  1. The game is too easy. It's too easy to level in, the flashpoints and ops are too easy (When people have done everything on nightmare mode just 3 months in.. it's too easy to do). Gear is too easy to come by, money is too easy to get. And yet... I do like the game, but... I find myself considering leaving the game for a while. The content is so easy that everyone has gone through it and is desperately looking for more. In my case - two toons at 50. I was prepared for this lull in content - it's a new game. I know more content is coming at some point, but for now... why should I continue to pay when about all I do is sit around somewhere watching chat or dragging myself through dailies? This one factor - a game too easy - needs to be addressed pretty much before anything else. Players will always out-play the speed of developing new content, but it would help matters if there was more challenge to the game. I played Aion so I'm not looking for another reason to /wrists, but exp needs to be cut, monetary rewards need to be cut, gear drops need to be cut, difficulty mode of flashpoints and ops need to be ramped up, and all of those things need to be done before introducing the fluff of a Legacy system. I also think the size of a group needs to be the 'traditional' 6 players. At first I liked the 4 player size. I figured groups would be easier to get, and there wouldn't be as much risk that a valuable piece of gear would be needed by multiple parties in the group. But in playing it for several months, the small group size makes it *harder* to get a group because everyone has at least one or two friends, and a large group of companions to round it out. It makes ppl less inclined to group with someone they don't know. Because there isn't a lot of variety in the group - most of that great gear that drops is useless to the ppl doing the content, and it can't be sold. I don't know.. I like the game. I was fully prepared to be here for years. But 3mo in... <shaking head> Increasingly I find myself thinking "there's no point." I find that alarming for such a great premise and otherwise great game. I know others have complained about many aspects of the game. I know plenty of people are thrilled. But I think when you want something to succeed you should state your issues in a respectful way, with suggestions on how to improve - not just complaints. So. Having done so, I will now dismount the soap box. Thanks for reading...
  2. Actually, I don't agree. Being positive is what allows someone to interject a "yes, but..." without the heat of being enflamed by "this sucks!" It does not immediately set someone on the defensive. Apply this to any other aspect of life. Are you more inclined to voice concerns when the atmosphere is positive or when it's tense? I'm not saying people do not have legitimate issues. I'm saying we don't have to hear about them in flatly doomsaying, end-of-world statements. I go into a Dodge factory: I hate the number of colors available! I want a butt warmer, I think the plastic molding is the wrong color, I want bigger windows, I don't like the lift gate it should open out not up, I want a rear-view camera, I want big tires, I don't want those stupid cupholders in the cargo section, I don't want an antenna, it should be in the windshield, oh and about that windshield.. I don't like the way it's angled. At this point, everyone in the room is bristling and thinking "Well if you don't like the blasted car don't buy one and get the heck out!" But you start with - hey, I really like this car. I've driven it for a while and I'd buy another one tomorrow, but... if you could look at <list> I think you could improve. How do you think the ppl in the room are likely to respond? Are they going to yell at me to ST.FU or are they going to lean back and start talking... hey, she could have something... let's look at <list>. Positive interaction will result in more fruitful discussion than bitter complaints.
  3. Oh, heaven's no. I'm all for healthy discussion of legitimate issues. The game *does* have them. But the endless negativity is exhausting and discourages participation in problem-solving more than encouraging it. Words like 'fail' and 'sucks' and 'die' are hardly enticing to improving the game. They set up the feeling of defeat before you can even get started. The game is roughly two months old, and so many posts seem to be saying 'it's on life support, just pull the plug." Would they be so fast to pull the plug if they weren't anonymous users with free liberty to throw trash all over? I do care, and I do want improvement - I'm just not inclined to throw the baby out with the bath water. It's as though - since you spilled your glass of milk, you've decided the cure is to throw out the carton. There's still good milk in there. You can still drink it. Add some chocolate syrup and it goes down even better. You don't just pour it down the drain whining and complaining. And in your own words - what "fact" are you talking about? Where is your proof, where is the professional analysis? It's opinion only - no more factual than my opinion of liking the game. You are not, however, my enemy. If you have constructive thoughts, by all means share them. But when I see post after post of "this game sucks", "this game is broken", "this game is fail"... how can I sit there and allow that to be unchallenged? I said I liked the game. I said why. That it has issues needing attention is accepted - but if you love the game can't you just state so? Do you have to point out every flaw it has, demand that it be fixed *your* way, dismiss anyone not agreeing with you as a "fanboy" or some ignorant noob? Lighten up.
  4. Not to mention the hat that looks like a gimp mask! Fake eyes, no nose or mouth!? It's freak show scary!
  5. Ahh. I haven't actually seen them - odd I know, since I've seen so many negative posts, but honestly I hadn't seen the mods ask for a stop to it. Ah well.. those who like the game will stick around, those who don't - won't, and that's ok. It's just so discouraging to see constant negativity - which is why I should stop reading the forums lol.
  6. yeah, 2 replies were removed... I had really just hoped people would see the good in the game and maybe leave remarks saying so. Guess it didn't help I had to call out all the whiners and complainers
  7. I'm really enjoying the game! I have a character at 50 that's a blast to play, another at a lower level that's also fun. I've hugely enjoyed the storylines, have been delighted I haven't had to kill for toenails, that I can send minions off to craft so I don't have to. I love all the voice acting, the cinematics, the sound effects, the music. The flashpoints are a blast, and while I've only done Eternity Vault once - I loved the interesting environment and boss mechanics. I liked that there was a puzzle to solve instead of yet another high hit point boss you just have to whack on for 20min. I think the graphics are terrific and that you've fixed many of the bugs with graphics and the game in general. I like it that you are paying close attention to how the game is working, that patches and updates have come early and often - game is only 2 months old and new material was added! - and I'm looking forward to further changes and more content that is sure to come. Note to self: Try to avoid the forums. The negativity is more powerful than the Dark Side and it's ruining my immersion.
  8. I've played a few MMO's including WoW. Comparing the content of a 7 year old game, with that of a game that's been out roughly 2 months is ridiculous. Does SWTOR have enough end-game? No. It's two months old. Beyond that fact though, is that players will *always* out-play content it takes months to prepare. So out come 5 more levels, a couple dungeons, a raid - and that day some players are already at the new level cap, have dungeons on farm, and take their tried-and-true fellow raiders *but no one else* into the one new raid. A week later they have all the latest uber gear and then they sit around in trade chat trolling or complaining they have nothing to do and the end-game sucks. Players will always outstrip content unless devs make the game a deliberate grind like so many Asian MMOs do, and frankly I'll /wrists before I ever play another Korean MMO.. SWTOR has its flaws - like WoW, TOR is too easy to level. Gear drops too frequently, crafting needs work, the game still has bugs that were found on release, PvP needs some work, and yes, there needs to be more end-game content. But I'm willing to give them time to create it. I'm willing to do the things in the game I can do - whether that's craft, look for datacrons, fill out world maps, do flashpoints/hms/ops, or just sit around at Carrick station waiting for my guild's lone tank to log in so I can go blow things up in spectacular fashion. It's a game, folks. Not your job. Relax. Enjoy the ride, and if you don't - just leave. Those of us who want to stay will stay, those who don't have already left and don't care.
  9. I've played a few MMOs as well and the term was always DPS. Furthermore, those classes who do the dps know they are the dps - whatever the game or class. It is, with the exception of one carbon-based lifeform on a small blue-green planet in the outer arm of a spiral galaxy, universally understood. Language changes - words change meanings in time. Flammable and inflammable mean precisely the same thing - items that can be set on fire. Yet society has decided that flammable is for things that catch on fire, and inflammable can NOT be set on fire. A nunnery in Shakespear's time was NOT a building full of nuns - it was a house of prostitution. "Gay" means cheerfully free, light-hearted, but these days no one will understand that as the meaning if you say "I feel gay". So while your sensibilities may be offended, the culture of gamers has ruled against you. Game over.
  10. I bought a really cool skateboard. I love the color, the design is great, the wheels are really nice. I've had a lot of fun with my skateboard, but I can't recommend it because I really think it needs a lot of work to be viable in today's world. First, I think it needs an engine - while I go faster with my skateboard than walking, there's a real lack of power in the current release. Then, I think it needs some sort of cockpit... something surrounding you, because it's no fun skateboarding when it rains, or if it's hot. Putting a shell on it would enable me to control the environment. Next, I think the wheels will need to be bigger to accomodate the weight of the 'cockpit' and to run the engine there will need to be frequent re-fueling locations, and I don't see ANY right now. Oh, and putting lights on it would be great so that I can ride it in the dark. Skateboards today really need to be 24hr conveyance. Only riding a few hours in each day is inefficient. I also think I should be able to play my own music, so put some sort of music player in it. There are other things of course, but if I have to do all the thinking for the skateboard designers what the heck am I paying them $60 for? I mean, seriously, all this should have been done before they ever released the skateboard. Don't they know what year it is? /rolling eyes
  11. Your review doesn't matter. If someone is enjoying the game they don't care, and if they're not - they don't care. I'm having a good time. I do have concerns: 1) I think it's too easy to level 2) I think our skills are over-powered. 3) I would like the option of having companions craft - so that I can do some things myself. 4) An appearance tab would be nice 5) the Trade Market needs a simple 'search' feature. It's difficult finding things when you don't know where to search. Simply being able to type in something would be great. Also - gear needs to be sorted out by slot. Having to wade through 24 pages of gear when all you want is gloves is a nuisance. There may be other niggling issues, but frankly - I'm having fun. Flashpoints are terrific and I'm looking forward to some of the harder operations. Rewards are crazy good and common to the point I'd almost say they're *too* common. It wrecks some of the crafting and makes it harder to earn money selling them (for those who like the monetary parts of games). I will subscribe and I anticipate playing the game for some time. I do not expect it to provide me with WoW's 7 years of content on release. I know at some point I will be waiting on new content, but if it lives up to the depth of story etc in the release I will wait patiently. Given the track record of the companies involved, I'm willing to cut them some slack on initial lapses and hold some faith in their ability to tweak the game as needed. I don't want easy button, and I don't want so ridiculously hard you feel like you've been drafted into an unpleasant job. I think they've struck a nice balance that needs some fine tuning. I'm willing to allow them time for that.
