  1. Have you played any bioware RPG in the last few years? They all tend to be that way with the decision wheel...most of what's in there is a summarization of what you're saying, being able to choose my character's voice though I would agree with but just text responses and have NPCs talk, not as much.
  2. I refer to my well thought out post where I addressed all that. You can't judge something new with something established. Then cite as to why it makes it good or bad. Good reason why they probably didn't do it yet is because it's still in development or planning on being added later because ALREADY there IS people asking for FP queues but there is a debate being held that they want it to be same server only, which I concur with. None of this cross server cacophony that WoW had. No game is without balance issues at launch..or any other problem you cited as your reason for not liking this game. The hate toward the people who "don't sleep" getting all the good gear...the initial ladder system in WoW during the Grand Marshal/High Warlord days was the same absolute BS and other then cool titles you HAD to play without sleep...it was annoying and I -hated- it. So, again that was "changed" and isn't present in this game..which is also why they're adding a level 50 bracket because the 50s currently have that "Gear" advantage you speak of 1-49 seem to run ok and I didn't hate it when I was in the warzones at launch...its only when it was swarmed by 50s in champion gear that ***** everyone much like resilience vs non resil because of the "expertise" that gear yields. Your arguments are moot because most of them will be addressed in a few content patch updates from now, but because WoW has spoiled people they use it as a lynchpin for all OTHER MMOs. I wonder if that means Blizzard's other MMO "Titan" will fail because it's also not WoW. I'm just saying, once again, these kinda games evolve and change and that game you like to use to classify all other games by it...didn't have all those "neat" things at launch either. If you played for 8 years...you would know this.
  3. I don't think it's -that- debatable if it was lucasarts that made the game with the go ahead from George Lucas. I saw the dev diaries for it and in one of them they were working closely with Geroge Lucas to find out what they could and could not mention or use in the game because he wanted to "Canonize" it as a bridge between 3 and 4...story wise anyway. I think the force is easily capable of doing things like that but to a certain degree. It's not like he instantly pulled down that star destroyer with a "simple wave" of the hand. One of people's favorite quotes from Vader, after all about the technological terror or whatever being insignificant next to the power of the force. I guess only time will tell how important Galen Marek is to the SW universe since his story isn't technically over yet.
  4. You know, I skimmed through that thread and I couldn't help but be brought back by a lot of the constant hate of the "PT" and how "bad" it was. I saw the OT before the PT came out, of course. I believe I saw them back in 1996 for the first time when they were "remastered" THX film and sound quality on VHS. The "original" trilogy "One Last time". Then the "Special Editions" came out and I was like...cool, I guess. What people fail to realize after barring such hate and animosity toward them and CONSTANTLY citing that link as to "Why" you'll hate the PT and GL forever is moot, really. Since if you have NEVER and I repeat NEVER seen any of the movies before and actually watch them in chronological order, they would make a lot better sense instead of this whole "ret conning" being tossed around since it can't be "ret conned" if those were the ones that were SUPPOSED to come first anyway. I don't hate any of the SW movies but there are some I like more then others and I do agree on. Hayden made Anakin seem like a big whiner and kinda killed that role a bit for me, but it's not to say he didn't try his best. I just didn't like it very much. Yes, some of the "falling in love" parts were really dragged out and so on. Jar jar was a dumb character I think too but I think he was put there to appeal to kids and from what I could tell some young kids actually liked him cause he was clumsy. The midichlorian thing added...yeah I think that felt "added" to try and emphasize how "special" Anakin was since "No jedi has had a count that high" before and so on. He likes to cite the "lack" of a main character in Phantom Menace but that's because it's trying to build up to one, in my opinion. It's setting the stage for Anakin and prior to him showing up I'd say it was mostly Qui-Gon and Obi-wan alternating as a main character and Qui Gon filling that role when they hit tatooine until Anakin is picked up and so on. However, they all carry memorable moments for me. Eps 1 had the most intense Lightsaber duel I ever got to see. Eps 2 had the really nifty Jedi battle in the colliseum and Yoda's first time ever in actual combat. Eps 3 had a very "touching" 1 on 1 fight with An/Obi and Mace Windu had a decent one with Sidious...albeit it was kinda lame how quickly he killed the other masters but it kinda cements the whole. "Sidious being the most powerful Sith Lord" type motiff he was going for and how Windu was referred to as being the most gifted, at the time, at lightsaber combat only to be blindsided by Anakin (God, I HATE that Bob Barker! *adam sandler voice*) In conclusion, you can "hate" the PT all you want and that's fine but you're still here...still playing the game (if not you're just trolling) and probably still paid your money's worth at the box office. The re release in 3D for the PT is questionable but I might still check it out because I like theatre experiences and it's nice to get my hopes up about a floated rumor that if the re release of the SW films in 3D did well that he would make Eps 7 8 and 9.
  5. Your disapproval is noted, however, this game was in development since about 2006. It's interesting how you cite WoW as a successful MMO and indeed it has been but it had a shotty launch as well, plagued by a multitude of bugs. Warzones weren't around in WoW at launch neither were dungeon queues, yet it still took off. In order to compare this game to WoW properly you should analyze both at their launch, in reality, their about the same. I'd give this one a bit of an edge because it had stuff that it probably learned from WoW but WoW itself didn't innovate but re iterated what already existed and made it smooth and more enjoyable. It took what was good and made it better and left out what drew a lot of complaints. Balance was also a HUGE issue at WoW launch too since it wasn't until Burning Crusade that both factions got the same classes (Paladins/Shamans) so there was always an outcry about how one class was more OP then the other and how one never got to go raiding and so on. (I draw all this since I played WoW a couple weeks after launch...since it was almost impossible to be there AT launch due to the same queue problems in this game) It's also funny that you mention being upset about being asked "Why" you want to quit. Every single time I took a break from WoW I would be asked everytime why I was desubbing with that corny human begging animation and the crying orc. They ask, so they can try and see if they can use that feedback to improve the game if you have a "real" problem with it's mechanics. In reality, I believe it is generally agreed that of most MMOs to release to date the most "complete" was "Rift" and I never really got to play that one in spite of the good things I heard. I had been disenfranchised with MMOs at the time...burned out by WoW and while the similarities are there I like the interactive story and FPs in this one and it feels alot less boring doing your regular grinds here. Just incase you want to add why play a "clone". Bioware has always had great stories...I also can't wait till Mass Effect 3
  6. I would also point out that your assessment isn't entirely correct. Let's take the well known "chosen one" aka Anakin Skywalker, his own mom said he was exceptionally gifted and was said that he could do things no normal human could without any prior training. To what extent, they never go into ALOT of detail other then pre cognition which is a VERY powerful ability nonetheless. Also, the main character from the Jedi Knight Academy game, Jaden Korr, was able to construct a lightsaber without any prior training as well. I would also point out that "The Force" is very MUCH like magic in this universe. There are things such as "Force Witches". Incredible feats at your command, being able to do superhuman feats by calling in this unseen and powerful "Force". That sounds like magic to me. The reason I tend to adore Star Wars is because it blends two of my favorite things together, Sci-fi and fantasy. So, giving him such evil backstory is not a bad thing it just says what the other person before me pointed out. That he is a being of pure hatred and it's not un common for "exceptional" beings to be born once in a blue moon in a generation or so. It's kind of like...he's the Doogie Howser of the darkside of the force or something.
  7. Not looking for neutral choices because that's a matter of perspective the outcomes you pick must lead somewhere, not nowhere. I'm more on the side of the original point in this thread about how it pertains to gear and how it kind of unfortunately seems to force people to meta game instead of making the choices they want to make. It would be nice if it scaled or something like I suggested earlier...perhaps
  8. I agree with the context of this thread as a whole. I'm not saying, yeah let's make "Gray" stuff cause on the one side of the argument, I agree. That's just kinda dumb in many ways, but I respect the "Revanite" philosophy but when I do things on my Bounty Hunter for example I'm not really "Grey" I go where I want my character to go...where the credits are. I A lot of times, if I feel I'm not being paid to do something enough I won't do it and it will yield LS points or if I was paid to bring a boy back and murder his father because it was what I was -paid- to do that will yield DS points. In the black talon, for example, Kilran heavily inferred the imperial treasury would be grateful to do what was requested and he wanted the captain dead (DS points) and would prefer the General returned (LS points) which is what I tend to do even though I gave kilran a hard time because my bounty hunter doesn't really care for authority or the empire as a whole, just money. (doing those two options makes me walk out even dark/light) I've already RPed that if the republic had a bounty board I'd be working for them too. So, it becomes difficult later on to use restricted items for this reason. So while' I'm not exactly in "neutral" since I have like 750 LS points and around 600 DS points because decisions I would make as a character -myself-. I'm also having a similar problem on my inquisitor, I'm doing selfish things or what I like to think as "planting" seeds of dissent for later to confuse other Sith so I can rise to power and I've already yielded quite a bit of LS from it. I'm about 800 LS and 700 DS, because I'm doing it for -me- and if I feel I'm ever questioned(even though that wouldnt happen but I like to immerse in my character) I could simply pin it on the person who assigned me the mission with enough cunning. It's not for some self righteous point of view I do this. I'm not trying to be "unique" in rolling a LS Sith because I know people want to do that like they are somehow "breaking the mold", far from it. I'm trying to RP a "Machiavelli/Sun Tzu" type character by balancing subjugation of being Feared and Loved and if you cannot have both then it is probably better to be Feared. This is the issue of this thread, there has to be someway to make it work. Instead of maybe saying Dark 1 alignment maybe it could be Dark 1 alignment -or- 2000 alignment points total...or something. I'm sure there is other ways of approaching it where they can reward people who stay on one path and ways to appeal to people who like to make decisions based on how they want to play their characters.
  9. Really? So there -is- local chat? I knew about no whispers and figured no mail...THANK the force..nvm then haha!
  10. Exactly my point...the RP servers even have that warning at the bottom about maturity and so on and so forth. This would be a really nice feature and I think something the RP community would like very much
  11. I know you can't send whispers to players from opposing factions but I heard you can't speak to them in local either. I think RP servers and RP PvP probably more so...should at least allow this because it creates potential for very fun Roleplaying. I don't see why they can't do this. It's not WoW...there is no language barrier between races. Everyone speaks Galactic Basic, right? I understand they do it to prevent harassment but isn't that also what the ignore button is for? Can anyone explain why they dont allow this or if they will ever allow it? Anyway to suggest that it be changed? Thanks!
