  1. Hey folks,

In order to turn on our Epic Story XP Boost, we are running a script which will activate it for all subscribers. In total the script will take approximately 90 minutes to hit all subscribers. Once the script has hit you, you will need to log out and log back in for it to be active. I will post in this thread once the script has been completed.

All subscribers should have the Epic Story XP Boost by 10AM PDT.

Thank you for your patience. I will continue giving updates as I have them.

  2. So I'm level 30, questing in Dune Sea area. I roll up to outpost Therzon to pick up the quests in the area.

It is literally FULL of Imperial Red Level 50 players, slaughtering every guard NPC.

I was not flagged when I entered. But somehow I BECAME flagged when they clicked on me. They proceeded to spawn kill me and every other inhabitant of the SAFE TOWN for the next 10 or so minutes, before I became angry and disconnected. My guild tells me they are STILL THERE killing.

This is on the PVE RP server Ebon Hawk.

This is crap, that is all.

  3. You don't get more commendations than previously. You max out at about 100 for winning (which is what you got last build) and you get like 40 for losing if you get all your medals (which is well below last build).

NVM, I read the second post again.

So, do you get WZ comms now for turning in your daily and weekly, instead of a bag?

  4. Well for one thing, I dont think its going to be a trend and keep doubling every update.. I think they just increased it because we will now be getting warzone commendations straight from daily and weekly quests as well as more commendations from getting more medals in warzones.

Also, those pvp weapons are pretty much just for that, pvp. And yes even before the update i thought they were useless to start with because you already can get better weapons from crafting/questing. I would only buy them if your planning to pvp hard with an under 50, otherwise save your commendations for 50 gear.

    Sound advice, thank you.

Also thank you for not attempting to start a fire in here. I guess the only reason I really bought them in the first place was easy access to new orange custom stuff that I hadn't seen before.

  5. So I get on my level 40 smuggler, and go to the fleet to the PVP Weapons vendor... and I noticed that pre-50 PVP weapons have been taken to 900ish Warzone Commendations, up from 500. This was not even MENTIONED in the patch notes.

If you follow these trends from launch, this leads one to believe that in 1.3, pre-50 PVP gear will again nearly double, costing almost 2k warzone comms.

Add in the fact that you can receive similar or better modifications from simply turning in quests as you level, the PVP Weapons vendor, if not the entire set of pre-50 PVP gear, is now pretty much useless.

  6. I'll add my own answer to this question: Initially yes, after the nerf to PvP rewards early in the game, no- i was forced to run dailies.

Thanks for the reply, I was just curious.

I've always had a hard time making credits in warzones, even back at launch. I guess the problem is that *I* really suck at warzones. I still do them compulsively because I think they are fun, but my scores are generally like 10 kills to 30+ deaths. Those sort of scores don't get you much money.

I'd always do space, and then illum or belsavis dailies if I felt like it, to make money.

Space alone is 100K, Illum and Belsavis are about 200k between them. Add in Coreilla's new Black Hole daily, and your looking at 300k+ a day. I don't think there has ever been a point in the history of this game, even back in beta, when you could make that kind of money in a day from JUST PVP; no matter HOW well you did. I can see how this would be frustrating to somebody who wanted to do 100% PVP all the time.

To put this all in a nutshell from my point of view:

I do PVP to have fun most of the time, even though I totally suck at it.

I do dailies and space to get money, and it feels like WORK. This is why I only have 2.5 million, instead of like 10+ million. If dailies were more fun, or you could make more money in PVP, I'd have easily double money.

  7. Here are my (personal) monetary costs as a player that primarily pvps at 50 (though I do raid HMs)

    A) Respecs

    B) Item Modding

    C) Legacy

    D) Crew Skills (To a lesser extent)

While I admit, the relative credit sink compared to a PvE player is significantly lower, I simply do not have the capacity to customize and modify my gear to the extent they do which effectively makes the optimization of stat distribution on my gear impossible. Not only that, but I gain legacy at a lower rate AND have a lesser capacity to keep up with legacy levels that my peers gain.

Not only that, but I am effectively pigeonholed into dailies and working the GTN if I want to make credits to cover future repair costs and modding. I don't WANT to do dailies nor do I want to spend my time working the GTN. PvPing was an adequete and enjoyable investment of my time (and believe me it was) and I'd much rather play them than be forced to run dailies every day.

But alas, as a player that raids too, I have no choice.

This post makes a lot of sense. Especially coming from the "item modding" standpoint. I'll never understand why I have to pay 30k+ credits to take mods out of an item I ALREADY EARNED!

But, my question to you sir: Pre-1.2, did you make enough credits in general in PVP to offset those costs?

  8. uhhhgg...

Credits from WZ were always crap for me anyway, because on my server the Republic loses EVERY MATCH EVER.

Honestly the best way to make credits in this game at level 50 is to do Illum and Belsavis Dailies, and now the Coreilla Black Hole daily, and then your space dailies.

All told that should net you 300k+ credits per day.

  9. About the whole "This BM gear looks like a deformed frog" thing.

You can now take the mods out of Recruit, BM, or WH armor, and throw them into any orange custom armor piece you want and get the same stats.

  10. Let level 400 artifice make lightsaber hilts that actually effect the look of the weapon. Perhaps even have mods and enhancements have a physical appearance as well.

Another idea is to keep that state of the art sound production team working on new lightsaber ignition sounds. Something like certain combos of hilt and color crystal make different ignition sounds.

And the last idea I got, is to enable legacy XP to level your weapon's DPS, sort of like the legendary weapons in LOTRO.

  11. I'd say they way they'd have to do it now, is multiple group members on two to four, maybe even eight rails, but close enough to seem a squadron. Plus TONS of fighters on top of your regular objectives. Hopefully a new map or two.

I could also see them adding gun turrets that people you invite to your ship can access, that's pretty solid in lore. But it's less practical to program than the idea above.

  12. Everyone - we apologize for the inconvenience. We do everything we can to avoid taking the servers down for maintenance outside of our regular weekly maintenance, but in some cases (like this one, unfortunately) we can't avoid it. This patch is necesary to ensure a good experience for all players during our Weekend Pass Trial weekend. We never take interrupting your playtime lightly, and this is no exception. Emergencies do happen occasionally, and we are working as quickly as we can to bring the servers back up so you can continue enjoying the game. In the meantime, we'll keep you updated with any new information that becomes available. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work to ensure everything goes smoothly this weekend.
