  1. Because at a certain point major tech advances come to a leveling off. Where the advances come from is in new alloys, energy consumption, and the like are where advances come in. The are past huge sweeping jumps and more in a slower refining period and gradual gradient up.

A good example in some sense is the internal combustion engine. Its realatively the same as when it was created, yet its been refined and tweaked since its conception for nearly 200 years.

  2. Now having it contained all within the game is a double edge sword. While it makes it convenient one one hand. it also makes it highly inconvenient on the other. Because if someone wants to check to see what might have changed, they have to log into the game to do so, which might or might not be an option at that time. I check a lot of things from my phone. Which of course cant log into the game. So unless I am sitting at my desktop and in game I wouldnt know there was a change.

Now do I think a slightly more fleshing out of the current system needs to be done. Of course. It needs depth indeed.

  3. I have always lost a day in any mmo I have played due to maintenance. Even living in the US. Mostly due to my jobs and locations and a lot of the people I play with do as well. As servers currently go down at midnight for me, which is about 45 mins after I get home. But I do think the EU should get a separate time for their maintenance.
  4. Aion does this kind of limiting all the time. And, out of all the things folks complained about with that game, it was not one of them.

Sorry to say that I have friends coming in all the time, and if they or I was unable to roll on the side they were or the opposite class as they are on a starting planet it would be more than just a little frustrating. From these forums and the amount of threads over options it would just add to it. Because people would not have the option of playing with said friends.

  5. How would you suggest they do this? its peoples choice on which side they roll on. If they cap new players from rolling imp or what ever class then that would cause a whole slew of people to become angry. I dont see how fractions can be addressed when its not in the hands of the devs on who rolls what.
  6. Well we can agree on that, and hte current system does not reward challenge or time, in the sense that you receive far to much gear for the challenge involved.

Oh I can agree, but that can be straightened out with system tweaking and difficulty raising in a sense. I was simply stating that the system on principle was a far better idea than simple raiding. Now on execution well that is where it comes down too and that needs some changes.

  7. I dont think you have done hard modes yet. You are arguing this subject with me as if it is theory.

You understand that the commendations that drop in eternity vault drop in every other hard mode right?

You understand that you never really have to do eternity vault unless you want the rakata gear, and even that is only if you arent a crafter, as the recipes for rakata gear drop in hard mode as well.

You understand its not tokens plural, but token. One, you find ONE token and bam you got a new chest piece, new boots, new weapon.

You understand that eternity vault is probably equal to false emperor interms of time it takes to clear right?

So i dont know why you keep bringing up time and fairness, the point of my thread is the fact that all the loot is shared, the loot that drops in hard modes drop in operations. My point is, these instances should have separate and unique loot tables that go along side the tokens. My point is people should have an incentive to do a specific flashpoint or raid beyond hunting the universal commendations and tokens.

And as for commendations, TIonese, columini, tionese crystals. pointless. POINTLESS. The rate you acquire gear tokens is so absurd, that you will have a full set of columni before you have 65 tokens to buy 1 piece. That is just fact right now.

And I stated in my original post, things need tweaking. That they arent were things should be. in difficult of those things and the system as a whole. I understand that gear drop rates are extremely high. And tokens as plural is simply that, a generalization and splitting hairs in truth. As far as say the aesthetics of the armor, there I can consed in a difference but not a stat difference.

Your original post was simply why you think things are wrong that there needs to be a raid grind to get the best. I simply offer how a system based around commendations/tokens can work and allows all who face challenging content be it hardmodes or operations (the difference been time spent in a week/month/year) would have access to same stat gear. Not handing it out like candy. Again I also stated the system needs to be tweaked/fixed or how ever you want to state it.

It should come down to Challenge/time=reward.

  8. Please tell me how adding loot tables along side the tokens penalizes people who dont have the time to devote to constant raiding?

They still get their tokens right, the people who have the time still get their loot right? What i am hearing is, i want to be equal even though i dont want to put in the effort.

Thats like wanting to be a professional basketball player but saying i only want to practice on every other tuesday. But i should get paid as much as lebron james, and as much time on the court, i mean i dont care if he does it every single day for 9 hours a day, i got a life!!

The whole idea is silly, time devoted should be rewarded, and it is really silly to think otherwise.

I do talk about time devoted. Everything would be based on time. Longer OPs = more tokens over shorter Flashpoints. It would equate to time given. If you put in 20 hrs in a week you would have an appropriate level of tokens for that time. Though someone who put in 20 hours in a month would at the end of that time have the same number of tokens. The key part being the 20 hrs a week would therefor have at the end of the same period 80hrs over just the 20hrs. So it is still rewarding those who put in the time. No once did I say it would be the same tokens for those that did 5hrs of flashpoints over those who did 20 hours of Operations in a week.

  9. I think the token system works overall for all, sure it needs to be tweaked as well as difficulty for several end game contents. Hardmode and end game Flahspoints should be build around challenging of 4 man groups, take less time and provide less commendations. This is for those whom dont have the same amount of time available to them to raid. where it would take so many runs through such places and equal so many hours.

Where Operations would be build around challenging an 8 man group, take more time but provide more commendations. So those who have more hours (though equivalent in time spent with the flashpoints) But because they put more time into these in a week they would there for acquire this gear at a faster pace.

This style system would there for allow all whom have put in the time (though over greater time for some than others.) in challenging content.

  10. Some people talk about that gear and raiding is the only reason people stick around after hitting end game. That is silly, many people hit "end game" levels and stick around doing other things, putting in as many hours (though not in the same period of time) as raiders. Those that raid hard core yes would get the items faster than some one who is only able to put in a fraction of the time in a given week. Why should those people not be allowed access to the same stats that the raiders have? simply because they didnt devote hours and hours in a week over that of a month?

The current system can use some tweaks sure. Challenge can come from hardmode flashpoints built around what is challenging for 4 man groups and where time to complete is shorter than an Operation. Then sure the flashpoints should provide fewer commendations over the Operation. Operations challenge should be that for 8 man groups and give more due to longer times to complete.

This is something WoW failed at, it rewarded those who had the time to devote (most of the time several nights in a week and several hours each night/day) over those with less time, but whom were wanting to seek a challenge and have an option at better gear. Most whom wanting a system like this also understood that it would take longer to acquire this gear due to the less time put in at a single day or weekly period.

The token system is an attempt to move towards something like this, and again I have said it probably needs some tweaking but it is far better than simply rewarding those who have more time in a week than those who dont, but are willing to work for the gear in an alternative way.

  11. For the most part my cybertech mods can outpace a planets mods even from the commendation vendors. For just the armor in the last 7 levels of them I have 4 purples and 5 blues. Along with the mods and even a few other objects I can craft are blue and purple. Which keeps me more than up on armor and stats, so much so that quest items arent even reasonably close to the same quality as my orange gear. Sure level 50 pvp and raid stuff might be better, but you invest a lot more time in getting those items than you would crafting an item.
  12. An MMO map design ... How hard is it to imagine?

It is where there are no loading screens between sections and where you can move, or better fly freely from one place to another, dodge and avoid high level areas, get chased by guards or other pvp players, fall off of cliffs, fall into sea, the whole map to give a feeling of seamless continuity. You can have dozens of such maps (aka planets, cities) as long as each map is large enough to be immersive.

Well apparently you havent done Tat. I have fallen off a cliff, been chased by republic guards, avoided high level(heroic) zones, have traveled well off the prescribed roads on the map.

on another note. those that want to fly between planets manually, what of all the complaints of travel to other planets take to long? And for that being broken up from the main hub. Its because both rep. and emp. have a city there and share the bulk of the map with their own smaller bases in the middle.

  13. Just tonight, was running around tat. had three instances going. And I saw at least three dozen people through out the whole map. As for wow, out side of the so called capital cities. I would see maybe a dozen if lucky in zones as I leveled, outside of new zones with the expansions. As for space ports being big, they are space ports, they are suppose to seem big. but its for coming and going. Besides, what is the point in standing around in a city? I have heard its about a community, being a community. But you dont have to stand around in a city to be a community.
  14. People have talked about having to go through the same content again and how difficult it is and ect. AC is a class. Re-specing it shouldnt be an option. Take another game. I rolled first a human mage, found out I did not like it, I couldnt respec it to warlock. Instead you have to re-roll. and if you take human, GASP you replayed the same content. You would replay the same content if you rolled anything that was human. The whole point of AC is that it is your class. Those first 10 levels help you learn the mechanic's and play style for the upcoming class. In many games I had countless alts that were all low level. (played for around five hours) To see if I liked said class and countless times it was through replayed content. It happens when you start new classes.
  15. Actually. No the current LFG tool is not planet only based. If you put in the search box LFG it will show you everyone using it on any planet and in any instance. The problem is people dont use it. Now is it perfect no. Can it do with a few tweaks? Sure. But its there. Its just not used. If it was, then it would not seem as some people say broken.
  16. Dual specs fine, dont care about them at all. Though in the games I have played that have it. I have never really used. But that is me. Now the Re-spec fee, that should accumilate if done repeatedly, to a point and I want to say there was talk on that it does diminish over time. Heck as one person said they supposedly reset after a week. Fine. As for the pvp versus pve bit. I have my build, built around pve, but I am constantly in the top five in pvp in several catagories. This might change higher up I get, but even now in the 20's my pve is highly viable in pvp. (pvp battlgrounds anyway.) Now world pvp I have no clue on how that will play out when I get there.
  17. The lack of an all zone LFG channel is also really difficult to work with. I want to be able to quest in a zone where I have quests and also LFG for a flashpoint/heroic quest that I need done. In some cases I am in another zone while still needing a heroic quest done in yet another zone.

Standing around in fleet spamming LFG while I itch to go and quest is MADDENING! Please do not try to tell me that standing around waiting for a group is good and fun game play. I have limited time to play and wasting it frustrates me to no end.

I went and made a custom channel for my server (hidden beks EU) and tried to get people to use it to LFG no matter where they are, no uptake on it yet.

The current LFG tool only works if you are in that zone, irritating as hell.

A better LFG tool please, pretty please.

If you put int he search terms box LFG it shows LFG seekers (using the tool) from all planets and instances on said planets.

  18. Spamming LFG in chat is precise and delicate? I'd say calling up a list of people who want to do the same dungeon and quickly forming a team is much more precise.

You're going to have to meet strangers at some point one way or another. If you don't like how they treat the team or handle loot or whatever, don't team with them again, or kick them.

The current system on the WHO tab, actually can be used to call up a list of people looking for a group. IF it was actually used. Though to find just LFG people you have to put LFG in the search box for it to show everyone LFG on the server. which planet they are on and instance. Then its simply sending whispers. It would be far more viable if people used it yes. And simpler if you didnt have to put LFG in the search. If they added a button that just showed you LFG people and you just either scroll or put in what quest/heroic/flashpoint or op you wanted/where looking for. No need to spam general at all.

  19. How about no? I won't go through all that **** just because Bioware fails and many other customers wont.

Improve the system or I will take my $$$ somewhere else. It's simple as that.

You still failed to give me 1 reason against simplifying the system.

So you want a system you click probably a window, then a tab and click the boxes for the countless number of heroics and the flashpoints and ops you want and then wait for the system to automaticly put in into a group? so instead of a few key strokes you want a few mouse clicks? the only easier part is you dont have to talk to anyone? (really am curious on that again, nothing more.)

And I have admitted it can be a little easier with a simple button to show just those LFG. But the current system is far from truly difficult to use.

  20. Maybe it's because it's a damn commandstring you enter?

    How about this.

Remove the logout, make people use their brain and type /quit

Oh let's not forget to remove the option to invite players by clicking their portrait.

Can you tell me 1 reason not to have a LFG tool like in other games like "oh noez" WoW? With the exception for the unneeded Cross Server? How does a LFG tool unsocialize the game?

I will say it again: If a shop does not cater to it's customers by e.g putting up the cereals in the highest place then nobody is going to buy them and people will eventually find a better shop.

We are in 2011 people don't want to (and dont have to) use their brains anymore.

You go to the social tab, click the who tab. and you have a box that you can click for LFG and then can click comment. There is also a search box on the WHO tab and you put simply LFG. As I said earlier its not absolutely perfect. It would be easier to have another box added you can click that just shows people in LFG. then you can search for your quest/heroic/flashpoint. You do not have to use a command string at all.

  21. A function as essential as this is told about in the useless spamming of the tutorial that most people will deactivate since it's a wall of text.

You know what a good game makes? To be able to pick up and play it.

This is a well known fact in the industry.

I wouldn't consider them a wall of text, most of them are extremely short. In almost all games there are things you have to read (something) to find out all the features/rules. From WoW to monopoly if its your first time playing.
