  1. So let me get this straight. The Op canceled his subscription because of a nerf to Imp Agent that involves PVP. Which basically says, the OP canceled his account because he didn't like some subtle issue involving his relative strength in PVP that he would no longer have now. His entire enjoyment / non-enjoyment of this game is based around a single trivial issue. Not the story, not the raiding, not even enough to look at another class. Yep, I'll stand by my previous belief about the general culture of PVP'ers
  2. PVP can be enjoyable, but folks take it all WAY to seriously PVP'ers really seem to whine a LOT. Let me tell you some basic truths: You will always die in pvp There is always someone better There is always one class that is better than others PVP can never be balanced. People will always whine about class X, The X just changes You will never be playing that class The whole thing is just a slog of futility It has just never appealed to me So I raid and die a lot and always have folks who play better than me and whine about how unfair class X is and never seem to pick Class X to play In reality just slogging at a completely different version of futility But I tend not to whine quite as much.
  3. To the OP Mass Effect comes out march 6th You can feel free to leave to go play that for a while ME3 should last you about 4 days Next is Terre Online that launches in May in the US Hot girls may hold your razor sharp attention span for maybe a month After that, maybe you could go learn to code Then you can make your own game up Since obviously you are a clear expert on what it takes to design and market a game. That way we can all get the "Perfect" game
  4. OMG... I love this post. Very well done. BTW - I hate PVP. Really nothing to do with state of PVP. It's my problem not yours Weird quirk in my psyche - I really hate to lose and die Kinda strange since I LOVE PVEraiding. It's why I play MMO's And in PVE raiding you die all the time But.. its kinda inpersonal dying, not "Tea-bag-in-my-face" kinda dying And.. I carry a vague, lost dream that I can someday consistantly beat a give boss. So, yea - Hate PVP Love your attitude about it. Keep up the good work
  5. Ok, It is now one month after launch I just did this for the first time today. W/o knowledge of the bug. Fought the dude for 22 min. Could not get the guy to stop healing. So.. now I come to the forums and find that is a known bug since Pre-launch Come on bioware.... and your customer service person's response to a main quest story line bug is to "Fill out a bug report so we can know about it" Jeeeze guys... as of the CSR post - you officially KNOW ABOUT IT. Now it is a month after launch and we have a zombie fest rakghoul content patch And you stil have not fixed something as basic as a main story quest bug. Guys... not really feeling good about your QA dept here.
  6. Hey I have a great way to eliminate all this pvp whining... Get rid of pvp Yea, then we wouldn't have to worry about balancing pvp in a pve game, Or have stats moved around all the time to try to balance something that can never be balanced.
  7. I want dual specs I like to tank I like to DPS I accept that I can't change my AC - cause it is basically my "Class" But I really would like to change my role to suit what is needed. So..... please give us dual class or at least cap the respec to a reasonable number
  8. This is an incredibly effective build Very very "Do lots of damage" kind of approach The cc is nice as well. Frankly though, I kinda shocked that sorc has gotten out of the gates "As Is" The talents synergize SO WELL: For example this is just PURE death: Wraith + Deathmark + Lightning Barrage combination talent with Creeping Death Crits on a Crushing Darkness insticast spell AND (as non-physical damage) it goes right through armor.I'm amazed that sorc got that combo alone. With added bonus of - An insticast CC (Whirlwind) - Plus an "effective" insticast AOE that goes through armor (wraith/chain lightning) Yea, ride it while ya can Cause we is gonna be hit with the nerf bat - but quick.
  9. So far (mid 30's) if I run the "level relavent instance" a time or two I've found I can skip about 15% of the quests of the planet in question. Additionally, the thought of not killing mobs in an RPG to make sure you get exp.. You HAVE played Mass Effect (1&2), right? Gee just HOW many geth or harvesters can you find on a given mission - "Hhmmm three more over there - yea kill them too; its exp's"
  10. I'm working my way up on three tank specs Each has their own benefits/drawbacks But, in general, trash tanking (seems to me) a lot harder in this game Given that trash pulls are BIG (4-6 mobs) Given that there is a ton of Ranged --- that can not be line of sight gathered. Given that there is a much smaller threat advantage in SWTOR than other games So it is really hard to even hit every trash mob, let alone hit them enough to hold aggro AND dps is typical dps. Nobody even talks about cc, DPS are completely running around randomly Zerg appears the name of the game YET, strangely (at least in normal instances of moderat level) folks are NOT getting shredded by trash. Most of the mobs are non-elites (strongs). Most dps (exp heavy armor guys) can handle tanking one such mob themselves. I definitely "tab target" around and try to catch most targets with some damage I watch my healer and try to use TAUNT for them I don't taunt off dps who are off beating on a mob themselves I focus on the elites and try to keep the mobs off my healer. Really that is about all you can do in this game right now. I just don't hope it goes to extreams in end-game
  11. No... I disagree that this is "Not a big issue" Sorry, but they change stuff, then don't catch up to their own design changes. AND this was known well before formal launch. We are about 1 month after "pre-launch"; We are on our second patch Truely overall this simply reinforces the perception that Tankasins aren't "Real Tanks" Eventhough in many encounter designs we offer a superior combination of range/melee So, yea, get to it. Copy/Paste the exact same thing for Sith Warriors But substitute STRENGTH for WILLPOWER Just like the DPS foci are.
  12. The op has a very nice well laid out point Not sure if it is a problem for me But I do agree with his point of linear feel and slightly "cramped" Even Drumond Kaas and Corescent (sp) feel "little" And the Republic home world is supposed to have teeming trillions Again, not a problem for me right now But would be nice to see some more expansive and non=restricted real estate later oh and a jetpack for my Bounty Hunter.
  13. This is NOT about what MODS should be allowed. This is REALLY about what kind of CULTURE we want in this game. The FACT that we have two populations of gamers is pretty evident Call tehm EXCEL and CASUAL Mxing these two groups is GREAT from a game publisher standpoint It makes you $$$$$$ However forcibly mixing these two groups has has lead to a LOT of bad stuff This has lead to a LOT of bad habits that have come about in MMO community Often by folks trying to "sort" players. Often the EXCEL players trying to sort out CASUAL players. CASUAL players don't really care, they just want to play If we can fix that cultural dynamic then what kind of mods used kinda becomes moot. (Yes this gets even more emotional when confonting PVP issues) The KEY issue here is that the EXCEL and CASUAL don't mix well. In a happy world of early MMO's (say TBC/WOW) the groups tended to self-segregate However then the LFG tool happend And you got EXTRA BONUS if you used it - so you HAD to use it. So...... EXCEL's were forcibly mixed with CASUALS So... "incompetent" was mixed with "a...hole" and... in response we get.... a) Gear score.... please show me you have a clue via your gear b) Damage meters... here is how clueless you are by your crappy dps c) Add-on checks; cause if they have addon's they are more likely "not an idiot" d) The "Group-kick" and then "Gear-check/Group kick" and the"Tank-Rage-Quit" Leading to ..... Lack of healers (cause so-so healing was hard to hide) Lack of Tanks (cause so-so tanking is impossible to hide) HUGE excess DPS'ers (cause so-so dps don't cause wipes - mostly) So... now... We have a new game A REALLY good game Lots of folks like it But.... Game Designers STILL want to make games that sell to LOTS of folks. (so both types will forever more be smashed together) Thus the conflict will continue Options Ideas ???? A "Radial button flag" for Casual vs Competative? when you sign up for a run? A real "Two levels of play" option that lets you progress slowly Some way to keep the two groups apart Don't even ask me how to fix PVP balance issues (I don't think you can... ever... really) Looking for an option here Because this is a really good game And I want to play it.
  14. My spacebar is getting quite a workout lately - but so is my Esc key But I have a great keyboard so I think it will be ok More to the point, WHY I'm using and HOW I'm using dialog features Anytime MID_WAY (up to the last instant of a cut-scene) you can hit ESC key This RESETS the entire dialog sequence from the last beginning point This lets me see all of the dialog choices and consequences (including picking the best light/dark side points and companion results) Plus it is just great to see and hear all the story/voice acting in the game When combined with space bar - I can fast forward though old part/sections already viewed. Thus I am not using space bar to skip parts, I'm using to see more...... Kinda like my own "save" key. It puts me back in control of my own destiny Ahhh... feels good to be the master of time and space again.
  15. Personally, I'm taking the safe path this time I'm never going to play an AC that has a healing tree, ever I'll tank I'll melee dops I'll ranged dps on a NON-HEALING TREE AC But I won't heal Every again If that means the game collapses because of idiocy of players Then so be it. A nice alternative would be a game where you don't NEED the trinity. Folks have some level of self heal, some level of damage resisitance And you all have to play smart But at that point you're pretty much just playing Halo.
