  1. This game does indeed seem too "tanky/slow"

I've played quite a few MMOS and I must say that people are too tanky, wether it comes from too many D cds, or healing output is hard to tell.

So, I agree with the issue, but the suggested solution is way off. Wouldnt be smart.

  2. So I came back to SWTOR for this new exp and apparently you have 50% risc to get this UI bug where you lose important parts of your UI.

CTR + U does not work, and I've tried to search around the web to look for a solutions and it appears that there is none? What I did discover is tat this bug has been around since 2012 which is pretty disgusting to say the least?

May I ask what is being done to this bug? Also, does anybody have a fix of some sort?

    /dissapointed

  3. There are a lot of expectations to MMOs that feature PvP.

And then, as it is an MMO, there is a lot of different people with different backgrounds who bring different opinions as to whats right and whats wrong. This naturally causes conflict for those who has a hard time expressing themselves in a civil manor.

Even those who do act reasonably will inevitably be pested and sink to the same level as those who presented an uncomprehending ignorance to begin with.

Thus we have a, society if you will, that effectively devolves.

This will not change before game developers require consumers to undergo a IQ test in order to purchase the game.

  4. ROFL if they reset it to original it would be the same it hasnt changed for me nor any good sent we already did that much damage lol like i said people who dont know what there classes do hybird socrs/sage yes ops 3 stuns smugs gunslinger/ snipes 3 stuns lol more then just one bud and bioware is actually not listening becuase unlike most ive seen here they dont understand the whole dynamic for example lol guarded by the force was just mentioned um lets see lasts 5 secs not to mention 50% of your current health goes bye bye instantly its a last ditch effort to live ability lol and it was there prior to 1.2!!!!! the only notible change has been valor in tier 1 and force kick nothing else has changed! all sentinel defenses are long cooldowns people without the cooldowns sentinels have only one defense which is kill there opponent lol all those abilites were there prior to 1.2 all of them learn the game guys.

    Okay FFS MATE. Use ENTER

  5. Right after 1.2 went live I thought the ttk was through the roof. I started to wonder why.

Here's what I did to answer my question.

For a full day I kept a calculator open on one of my secondary screens, while waiting for matches to start I inspected every person in the group and averaged the expertise across the group. The groups in which people went splat had an average expertise of 500 or less.

The groups that were the most competitive the average expertise across the group exceeded 800. Bear in mind it only takes one person to que up with 0 to really hurt the average across the entire group.

Thanks George for joining the discussion. What you posted pretty much confirms what I have observed.

Way to many people are queing up with pve gear or the old centurion/champ gear on.

TTK is also lower on people with BM gear etc.

  6. No, no, I totally get that, and agree completely. But the higher expertise is giving them an even greater advantage. Not only do they have more aim/str/cunning/will, they also have more expertise. Their gear gives them an advantage in every area. I understand wanting to separate PvE from PvP. What I don't understand is giving one set of PvP'rs an advantage over another set of PvP'rs, based on who wins the most, or spends the most time in WZs, or has a lifestyle that allows for grinding.

PvE is about gear, stats, etc. PvP should be about the competition. Some ability to customize my gear to my specific spec is needed and wanted. But I don't want an artificial 'leg-up' for either myself or the competition. I want to be able to choose power over accuracy, but at comparable values. I want to be able to make my character look how I want, but I don't want stats that make someone of the same class better than my character, in a PvP setting. I don't like expertise, and I don't like a gear disparity in PvP. It isn't 'fun,' it isn't 'challenging', it is annoying. If I am beat by superior player, hats-off. If I am beat cause I screwed up, my bad. If I am beat because the other guy hits harder, and takes less damage than me, I am pissed.

You cannot have a competition where one party gets to pump steroids, and the other team only gets water.

    I agree.

I think the gear grind model can work, if only there were 2 tiers each season and that the stats difference was very very minor. It'd keep the incentive for grinders to keep grinding and a skilled player would still be able to beat a ''better'' geared players cause skill would still be the determining factor.

Or they could make everyone equal geared and then reward grind/a lot of time spend, on vanity or similar rewards, how ever none that'd give you an advantage.

It does how ever seems like BW does not have the gut to put this into action.

  7. I understand where you are coming from, and this is precisely what I meant. You know how to help your healer and protect them. The other team is ineffective at stunning and interrupts. This is why I felt that DPS were complaining for nerfs in the first place because they were not playing their class as effectively as they could be. But you have the correct mindset and that's why you most likely win. Because you have teamwork and understand your class mechanics.

That and the fact that they did not pile up kills fast enough

  8. By hardcore u mean geeks with no social life? Losers boosting there ego by rolling fotm classes and exploiting anything they can? Loudmouths on fleet deciding who should be allowed to pvp? Fools who post there meaningless valor level in there sig? Or all of the above?

Wow a lot of resentment. Comes down to the definition of hardcore (as always)

Dont sink to the same level as those you describe though ;)

  9. Wall of text, but really stopped at "voidstar has almost no cover."

    .... What?

Yeah healers were nerfed, but really, adapt or die. Kite more (voidstar in particular is retardedly healer friendly).

Thats a pretty bad logic. While there is some merit to it, people seem to have more incentive to just leave this game altogether. PvP is not impressive at this point and competitors are just around the corner.

  10. A bit drastic and infact quite a long post but I agree with most of your points completely.

Sadly most DPS will infact have the attention span of the goldfish.

" BIG NUMBERS - BAEM BAEM - IWIN BUTTON - KKTHXBB" is all what's on their mind...

I know a lot of good PVP-players (even DPS) who have quit SWTOR due to the changes in 1.2. They enjoyed the first 2-3days and by then at the latest realised the game is broken.

Im a dps and im strongly against many of the 1.2 changes.

I dont enjoy zerg fest, I didn't think healers were so amazing pre 1.2 as people claimed. Those who like the healer changes are usualy the same people who like the new TTK. They want a zerg DPS fest instead of a tactical match were they actually have you utilize their CC abilities and coordination abilities.

    Cruel world indeed.

Lastly, OP you are abit over the top with your toning indeed. I do however know how frustrating it is when you have to cope with completely ignorant people who are trying to change the mmo genre to FPS. Civil gives you more credibility though :) (im not a saint, I do the same :( )

  11. I think expertise is a terrible idea. I get the so-called 'reasons.' We don't want the dreaded elitist PvE snobs running about in their high-end raid gear destroying those pure PvP'rs who don't gear grind (snort). This I agree with. I am neither a raider, nor a PvP'r; I am both. As a result, I have neither fantastic Raid gear, nor am I full BM, let along part WH.

However, at present a fresh 50 is at a severe disadvantage. Yes, they can purchase recruit gear and bridge the gap. They are still at a disadvantage when stacked up against all BMs, or WHs. And this divide will only get worse as new levels of Expertise are introduced. It is a problem now. What will it be like in the future?

The system is designed to be a grind. I get this. But, honestly, the argument that it is to 'stop Raiders from dominating' is pathetic. The exact same problem now exists, with the added bonus that good PvP'rs have the superior gear. Not only do fresh 50s have to pit themselves against the skill of the other team, but they have to deal with the other side's superior gear.

In the end, all other things being equal, the team with the better gear is going to win. Why? Cause they do more damage, take less, and heal more. Honestly, I just want my damn gear so I can finally answer the question of, 'Do I suck, or is it cause my entire team is in PvE/Recruit gear, and the 8 guys on the other side are all BM, or better?' Right now, it is tough to answer. I do know that the best PvP I have had in Swtor are the few games where we were all of equal gear level. Funny that.

Expertises' sole purpose is to differentiate PvE from PvP like you said.

The problem you refer to is something made up by BW. They want gear grind (at least thats what they are showing) thus stats increase on gear that takes a longer time to get. The difference between recruit and WH gear is also huge (if not larger?) in stats and some people might be led to believe that the reason they get ganked is only cause they have a higher expertise.

    Hope this clarifies.

  12. If it didn't require BM gear, nobody would buy the BM gear (just save for WH) and at that point they may as well just remove it.

We'd basically have Recruit, WH, and whatever-you-had-before-the-patch. Not really a lot in terms of gear progression.

    reading comprehension.

    OP.

Afaik you need to trade in the healing version of BM gloves to get WH healing gloves ie. Im not 100% sure of this, but I've heard people say that is the case. If so, then yes that is quite bad.

  13. Everyone is complaining about how DPS is up and healing is down, and everyone dies way too fast now! Well people need to try a little strategy.

The way it was before, you have a tank guard a healer and stay near him, maybe looking to protect him by peeling the attackers every once in a while. The healer was always able to keep himself up, and the dps never had to worry about it.... this strategy doesn't work any more.

One of the top PvP guilds on my server has a sorc healer that everyone knows and nobody likes. When he's in the warzone, most people know to focus on him. He's still very difficult to kill since anyone who attacks him usually dies very quickly because his entire premade stop when they're doing, and attack the attackers! They still win warzones, and he still heals quite well despite 1.2 changes.

If everyone learns how to play in a group, you should be fine. If you're pugging, consider marking your own healer so your teammates know who to protect. If u don't have a healer, you can always just hope the other team sucks... otherwise re-roll healer or find one, don't complain.

Healers are still pretty strong defending themselves, assuming they are in equal gear ofc. They can however not heal themselves and others simultaneously. The true problem presents it self when they are unable to heal someone getting nuked down by 2-3 players, due to the low TTK.

  14. Then you can get the exact same performance from your standard PvP gear as almost everyone else.

If you want to move the mods to a piece of custom gear with an Augment slot then you should have to pay for the performance increase.

We need MORE credit sinks in this game, not less.

Why? genuinely curious - no sarcasm

  15. Low ttk != skill required

Sorry this is far from the truth. Long fights reduce the importance of strategy and tactics. In long fights, reinforcements are always a possibility, mistakes are less costly, and reaction time is not as important.

In longer fights your CC actually matters, and if you cant kill stuff, its quite likely because you dont use the CC that's at your disposal (generally) You lads are crying because people arn't dropping 5 sec after you engage in combat. You want FPS style combat and thats not what MMO is about.

How is nuke based PvP about skill?

  16. Expertise is good as it separates PvP from PvE.

Everyone claiming its bad is most likely biased by having lesser gear than the highest tier or simply clueless.

Unfortunatly it also seperates fresh 50 from vets. This is the main problem

Equal gear should be given at warmasters. This is the solution.

Make up other rewards for those who PvP a lot. Suggestions could be: vanity in many varieties, and create actual fun and engaging Wz's or open world pvp. Take a look at GW2 development and steal ideas, that pvp seems to be fun.

  17. Sadly this is a carebare game and people will tell go play GW2 if you want to PvP "will do". Somehow people like being treated as zombies and they seems to love the MMO grinding system. Too bad TERA has the same crappy system so the last hope is GW2.

And those who care about pvp will eventually move on to GW2. Skill based pvp and a heck of a lot more meaningful.

I believe both games will co-exist, good for the gaming industry, forces dev's to care about their customers regardless of where they are coming from.
