  1. If I was going to suggest any upgrade to that laptop, my first suggestion would be either replacement of the Memory with 16GB instead of just 8GB. I personally like to go to http://www.crucial.com and use their System Scanner tool. It will scan your laptop/pc/whatever and show you what you have in the computer and also will show you compatible memory that will work on your computer. Also it shows how many memory slots it has ( needed info if you wanted to upgrade or replace with a faster memory. Just make sure, if you buy faster memory, either match it with the original memory speeds exactly or better yet just replace all the old memory with newer, larger size and faster memory. Most premade computers don't have the fastest memory that the motherboard can take. Infact in order to cut cost, most don't even tell you the speed of the memory because they use a low speed/cheaper memory. Today, if the PC isn't bragging about the selling point of the speed in a item, then its something it wants to hide from you.
  2. Well to be 100% sure, go and see what the min. requirements for the game is. However just by looking at the stats you shown, I would say it should be just fine. Due to it being NVidia, you can use a tool called Nvidia Experience to set the graphics to best fit your hardware. The processor isn't that great on speed however it is a I7 so it will automaticly overclock single thread processes and under clock the other cores so you get better performance in slightly older games and some newer ones. The hard drive space really isn't even needed to be posted because this is not that huge of a game and even if it was a large game like some these days being over 60gb, that's still nothing to most hard drives even if its a small SSD so your good on that. The video card is a low version of the 700 series but at least its 2GB onboard and I'm sure it will either run at full settings or at least pretty close. Wont know 100% sure until you try it out. Lastly the memory being 8GB should be enough. Just try and not having to many un-needed processes running in the background while playing and you might not even have to worry about that even. So basicly, yes I think that laptop should be not only able to run this game but if not at full graphics settings then pretty close. I know the last few expansions they have been getting better with the graphics and pushing the game but I still think you should be fine. If it does need to have some of the graphics turned down due to make better performance then I doubt you will see much change in the way it looks overall.
  3. I wanted to use the pirate outfit you get on Rishi for my newest character. I made a new lvl.60 character and played that for awhile, then I teleported to my Stronghold and then from there to Rishi. I figured the storyline missions would not be available due to the new character's story line is far past that and I was correct. My issues now is that I did a solo flashpoint on Rishi (the flame one) and completed it and I did not get any reward of clothes at all. Just a few credits and a Rishi rep item if I remember right. No part of the outfit at all. I tried doing all the dailies and then turned them in just to find the same issue. I see two ways to fix this, either you have a email sent with the past episodes bonded items that you get through storyline to your new lvl.60 character just like all the other legacy things/items you get mailed to you when making a new toon normally. Other way is to let us go back and do the work over again like I tried to do. It's not even like I can purchase the outfit as far as I know. It would be nice if it was under your "collection" and only needed to be claimed. ok so that's 3 ways you could fix this. Please tell me that I did not waist my lvl.60 item making this newest character... BTW - on a completely diff. topic , I think it would be awesome if the pirate hat on Rishi did not cover the face at all but just the hat or maybe a eye patch as part of the hat.
  4. Well I am the same way, I paid a lot of money so I can have the graphics set the highest on any game that comes out. You are very correct in the fact that this is a Microsoft's DirectX issue with nVidia cards and this happens in a lot of games. Now swtor is one of the games that is the easiest to reproduce this error so you see it complained about a lot more for this game. I for one am pretty busy and would really really not want to go back to a previous OS or even a earlier version of Windows because then when you do have another issue you have the troubleshooting additional issue of wondering if that was a issue that was already fixed in future patches or if its truely something new and not just new to you... Now going crawling back to a great OS like Windows 7 64bit might be the best solution for bugs in general but I think everything is on the back burner except for Windows 10 for Microsoft because they are so desperate to sell and get everyone on 10 they talk down about Windows 7 even and are always taking older tech and then suddenly stopping support for that item. I think I will try the grass thing but I wonder how I will be able to tell when it is finally fixed if I do that. Just check forums daily? More time waisted...
  5. yeah... really getting old with this bs error... I hate that this makes the game virtually unplayable! I wouldnt mind quite as much if i was a free2play guy but I am a Subscriber. It just feels like im paying for ice cream but no ice cream left and they keep the money for the ice cream. lol
  6. The new expansion is awesome except for the lag issues! It is worth you coming back but I wouldnt blaim you for wanting to wait til the lag issues are fixed but I do love the new content!
  7. I have had this odd lag after the newest patch and its been HORRID! I have a very over powered pc for this game and have had no issues with hardware lag ever. All of the games that are graphic-intensive like Metro Redux and others that are in need of a powerhouse of a pc to run at highest settings, have no issues. I love SWTOR and its practically unplayable. You tell it to do a move and 1-3 sec. later it does it, and lets not even talk about PVP! Sometimes I will do a force lightning area attack and the move is almost over before the first enemy is even hit. This happens on any character or planet I go to. Same thing. I think its been the worse the last 3-7 days-ish. At first I thought it was just due to the new graphics needing to be tweeked and such but it happens on all planets. Another odd thing is that the "server lag" was like 30-40ish most of the times. Thats pretty normal and very playable in the past but its acting like its a 500 ping or worse. Again, I play many games and no others have any issues.
