I'm really not sure why there's an argument about this to begin with. Someone in EA decided that there needed to be 6 hours of downtime to do what they needed to do during the maintenance. That's all anyone here needs to know. Move on, and if you like arguing about such things so much then get a career in Information Systems.

FYI. There are certain routine maintenances that need to be done to servers that DO require downtime, and it doesn't mean it's anything critical. Sorry bud.

Because it's not needed to put that kind of information in. You never state to a customer deficiencies for your product directly. Why would we need to know this sort of detail, the only thing relevant to the customer is two things - uptime and downtime. When they can use the product or service and when they can't. Revealing behind the scenes information is something that none of us as paying customers should ever know, period.

Maintenance is a necessity, go study software/hardware. Then get back to me. ZOMG I GOTTA GO AND SPEND 30 MINUTES TO GET MY OIL CHANGED SO MY CAR STILL CONTINUES TO RUN. That's what you sound like. Quit whining about crap you know nothing about.

The first 3-4 months of WoW was nothing but maintenance downtime....like literally WHOLE DAYS.

People complain about latency/lag, performance issues, etc... People complain about maintenance. People can't be happy.

I've had no problem with any of the classes I've played, and their companions. Seems like you're just generalizing your complaint. Fail.

Getting so uptight about a video game is probably the reason you're divorced in the first place. Use more energy on things that actually matter.

What class and spec? Depending on the class I can take on most 50's with my Shadow. Operatives and Juggernaughts are the two I have the hardest problem with.

Bad Shadows use SS right off the bat. Good Shadows understand how buffs/procs work and steer clear of SS unless find weakness is up because they know they can do the same amount of damage with other skills for less force. Logic, some people have none.

I went to the movies last weekend to see a 2 hour movie that I didn't know if I was going to enjoy or not. In the end, me and my girl ended up spending ~ 35 dollars...for 2 hours of entertainment. You pay 15 bucks a month for ~720 possible hours of entertainment. That my friend, is value.

Shadows are quite harsh on a graphics card, so this could be the problem. In order for your computer to process the shadow it gets to go through a huge in-game calculation of what that shadow should look like at all times based on the built lighting in the game. Shadows are probably the single hardest thing to calculate graphics wise, or anything lighting really.

Please keep Space Combat the way it is. I like the arcade-galaga feel while still being able to upgrade the ship. I do not want space exploration or free form flying around. If I wanted that, I'd go to a game that's mastered it called EVE. Anythnig less than what CCP has done with EVE would be a disappointment. /thread

After playing LOTRO for 4 years I base nothing on launch. LOTRO was plagued with a good amount of bugs when it first came out, and rather little content. It had a nice consistent playerbase though. Turbine fixed a good deal of bugs added some instances and raids and 4 years later, their playerbase has consistently grown. Unheard of from an MMO, but whatever. I plan on staying in SWTOR for awhile. I have confidence that Bioware will make some corrective actions, the little that are needed.

I commend you on representing us very well I now have a family and a career these days. While the inner-geek still resides, responsibility comes first!

Did you play EQ? Or are you just stating that based on your "hard mode" raids in WoW? Vanilla WoW was ok, the raids were pretty tough for those on servers where they were the first ones to enter and try out the mechanics...anything after that was fail... WOTLK? HAHA, where you could just spam bubble the tank and steam roll the raids Yeah, OK.
