Great idea.
But, I have not heard about people complaining about too many guilds, in my opinion, there should be plenty of choice. One of the biggest problems I have encountered is large guilds. When a guild is over a certain size, you start to get clicks of individual groups and sometimes a large guild can be the loneliest place on the planet!
Thats why I created a small guild, so I could keep everyone involved. I think guilds should stay around 150 members, which should give a reasonable daily active rate. When guilds are huge, the churn rate is much higher, mainly due to the fact they feel there is no benefit in staying with the guild in comparison to solo.
However, if you like big guilds then join a big guild. If you like the more personal guilds, then choose a small guild. Either way, its good to have choice in my humble opinion.
