Even w/ full champion tanking gear, I've felt very squishy too and always thought that certain abilities like lightning didn't get mitigated - or at least weren't being mitigated as much as other attacks. It's highly disappointing and it's plainly obvious that the way to go in PVP is high crit+surge, because tanking just doesn't have enough survivability when compared to the extremely high dmg being pumped out by other players/specs. The opportunity cost of doing an extra 200k+ dmg per game as dmg spec is too high when the survivability as tank spec isn't there....and I'd still keep 30k protection stats via spamming taunts. Hopefully, they change this.
