  1. My point wasn't that they're over powered, or game breaking. Just that the idea of a sniper in a space flight is kinda dumb. There are other ways to have more "classes" in space combat.
  2. Is it just me or does the idea of the current gunship role just seem dumb in a space fighting scenario? To me a gunship would probably have the same speed and maneuverability but focus more on extremely heavy close range fire power. It would be better if it could fire in multiple directions, not unlike the Millennium Falcon. Maybe have a front firing cannon and top and bottom or side mount quad cannons. They could either be computer controlled, some sort of ability, or better yet have a couple people jump in the gunner seats(I'm sure that's asking too much). It would also be heavily armored, but susceptible to proton torpedoes and concussion missiles. They also need to find a way to incorporate bombers. The bombers could have the same auxiliary cannon mechanic, although less damaging. Bombers would be proton torpedo and concussion missile specialists, able to fire them at longer range. They would have to be much larger ships so they're easy to spot and take down to avoid being OP. They should have also some counter measures to avoid locks other than barrel rolls, etc. Like dropping chaf and flares. Overall GSF is better than I expected, which is rare for this game. Though it is still a far cry far cry from a space sim. It actually might be enough to keep me playing for a while longer.
  3. Just a thought here, haven't tested it or anything. Since we have the talents to increase our crit damage with shadow strike, project and force breach, wouldn't it be better to stack crit to get the percentage up and power to get the base damage up. Not to mention will power which helps both. I don't know if surge is capped at 100% with the talents or not, I would imagine not. This might also allow us to get more accuracy(105% to 110%) to make everything hits. Also we could put more alacrity in to help with force regen because although it is vastly improved, I still find myself starved at times. Admittedly I haven't spent a lot of time on my shadow in 2.0 yet, so the force issue might get better with practice. On side note, does anyone know what the DR is looking like for crit on the mainstat. I hear people saying they've got around 2600 main stat. I know pre 2.0 I capped my sent around 2000 and stacked power after that.
  4. Do you people actually believe this was a bug? That's just their way of raising the cost without catching too much flak for it. My guess is that they feel there is too much money floating around with inflated prices of some things on the GTN. They're just trying to cause deflation. Other than that I see no reason for them to raise repair costs. Doesn't bother me much because we use guild funds for repairs on ops and I don't die much otherwise.
  5. This along with a smaller gap between tiers will go a long way to fixing PVP in SWTOR. I think you do need something of a gear grind, but right now it's just ridiculous. Unless you're in a PVP guild and spend all your time PVPVing the grind is too long right now. With smaller gear gaps and static expertise, a skilled player will be able to take out a better geared but inferior player. Right now a full BM cannot for the most part take out a full WH unless they're horrible. It will also make it less horrible to pug when you don't get stuck with a bunch of fresh 50's or casual players in recruit against a pre-made with full WH. At least if you lose it won't be a complete faceroll. Now all they have to do is fix the perma-stuns and horrible class balance. They should at least make snares and roots add to your resolve, that right there would make a big difference. And why is it that every time they buff or nerf something to "balance" PVP, it ends up creating some huge imbalance somewhere else? OK, that's enough of my off topic rant.
  6. I know this is more of a recruitment thread, but I am trying to do the same thing in Outer Rim Templars. We are also mostly PVE and it's a struggle to find enough people consistently in my guild to run ranked WZs. What I'm proposing is that we maybe form some sort of partnership. I run a weekly PVP night on Thursaday's for ORT. We do 50 WZs, Lowbie WZs, and have team battles in the Outlaws Den for our activities on these nights. We also like to raid Imp bases in Ilum and Belsavis to stir up trouble. We're also working on an idea for a Royal Rumble/Battle Royal type event. Seeing as we both have the same problem in our respective guilds I think we could both benefit from this. My main toons are Fosmeros and Shukur. Whisper me in game if this sounds like something you and you guild might be interested in.
  7. I too like this idea a lot. I rarely get to do ranked because my guild is mostly PVE orientated. I've been trying to get more of my guildies to PVP with a little success. But we really don't have enough good PVP players who are also geared to do ranked. I'm gonna subscribe to this thread and see if something gets going with this.
  8. It is not just about bad players blaming it on pre-mades. 4 people who know how each other think and are well geared plus 4 pugs are going to beat 8 people that know what they are doing but maybe don't have the greatest gear and aren't always on the same page. Not to mention pre-mades are probably mostly in mumble or vent, so that gives them an advantage over having to type in the chat box in pugs. The fact of the matter is that more often then not pre-mades are just farming lesser geared and less organized pugs. Besides, how often do you get queued with 7 other players that really know what they are doing. Chances are at least a couple of them are either not very good, or have only recruit gear. Pre-mades should always go up against other pre-mades unless there are none. They should also maybe make it possible to queue for ranked with a 4-man pre-made to get matched with another. This could make ranked a little better so you don't get pitted against the same one or two teams over and over.
  9. I would maybe buy into it for sages/sorcs. And that's only because they get focused like they are healers weather they are or not. Not because they are not capable DPS.
  10. It happens to everyone occasionally. As others have stated I will often guard a turret or door because I know 99 out of 100 times I will call inc. The biggest frustration is when you call and help doesn't come. This is especially bad considering my PVP main is a vanguard tank and I can hold off two or three people for a decent amount of time if I have all my cool-downs (including freeze grenade). One thing I personally feel is that solo guarding should almost always be done by a tank so help has enough time to get there. A stealth spec DPS can do it if they know what they are doing. I hate it when sents guard a turret because they should be helping where the action is attacking healers.
  11. I agree. When I first transferred from Juyo I didn't instantly know what side grass or snow was(I never heard anyone use that terminology on Juyo). North, south, east, or west need no explanation or thought to understand. Left or right works on Alderann, but I hate when people use it on Voidstar.
  12. I think it is needed. I think having a PVP gear grind is necessary to have a reward for PVP. I know that PVP itself is a reward, but it also needs something more "tangible". People who only PVE or mostly PVP can still cross to a certain extent. You shouldn't be able to do hard mode or nightmare ops with War Hero gear. The same goes for dominating in Rakata in PVP. You can however do storymode ops in recruit or better gear, and recruit gear is not expensive if your doing PVE dailies. IMHO either side is not overwhelmingly difficult to break into if you primarily have only done the other. The biggest problem with PVP vs PVE is the lack of dual spec. There is no spec that works equally well for both PVE and PVE. There are some that aren't bad(ie: watchman spec for sentinel), but there are some that are downright useless(full sheild spec for vanguard). A way to switch armor/weapon sets without having to equip each individual piece would be nice too. Instituting the rated warzones and other PVP changes would help matters as well. I think the biggest reason PVP is broken right now is that they only put in half the changes in 1.2. Many of the changes seem to have been meant to work with changes that got scrapped at the last minute.
  13. Here's my take on what needs to be fixed and not fixed. 1. Pre-mades should get a debuff when facing pugs 2. If you have kids and need to quit in the middle of a match because of them, then pvp at another time. 'm a parent too, I don't PVP while my daughter is up, I'll do PVE stuff that I can walk away from and come back 5 minutes later. 3. People need to be a little more patient. A lot of people quit at the first sign of trouble. You can come back from a loss. To me the most rewarding matches are come from behind victories, or even ones where you almost come from behind. 4. You can't debuff gear on pugs, it removes the incentive to grind for better gear. 5. There should be a way to tell the difference between a DC and a quitter. I think a 15 min. lockout, or being locked out from other WZs besides the one you quit from is reasonable. However, I do see the flaws in this. It does keep you in the cycle of being in WZs with mostly the same people, many of whom may be the reason your quitting the match. And it could result in people just standing there, which is worse than them leaving the match. 6. The queue system could do a better job of putting similarly geared people together. But this depends heavily on the server and time of day. Sometimes there just isn't enough people queueing for this kind of stuff to work. 7. Cross server PVP is needed IMO. 8. Bioware needs to hurry up and implement the changes that were supposed to be in 1.2. They really need to get there priorities straight, and the Legacy System is pretty far down the list IMO. 9. People need to listen to the advice of others in a match. In my experience, most of the time if people are giving orders or suggestions in a WZ it is because they know what they are talking about. Nothing aggravates me more than losing a match we should have won because people don't listen.
  14. Darth Plagious probably. Maybe even Darth Bane a little bit. I don't think he ever killed anyone just for the sake of killing them, I seem to remember him sparing people who were inconsequential. Definitely Revan. Other than that, I would say you probably describe a "Dark Jedi". They're not necessarily hell bent on ruling the galaxy and what not. They usually just want to lead their own life, but are deemed dark by the traditional Jedi.
  15. 1. I agree with the Kashyyk/Trandosha expansion idea, maybe when they increse the level cap to 60 or something. 2. Yavin IV has to be incorparated somehow, at least a flashpoint. 3. Mon Calamari slightly over Manaan, because we have to have a water world. Probably part of the expansion stroy arc. 4. If/when they implement open space battles, a warzone or flash point to battle over the Hypori, Kuat, or Mon Calamari ship yards. 5. Ziost in some way. 6. Maybe an operation on Onderon and Dxun. 7. Mustafar because we need a volcanic planet in some way, 8. Geonosis for either a warzone or even an open world PVP 9. Chiss space. Either an operation or story arc of some sort. 10. Mandalore 11. Bothowi
  16. For those arguing about cannon. GL doesn't care about cannon. He only cares about money and what ever cannon fits his agenda at that time to make money. I respect the man for making a franchise that I love, but that's as far as it goes. As others have pointed out, he constantly lies, back pedals, and down right changes his mind and says deal with it. I honestly believe some of the stuff he does to intentionally spite the hardcore fans. Sort of a see what happens when you ***** kind of thing. In my opinion, cannon is whatever each individual makes it because the universe is that screwed up. I choose to make Boba alive, the emperor dies at the end of ROTJ, and Han shot first. There are just to many contradictions for there to be a true cannon. Frickin' comic books have easier to follow cannon sometimes, and that's bad. Also, someone mentioned Boba preceding Ironman. I'm pretty sure that is wrong, I just don't feel like googleing it to prove it.
  17. I named my vanguard Shukur. I found a mando dictionary with google and it means "Break Stuff" in Mandalorian.
  18. I think a big reason for the lack of endgame PVE stuff in this patch(other than dailies on Corelia) is that there were serious class balance, PVP, and UI issues that they are addressing. I think this patch address those issues in a major way, other than world PVP. I suspect as these game play issues taper off over the the next major patch or two the amount of endgame will increase for subsequent ones. I think in about six months the game will start to bring back the people who are just MMO fans and not just Star Wars fans. Me personally, I still love the game. I have plenty to do as is with only a lvl 50 Sent and lvl 36 Vanguard, I have a lot more classes to play and haven't even gotten into ops yet because of scheduling conflicts within my guild.
  19. It could just be random bad luck, but I have noticed it as well. When I leveled my sent as my first roll it seemed like very rarely did I get good gear out of flashpoints and heroics. When I did it always seemed to come in bunches and sometimes others in the group complained. My vanguard seems to fare better, but I hardly run FPs and heroics with him because it's impossible to get a pug nowadays. I've often wondered if the class of the person who started the group had an impact on the type of gear in any particular instance.I usually joined pugs started by others with my sent, but usually start them with my trooper.
  20. This was always the case in KOTOR too. I think it's whole dark side is the easy path thing. But in an MMO it creates balance issues. There should be something to offset this, like more commendations for light side options.
  21. Google Mandolorian dictionary. I named my trooper Shukur, which is Mando for break stuff. I know Mandalorian troopers isn't as good a fit as it is for bounty hunters, but most Mando'a aren't the scum they're made out to be. I did like the ancient Egyption and Aztec theme someone mentioned earlier. I use ancient Greek for my Jedi, never thought of the other two though.
  22. I would also like to see a water planet. Mon Calamari would be great as there are two common Star Wars species from that planet. Kashyyk and Yavin IV are two more I would really like to see. Dathomir is also one you don't hear about much that I would like to see.
  23. Real space combat (could be planetary as well)with 360 degrees of freedom. Missions like the cliche flying into deathstar/space station to destroy it. Imagine PVP dogfights, awesome.
