  1. Now that I've played all 16 classes, have my 50's and my pvp gear, have done the missions and Valor'd myself till I was blue in the face... here is my beginning sum up for PvP.

    PvP Issues: (where to begin)

Ilum is fail. Not thought out, not thought through, and if it’s going to take some time to address it, then shut it down till then. Obviously this has a lot to do with opinion; however 10-40 players running around in a circle to fight over a tiny spawn point of Armaments… now you’re just jerking the players around.

Why the Ilum zone isnt a massive Que Warzone… beats me. Open world pvp? No. The servers do not have enough population to warrant a zone that size, and even now there are multiple instances of the zone… if you want people to PvP there, one zone folks, just one, no multiple instances. Whom ever thought that through should be kicked in the nuts.

Suggestions on Illum, like I said, learn from WoW and Wintergrasp… make it a que only zone, once every so many hours, 100vs100 (or more), and… make attacking the objectives rewarding. An increase in Valor to hope it doesn’t bug out on you when you join your next WZ match… again, whom every thought that up needs to be punched in the junk. If you blow something up, you get a badge or an armament, whatever, but something.

This brings me to why people even bother with Illum in the first place… PvP gear. Holy cow, the PvP gear situation… so fail. Anytime I can backpedal and kill anyone not geared to the same level at me, by only hitting one key… why even bother? PvP should be about the player, not the player’s gear. This is the largest cause for PvP failure in every MMO. I shouldn’t be able to kill people by head-butting my keyboard… but I can when I out gear them. Why is there even a PvP stat to begin with? Who thought a PvP stat was needed? If you want to have a PvP stat on equipment, you need to do it right. The PvP stat needs to be part of the set bonus, and never change when you upgrade to the higher tier gear. Four pieces gives you so much Expertise, that’s it. You upgrade your gear to have your other stats increased, not Expertise, that should be static and never change.

Currently, in order to compete, players are forced to grind out WZ’s and grind out Illum. So that some Joe like me can’t just back-pedal and hit one key and kill everything in sight. And this is the same fail that happens in so many games… forcing players to put up with horrible ideas in order to be able to compete in the areas they do enjoy.

And what is the deal with Tatooine!? That place is an awesome Blood Gultch style setting for some great CTF or anything really... yet it is barren because people have to travel there, in ones or twos, to look for Merc chests, and leave... yeah, that's a lot of fun. Turn that into a Que-able War Zone. That place would be a ton of fun, the layout is amazing, but currently totally useless because it's on a left over planet and warrants no real reason to ever be there in force for anything to make use of the entire zone for PvP. Total fail on BioWare's behalf.

    Warzone:

Why on earth does a Stale Mate end in a random draw for a winner? On the score board it is pretty clear which team had the most badges, least deaths, most kills… how does that turn into a coin flip for a winner? In Hutt-Ball if no one scores and no one has the ball when the time runs out, it coin flips for a winner… In Void Star if neither team is able to place a bomb on the first set of doors, it coin flips for a winner… that doesn’t even make sense on any level.

Ok, who thought it was a good idea not to include a re-spawn timer on the door...? There's some kind of rotating thingie... why can't this be a timer that we can all read? Seriously, was that like a joke or a prank a developer played... "HAHA, we'll make a timer in Predator code so know one knows what it really means..." Come on guys, turn that silly dial into a count down timer so players know when they are about to spawn.

What is up with the consistent Score Board glitch? Not showing all the players, having zero stats and badges for everyone in the game??? Including the glitch that allows me to still kill people after the game has ended. These all seem like things that would have been addressed LONG ago, because these are not opinions, these are actual bugs of the game.

    Class Balance:

Ironically I have no issues on class balancing. I have a couple 50’s and I’ve played all 16 classes, it seems well balanced. Those that cry about it, I’ve noticed do not know how to properly play their class, OR, get destroyed by people in PvP gear (like me) and don’t understand that imbalance of PvP gear in this game yet. I do not agree with all classes having a Knock Back or a Gap Closer, but one. The Operative/Scoundrel has no knock back, or gap closer, while all 14 other classes have one or both. Yes they get vanish, but so do the Force Stealthers but they get a knock back. That seems off to me, but whatever, so far the Operative/Scoundrel is my Favorite class.

    Targeting:

    FAIL

Targeting in this game is by far the sloppiest I have encountered in any MMO, and I’ve played the majority of them, having started WAY back with UO. This is a basic game mechanic, I can’t tell you how to fix it, all I can tell you is it is horrible as it stands. Take pointers from WoW, it’s been out long enough to figure some stuff out. WoW has an option to view health bars above the enemy, you can easily click on those bars to target players.

No Target of Target frame!? That doesn’t even make sense, kick someone in the junk for not thinking that through.

    Attack Delays:

Where to begin on this one. All I can really say is take a page from the MMO that’s been dominating for the past decade. Attacking in WoW is smooth, you click, it happens, smooth, no delay, good to go. In this game… omg… Any class that stacks via attacking, like Heat Signatures, or Tactical Advantages, or Sorc Death, etc… there is a Nasty delay between your attack hitting and applying the whatever before your next attack even goes off. Again, this is a base mechanic and I can’t say how to fix it, but I can say it currently is horrible, not smooth at all, and I should not be able to out click and out think my actions before the game can apply them.

    Global Cool Down:

I’m not sure why someone thought this was a good idea. Combine the GCD with the attack delay issues and you have a horrible foundation. I click to throw a Grenade, my toon does the animation but doesn’t throw for whatever delay was in the system… but still triggers the GCD. So I click Grenade again, the animation looks like it’s going to be thrown… but nope. Still triggers the GCD though. Oh, third time’s a charm and the grenade flies to the target that I’ve been standing right next to this entire time. I’m not talking about the Cool Down for any individual skill, I am addressing when you use the majority of your abilities it triggers all other abilities to cycle the GCD. I can’t say if the GCD is a good idea, or bad idea, or what, because when combined with the Horrible Attacking interface and delay and adds to a problem that is already horrific. On its own merit is might be fine.

    That ends page 1...

I agree with almost all that.

The global cool down simplifies PvP so that it doesnt matter how fast a computer you have, how low your latency is, how fast your fingers move, you can only do 1 action per second. It makes PvP easier, less skillfull perhaps but probably appeals to the casual gamer.

100 vs 100. Love to see it unfortunately their game engine cannot handle it.

I miss Aion's open world pvp before players starting to quit for other reasons.

  2. One of the big issues is that you cannot communicate across the whole faction.

So someone on Tat can't tell people on fleet that there are two level 50s tearing up Tatooine.

Its such a shame, they really made the game feel like a solo instanced experience.

  3. Unlike other MMOs the community is pretty poor because everyone is split across so many planets and there is no way to communicate on a server across factions. Perhaps they did that to reduce trolling and gold spammers, but I kind of miss those personalities that come across.

It also means no open world pvp because no one can shout out 'hey there is a 50 on tatooine' where people on Fleet could hear them.

Its a shame, it doesnt have the feel of a classic MMO without the community and communication.

  4. Daytime PvP is decent, people stick around, battles are hard fought, its fun.

Evening is out of control, deserters are rampant and the number one reason is they dont what to play for quarter of an hour with a couple of level 10-15s. Also for a shortcut to fleet. That and 4 nubs standing in front of the voidstar door let someone walk up and plant a bomb.

So they really have to bracket again, and apply cross server queuing so that premades can be better queued with premades and new level brackets. Maybe 10-20, 21-35 and 36-49.

  5. there is nothing of interest and the next patch is going to remove the last chance of open world pvp.

lets face it the pvp team is clueless and have no idea what pvpers want.

however they are adding another warzone that you will not be able to queue for directly.

  6. If a equally geared dps with any level of skill can't deal with a sorc right now, that's not the sorc's problem, it's you.

Be careful what you wish for, cause it'll eventually come back two fold on you.

I'd say a marauder eats a sorc given two good players.

  7. Post invalidated.

how so. The operative is stealth, acid blade, hidden strike, acid blade, backstab, a few more hits and run away.

    not much to it.

sorc is a lot of roots and ccs at the right time, dots at the right time. not really many more buttons to push.

  8. I started with bounty hunter, then operative, then marauder and now sorc.

BH was easiest to play, marauder hardest.

Sorc is just way more fun, especially in huttball - at level 42 now I can basically swing the match because it has just so much utility.

Its just a much more fun class to play, as easy as the operative I would say.

  9. Lack of talents, before lvl 14 you cant even outrun your own farts, underdeveloped skills, no procs off talents, you catch the drift?

    this

my level 41 sorc would destroy my level 15 sorc

  10. As a sorc I could get highest dps in void star for example but its much more important to run back and forth ensuring dots on anyone on the door.

Mercs typically get highest dps as they stand around and spam fire - but should they?

If a healer does over 100k healing I'll usually give them the vote.

Huttball is ok to give to the highest objective score as its usually the person running the ball or protecting the ball carrier.

I gives 1 commendation which is next to nothing so doesnt really mean a lot.

  11. Now that i have full madness spec on my sorc I'm a beast at huttball because while they walk over the pit thinking they have full resolve - i root them and they die.

My root is on a 9 second cooldown.

    I feel bad doing it.

Still with marauder one on one I get eaten alive. With operatives they would kill me but I stun and run and they cant close the gap.

  12. I agree.

The game is a PvE experience for the most part, PvP is a small part of it.

Open World while leveling is frustrating for a lot of people - not me - it created a lot of unhappy people in Aion - not me.

Open World PvP at 50 is what keeps a large number of players active at level 50 and I hope they will add some - but I'm not overly confident they will.

  13. Balance in this game is possibly the best I have seen.

SI are massively imbalanced in their ability help teams score in Huttball (knockback, pull, and forcespeed), and healing classes (not just healing spec'd players) have a major quality of life advantage of not having to sit for forever to drop combat just so they can heal themselves, but that is really the only glaringly significant issues I see in pvp balance.

There are other issues with pvp, but not detrimental ones.

Sorcs need their healing nerfed a bit if not spec'd to heal.

Gearing is a complete joke, but doesn't really pertain to imbalance.

    Healers get the medal shaft.

Force Speed is too good in Huttball (while carryign the ball, you should not benefit from the full effect of Force Speed).

    this.

except for force speed, passing > running

oh and gearing gives people long term motivation to pvp, if after levelling to 50 everyone had the same gear most would quit because there would be nothing left to strive for.

  14. This is why I fight hard to win matches - the xp is about 75% from what I get from questing the same amount of time - for your run of the mill quests that dont have bonus quests.

Unfortunately the loser xp being so much lower encourages deserters who see a losing team and revert back to their questing.

  15. Not sure about everyone else, but my server has the same few chronic AFK'ers. That's cool, I know there is trash in every game, I am fine with it. But I 100% honestly see them doing it 24/7. I personally have reported the same person 3 times today. What's the deal? I know they get puny valor for doing it, but is there any sanction at all? 100% blatant, they laugh about it, and tell the whole WZ nothing will happen to them. Is this for real?

I doubt BW is ever going to handle afk reports. I'm sure they will create a kick tool once they figure out how to make a fair one.

In the mean time just keep your personal list and tell everyone in the warzone why you are leaving and who the player is.
