I was discussing this issue with some friends today, no matter how much work goes into nearly all the crafting professions (with exception to biochem) nothing we are able to craft will be able to compete with high end PVP gear. This presents a problem because some of the best items we can craft have practically no buyers. One solution we thought of was actually pretty simple. Allow a crit chance on slicing's augmentation crafting that would add an expertise bonus to the augment. This way, Mastercrafted gear could be combined with crit crafted augments to make gear that's competeable with PVP gear. Currently no items can be crafted with expertise and PVP gear doesn't have augment slots so the bonus could not be stacked. This small addition would allow every profession to sell gear with the potential to be equal or better to PVP gear. Anyways that's just one idea, any thoughts?
