  1. This is my last post. This person is correct, and the first two people to quote him acted like the earlier robots and flamed him WITHOUT READING the message. That's why it bugs me I'm goaded into another post against folks who aren't reading. They HAD my credit info, same as any other MMORPG. Its a good anti-gold spammer tactic. But they FORCED me to make a payment choice and blocked my free 30 days until I did so, which NO MMORPG previously has done. I've played several major ones from day 1. But, you likely tuned me out and won't bother to make an intelligent argument with facts. Good night.
  2. I'm a writer as well as an RPG enthusaist. I play many different characters, and different sexes, and sometimes these characters develop enough that they become characters in my books. I invest a lot of personality into every character, and watch as events in their games help transform their own story. And no, I'm not famous, but thanks for thinking you might be listening to a celebrity. Most gamers have become accustomed to the fact that even if you see a female avatar, that's likely a male on the other side of the keyboard. What's funny was back when I played Sims Online, and so many women outnumbered men that several wondered if I was a real man or played one to get attention/gifts from the other females that dominated the game. It felt wierd to be on the other side on that one. Too bad I was already married by that time, they missed their chance.
  3. I can't comment on Republic versus Imperial, but currently, it will give you a "doesn't exist error" unless that friend is currently logged on with that character. It likely will not work cross faction, but for everything else your friend has to be online to be recognized. I'm told it was to cut on gold spammers, but I really don't know why things changed.
  4. For me, its only that I wasn't allowed to play my free time at all until I answered their question. I have 30 days to set up a payment plan, but I can't play from day 2 unless I pick one. They already had my credit info, what else did they need? Really, its not too big a deal for me. I like the game, I'll play the game. To me it feels rude that they block my free time for some answer they don't really need until 30 days out. They shouldn't have to worry, I'm not the kind of person to reach max level in 30 days, much less even half a year for many MMORPGs.
  5. How do I set the right time on the forums? I've looked under my account and it seems every clickable link, and I can't get the forums to display the correct local times on posts. If this ends up being the biggest concern I ever have in the world, it's a good life.
  6. Not true. Sure, they may not charge me til 30 days are out, but they wouldn't let me play until I picked a payment plan. They had my credit info already. I was still not allowed to play my 30 day free time until I set up a payment plan for after the 30 days.
  7. I'm at work. Don't tell my boss. This would be worse if my boss actually trolls the boards, but good thing she doesn't have anything to do with MMORPGs.
  8. I'm going to play SW:TOR, because I enjoy it, but with that in mind... I'm tired of people falsely stating that MMORPGs like WoW, Rift, or old EQ, forced you to buy a subscription before being allowed to play your free 30 days. Sure, they DID ask you to provide credit info, but NONE of them actually forced you to buy game time and forbid you from playing your first 30 day period if you didn't. The 14-days for free many are offering now are a different beast entirely, and has only added to their count of gold-spammers.
  9. What SW:TOR did is NOT standard billing practice for MMORPGs, and I have played many of them. Yes, I expect the first month free... Yes, I expect they need my credit info to make sure a kid isn't playing a game...they were given that... But NO MMORPG I have ever played has disallowed you from playing the free month until you signed up for a billing plan beyond that. They should specify, "buying the game gives you one free month in addition to extra bought time". So we just cancel before our month is up and we're charged? That isn't standard practice of the games I've played. But, I guess if I'm a victim I'm not complaining enough. After all, I've liked the game and the release and will be forking over that money. I plan to play and don't plan to play so hard I hit max level in 30 days. Just sayin', it isn't standard practice of most MMORPGs today.
  10. I'm not QQing, in fact I've only had to wait in a queue once, and it was less than ten minutes. The story is what happened in Oregon, and trying to put a funny spin on it.
  11. I don't really know that this has anything to do with SW:TOR, but the timing is funny... A man in Portland Oregon assaulted shoppers with a light saber... http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504083_162-57344338-504083/man-swings-light-saber-assaults-toy-store-customers-ore-police-say/ Take special note of this part... Quote "One officer tried to use a Taser, but it proved ineffective. A second officer tried to stun the assailant with his Taser but Canterbury broke one of the wires on the device with the light saber." That is because... Lightsaber > Taser
  12. I log in at some unusual play times. This is the first time I've encountered a Queue. So, checking the forums and some other websites while I wait.
  13. A lot of MMORPGs try to accomplish this. Offer folks more than they need for questing/leveling...later on folks can skip some quests or try new ones. For me, I like to push a little bit of extra XP in just in case the next area proves harder than expected. I suppose this also helps if you find a "never want to do that again" quest.
  14. Autofollow in EQ worked great. I recall folks leading friends up the long ramp in East Karana, then cut the corner to tight and their friend's corpse was a thousand feet downhill. Ack! oops, went off on a tangent there, sorry. Hopefully they will fix it. Easiest way to communicate with a partner while running is to follow and type.
  15. Some other post was just asking for an option to hide companion helm. I would like this as an option, but can understand if Bioware has bigger problems to tackle first.
