  1. turning sprint off for the jumps helps immensely
  2. maybe that but not not nothing for the love of eli, at least a confirmation popup, not nothing
  3. I'm a sorc solution as far as I can tell -> (1) roll an assassin (2) do all quests and dailies to whatever level past 14 you feel like. (sprint) I think for myself, that would be perhaps level 20-25. I think I'd finish balmora. (4) get your frozen shockwater. (4) hang out at the fleet and do dailies. warzone, space combat, flashpoint. do extra warzones while waiting for flashpoint groups. if you are the tiny-est bit patient and don't expect 10 levels in a day you will find that the leveling speed is quite fast. (5) when you are overlevel whip through your class quest in record time skipping the other stuff. (6) enjoy life.
  4. good idea, I posted this but it was buried in a list, just thought I'd 2nd this
  5. agree but 1h seems too much at start. _especially_ with so many bugs and d/c in the game still. just make it 10 minutes and that will curb it enough. if it's still a problem later when more bugs are ironed out, raise it.
  6. it appears there is a suggestion box, it would be nice if it was a top level forum, not nested in with general discussion. missed this.
  7. disagree, I've seen this in other games. seems like it might be thrilling but it's not. played one game where people dropped named dog-tags thing is, they dropped them without respect to whether or not it was a zerg, single kill, killed them while they were afk, or maybe a 1/4 health from a mob etc it was kinda lame
  8. you guys should have a suggestions area of the forum, it would provide an outlet for the creative minds (or a nice pressure valve for the frustrated minds) of players. some of the suggestions might really be good. here are some random reflections. I'd like to be able to disable companion head slot. it would be nice if we could equip both armor and additionally social clothing, and then have a global toggle determining which one has the higher precedence. For display purposes. Anarchy Online, a very old game, did an excellent job with this. No they didn't have it at the start, it was added when the game was mature. It's very much liked by the players. It would be nice to have some simple bug fixes prioritized. I know, game breakers first, but sometimes the small and simple bugs can be quite frustrating for players, and spending a little time fixing them would make people happy. I really like the hard split between advanced classes. eg: sorc is completely different from assassin. Similarly, I'm liking the fact that talents seem to be relatively weak compared to other games. In wow, as a shaman healer in pvp or pve, it would be effectively laughable for me to attempt dps. But it feels very different here. I can heal well with all the healing talents but I'm don't feel completely and totally gimp when trying to kill something (pve or pvp). All I can figure is that the talents, so far, while they offer key abilities that is paired with modest improvements. Not game changing improvements. I like it. Add more warzones. They are highly enjoyable. Some sort of incentive system would be nice to offset republic / empire server imbalances. XP gain? ... damage bonus? ... defensive bonus? ... valor bonus? small multiple bonuses? I have no idea, other than credits bonus would be worthless. Server merges are good. You of course need a ton of servers at start to satisfy the "content locusts". But it's only logical to see that merges would be good afterward. The issue is how to manage that public message. "Oh no, SWTOR is dying, servers are merging!" Of course not. So take control of the message, announce the fact that they were part of the plan all along. If I were managing PR for a new game, I'd let it be known that server merges were planned even before the game was released. I REALLY like the fact that you can't select what warzone you have to que for. It keeps the pvp population undivided and healthy. wz, civil war and voidstar, would be nice if those weren't restricted to only empire vs republic. I should be able to disable cutscenes in warzones, they serve no purpose after seeing them once or twice. enjoy the game so far, it has a nice lightweight feel to it.
  9. the travel time is lame hey guys, lets go to "X" walk to zone-line because you can't mount here zone-line wait for load walk again through another pointless mini-zone because you can't mount here either zone-line wait for load walk to ship controls and navigate go to planet zone-line wait for load FOREVER go though another pointless empty mini-zone loading still can't mount because I'm in some building walk to taxi etc etc etc WANT TO BUY SOME WHOMPAS, please (teleporters)
  10. thanks for the reads. yeah, nothing on the launcher when I came in. forum info doesn't really help ingame. you know, I'm surprised in all the games I've played I've never really seen a good communication system for ingame handling of system wide notices. about all I've ever seen is a chat message that can scroll by extremely quickly, sometimes you see them, sometimes not.
  11. It's a big topic, how fast should leveling be? It's too fast here. I don't really mean to be a complete shill for another website, but this is a good article on the subject. http://www.mmorpg.com/showFeature.cfm/loadFeature/6045/page/1 I remember playing AO a while ago, 200 level. 200! really. Let me tell you, hitting 200 really "meant something" too. And the amount of xp needed for those levels was serious. The amount of xp needed to go from level 1-180 was the same as the amount needed to go from 180-200. It was quite a tough curve. (in expansions it's since gone to 220, and added AI levels, and Xan levels, etc etc etc) Admittedly ---- AO just like WoW, has had to modify their leveling speed. It's still slow in AO but today it is extremely fast compared to what it was. They did this, as far as I know, basically because the game was old. The leveling content was stale and something had to be done about that. Now I'm certainly not saying that experience should be replicated. AO is a unique beast. TOR should be it's on thing. But I am saying LEVELING IS TOO FAST here. From doing all the quests in one zone I'm already overlevel for the next zone.
  12. was with a group, we were in the middle of something so 15min warning did little to help us, other than give us a moment to chat about it. we were bummed but it happens in a new game. I was shocked it was on friday night though ... my comment to the others was "well, I guess it must be pretty serious, some credits or items hack or something like that". So we logged and I looked for info. I was kind of blown away that there was no info about it. Usually it's limited info, which I expected. Some kind of loosely worded very short post saying that it was important, necessary, and unexpected for them as well. That would have done it right there. But zero info? zero? While not unheard of in the mmo world, it's more often a thing of the past. Modern customer service behaves better. So- (1) 15 minute warning doesn't do much for people ingame. Someone told me it was on the forums - really doesn't help people ingame. We are supposed to be surfing the forums as we are playing? nonsense. an hour would be nice, with periodic messages. But even so, if it absolutely has to come down quick 15min is ok _if_ modest info is given. (2) Zero info isn't a good policy. Little info is fine, people running mmo games have to work against all forms of hackers and it's a bit like playing poker. You don't have to show your hand, but say something, not nothing. It's very simple - just convey that it's important, necessary, and unexpected. People are understanding and if they say they are not and they rage, well quite frankly you don't want them as customers. They would probably quit the game over something regardless. (3) Disabling the forums during downtime is ... odd. Not heartbreaking, but given the above points it looks odd. Never seen that before.
