seconds. Dead. WOW. Over the next little while I watched the charts at the end of the matches and Sorc's were almost always at the top of the damage and usually to the tune of 300k+ damage. The most I saw was at 370k. The closest was 210k in that match, and this was a pre-50 venue. WOW. Those numbers never appear unless the lightning starts crackling around, and when it does and I get smoked by it, I look back and 5 other guys just respawned around me. Lightning being able to 2 shot a decked out trooper at 50 is a bit much, but 12k damage in 5 seconds is a bit much for pre-50. This discussion is moot anyway because the devs will not be changing the Sorc in any way. I submitted two bug reports because obviously there has to be a bug with the lightning. It is listed as 'Energy' on the skill although it ignores all defenses. Leaves me to believe that the coding has the skill doing elemental damage which means it bypasses pretty much everything. But they were nice enough to delete the bug reports on me instead of acknowledging them. Do not pass go, do not collect $200, and we wont be submitting it to the right department (Which to do to any other help request). They don't want to hear that the Sorc needs to be tweeked a bit to make it in line with every one else. They were actually interested in the exploit that Sorc's found with their channeled lightning (Thanks to the sorc that webcasted his PvP and then showed how the exploit worked), but not in the power set itself being broken. So all you sorc's can breathe a sigh of relief. They will let you keep your elemental damage. They want you to keep it apparently. So let's to play a nice game of huttball.
  10. As a Sent I can be a handful but I am by far not the most powerful thing in a PvP match. I crank out nice numbers and do my job which is to harass the enemy, but when I die, and I will die, I am surrounded by 4 other guys that had just been blown to hell by a bounty hunter, or two shotted by a Sorc. I have to kill people one at a time, they can blow 3 or so guys away at a time. In terms of a numbers game, as a Sent I don't win. But at least I look cool while trying. lol.
  11. Cool it is good to know that there is a life for a DPS specced Guardian outside of PvP. lol. Thanks guys for your experiences. ^.^
  12. Hey guys, Sorry for this question because it has probably been asked before, but I can't find a good answer between a lot of the discussions so I hope that you bear with me. I wanted to play a DPS type that is viable in PvE and PvP. The Vanguard Assaulter seems to do some nice things in PvE as well as the PvP aspect due to their heavy elemental damage. Wanted to play a Jedi type so looked at the Guardian in the Focus tree to see if they were similar in that respect that they were heavies that could do some cool stuff in both venues. Wanted people's experiences that have been tinkering with both environs. Thanks for the help guys.
  13. Don't know what kind of Scoundrel you are playing but there are two on my server in a huttball the opposing team shudders. The first is a DPS type that might not do 100% well in a group fight but he is smart enough to pick and chose his battles. My buddy is a Commando in fully decked out Champion gear for PvP and this scoundrel still pops out and completely and totally destroys him 1V1. There is no contest. My buddy has been PvPing with his Commando since day one and he couldn't get a real skill off. The scoundrel had him down and dead in no time. It was really a rather sobering experience for my buddy who has done 300k runs with 0 deaths. The second scoundrel is a healing scoundrel and ran into my buddy in another fight. Did not to as much damage but my buddy couldn't do enough damage between stuns and shotguns to the back to outdamage the heals the scoundrel was throwing on himself. It was funny to watch him try his best and get nowhere fast. Now if he gets the drop on them it is over, but the point is that they pick their fights, and come out when they know they are going to destroy something sitting off on their own. Even against a fully decked out trooper they are the scourge of PvP in Huttball. The only thing that comes even close to what a scoundrel will do to him is the broken lightning damage that Sorc's throw out. The skill can say it is energy but that is another story. So the moral of the story is that if you know what you are doing on one, they can do some scary scary stuff. But the recentish nerf made it so that you needed to actually work for the elite status instead of just running on with a Sorc and spam lightning, or Trooper/BH and spam grave round/tracer missile and hitting the easy button.
