  1. Once again, thank you Bran for another rewording of your same idea. It would seem that your satisfied attitude for things you pay for can continue just the way you like it. I would ask again to contribute positively to the thread. Just because you are narrow minded, doesn't mean the rest of the community is. There is no improvement without discussion and innovation. Don't be afraid of it. If you are , then this isn't the thread for you.
  2. As always Bran, thank you for your insight into the decision making process. I would still encourage you to either contribute to the purpose of the thread or find another. With a post like that, I believe you have now beat me on being overly dramatic. Nice job.
  3. Well I'm not sure if you're more mad at me or the other posters but thanks for the input. You bring up a great point about WoW. You're observations on Sentinels/Marauders are also shared by me to a degree. But I've had a certain level of success with them, admittedly there are much more fun classes to play in pvp. I brought up the class balancing issues to get conversation going and I'm glad it's done that. I have seen class balancing gone wrong in other games where it just didn't matter what you played...just roll your face over the keyboard and things will happen and often you'll win. Where the concept of the class is lost because it was originally designed for it and did it too well. It can be very frustrating. Feel free to keep sharing on this. Lets see if we can get some solutions going too.
  4. LOL. I'm not sure the title is so inappropriate if we keep getting so many negative comments in general, but I once again apologize for that if it is misleading. It does sadden me that we as a community don't think that we can have a voice for change if we choose. Frankly any time we invest in a MMO is really an investment without any practical return other than our own satisfaction. Are we as a community really "satisfied" with what we have? It's your call
  5. Once again I thank you both for your contributions and if that is your personal feeling on the game, that is your right. That's the purpose of the forums as a whole. This thread however is in the "Suggestion Box" area of the general discussion. I encourage feedback on game improvements or reasons behind the difficulties we've had as players of late in hopes that this information could possibly reach the developers and be taken into account. But if you guys are really going to harp on the title of the thread...then it's title caught your eye and served its purpose. I would merely ask that you contribute to the subject matter at hand rather then your current focus. We've found out some good things so far. Some go with what I said, some have not. But lets at least try to address ways to improve this game instead of bashing players in this childish manner. Remember feel free to disagree with me as you wish but please suggest solutions too. Lets keep the ideas flowing. Whether you liked mine or not, we have to start somewhere. New Things We've Discovered: • Not all servers are suffering from the population leaving issues (PVE Mostly) • Unconfirmed but possible issues with EA and reinvestments into this game This is all good stuff. Keep it going
  6. Once again thank you for your input and the information on EA's view of this game. While I have played many more MMO's than this or WoW, my intention was not to compare experience just give a baseline for context. While I do not share your views I'm glad you bring up another concern for the game. Please continue everyone!
  7. Thanks for the support and feedback too. I had heard that EA had canceled another game just to divert funding to this one so lets hope we can get things going. And yeah the 60 pvp is tough, just bear with it. I doubt you stink. Sorry for the "Dramatic Title" just trying to grab a little attention so we can help ourselves. Lets keep it going guys and gals!
  8. Thank you for the good information on that. Keep it coming!
  9. I'm actually quite the active player Mr. Branmakmuffin, and I Do plan to keep playing the game because I enjoy it. But if you can't see the lower server populations and the validity of improvements (soap opera I'm guessing) Then this isn't the thread for you. I do however invite you to suggest how to help this game thrive? Or would you rather continue bashing the thread? it's no wonder why people don't take threads like this seriously with attitudes like that. So whatever makes YOU feel better.
  10. Lets try to keep the suggestions on the positive end and not the Troll side. So what if I tested this game and you didn't? The point is I love the game. Read the whole thing before you pass judgment.
  11. Hi Everyone, First off let me say that I really love SWTOR as a whole. I was a Beta tester for it and have stuck by it for the most part, thru it's entire life. I'm not starting this thread to troll or bad mouth it in any way. I am however, as a veteran of many other MMO's, seeing a time very soon where EA and Bioware are going to have to make tough decisions. There are whispers and rumors about server merges and populations dying and, as a player this concerns me as I'm sure it does others. I think we are at a tipping point in this game where it will either cement itself for the long haul like WoW, or it will die a slow and painful death for it's fans and developers. I want us to have a voice in this and perhaps help the developers of this game see options that they may have not thought of. I encourage both developers and players to contribute their thoughts but lets try to keep an open mind on this. Here are my observations. Issue #1: GAME MATURITY - This game has now been running for over 4 years which is a decent run for other MMO's, but hey this is STARWARS! That's not nearly good enough. It's time to start planning for the future. The engine on this game needs some reworking. Linking the PVP and PVE cues and have them run for the entire game and not the server, would DRAMATICALLY reduce wait times and encourage both flashpoint and Warzone participation. The "rumored" solution of merging PVP servers is a Bad idea which I will discuss in a minute. This is also the time to be addressing the lag issues, hacks and other performance/exploit issues that have plagued this game since the beginning. Perhaps expanding or fixing the maps on certain planets. Hell if you wanted to encourage travel and open world activity, program some random events beyond the scheduled events that come up as notices on the screen so participation can be encouraged and perhaps achievements earned. All this would freshen up infrastructure. And don't tell me EA and Disney can't afford it. Issue #2: THE GOAL OF THE GAME - As its predecessor games released by Bioware, this game has tailored itself to immersing the player into the experience of the game and getting them emotionally involved in the reactions of that character. This has led to fairly good story pre 50. The story past 50 however has been sadly disappointing. The stories merely change by faction and the "Revan" expansion gave you 2 new missions that were tailored to your specific class story, and that was considered to be enough for a game that has prided itself on the experience of it. When sadly 95% of it is the same post 50 give or take a few lines of dialogue. This game has not delivered on what it's promised and what made it stand out initially. The way the story is now post 50, you might as well be hitting your head against the wall because the end is the same either way, and no new information on your character is REALLY given. By this point you lose your emotional attachment to the character and the game becomes like any other MMO that is out right now. If we are going to pay for expansions then do them right guys? Good overall content is ok but not what you are known for. Get back to telling MY (the player's) story. And on a side note: the server merge idea will probably kill the names that the players like and force them to make new ones. This detracts from the experience as well. Issue #3: LEARN FROM YOUR ELDERS - MMO games have been around for some time, WoW being the biggest kid on the block. They have had the most examples successes and greatest mistakes, just by sheer time of the game being online. I played that game since it's Vanilla days all the way to it's panda phase. And admittedly, it does suck at the moment, but it has done some very innovative things that this game should have thought about from the get go. First as with any faction based game, it's going to get unbalanced. That's just the way it is. That's why the pvp cues were cross servers in battle groups. Good idea! PVP cues could also be adjusted so you could skip some Battlegrounds that you didn't want to play. Good idea! Swapping specs and gear with the touch of one button. Good idea! Adjusting your look by "transmogifying" your gear to look like the old stuff or a look that you liked. Good idea...and has been recently implemented in this game. Bringing back ALL and I do mean all gear sets (pvp and pve) to be made into the look that you want, or at least make them drop off a level equivalent flashpoint. The reskinned Cartel market items are fun and all, but we all know it's a blatant attempt to make as much money as possible with no real effort. WoW did this one too. Wow also wasn't afraid to change the entire landscape of the game regardless of the money and time it cost. Granted that last one was the beginning of the end for my interest, but it showed willingness to go outside the box. I'm sure some other MMO's had some good features too that predate SWTOR and were never learned from. It's time to address the "elephants in the room" and truly make this game, the game it NEEDS to be to stop losing people. WoW had a very small fan base in comparison to SW but they are still milking that game. What is the excuse here? why are we losing players? Issue #4 CLASS BALANCING - Now I know I'm going to get some hate on this one but, here are the facts. FACT: Any class with the proper spec and gear can beat any other class. The issue is not powers but skill. FACT: Players need to learn how to play in both pvp and pve environments. Understand their character and optimal rotation is a matter of research and playing the actual game. Most people who disagree with this statement generally are the "fly by night" players that want everything handed to them, but not put in the time to get it. Most of these are going to be the free to play or preferred players anyway, so they are not really supporting the game as much as the regular population. Yet somehow their voice seems to drown out the voice of the core players who just want things to be left alone and not sit there and dread the next set of patch notes. WoW is VERY guilty of this one, Thankfully, Bioware hasn't been as big of an offender, but they need to realize one other basic fact about people. "When you keep changing things that people like, they stop liking it and move on". I know some tweaks will be unavoidable but we need to accept (both players and developers) that too many chef's ruin the meal, and continued UNNESESASARY class changes will degrade the game as a whole. We as players also need to "Grow Up" and realize that there are spec changes and character slots there for a reason. So we can experience or be more successful in our game play as we choose. I encourage comments on this and feedback once again from both Bioware and Players on this one. I want to keep this game alive and kicking and we have to do this together. Thanks -Kar
