  1. While I have never experienced that slow leveling experience due to all the daily quests and PvP, I will agree with you 100% by saying that the quests feel grindy. There are so many things I love about this game, I think the story element is spot on, but the quests and most of the game play have no new dynamics. I really wish Bioware would switch up the normal combat. I can't stand how the only interesting fights are reserved for flash points. As for quests, good god put me in a speeder. Let me make bombing runs on my ship. I am tired of repairing 5 ( ), or planting bombs. Not to mention, apparently 60% of the bad guys live in caves.
  2. Could not disagree more. The only reason I am playing this game and decided to play it is because of the story. I hate all the grinding mechanics of MMO's and have lost interest in reaching max levels since EQ. I don't even care about GW2 because the story aspect looks like ****. Sure the pvp will be awesome, GW has the best pvp but as a lover of literature give me story any day of the week. With that said I think story has a great chance of carrying this MMO because it has cornered the market for people like me. Myself and all 12 of my friends have all agreed that this is one of the best mmo's we have ever played. Next to EQ it is my favorite by far. That's because we are just story type people. Different strokes for different folks.
  3. I played on Vallos, so it was team based PvP without the gear looting but I still had a blast. I agree with you 100%, sure EQ was unforgiving and vicious. But that is what made it exciting. I Remember the first time I set foot in the PoF or unrest. The first time I actually made it to the ghost of the unrest. That **** was scary because you knew you might die, you might loose a crap ton of exp, and then you were going to spend a ton of time getting your body. The fear you had in those moments is what made you feel truly heroic when you succeed. You braved terrible dangers and came out with a pair of dwarven work boots! The lack of challenge in today's mmo's removes the fear. Without the fear, there is no sense of true adventure.
  4. Hell yeah! Back in my day when you were three levels down in a dungeon it put the fear of God in you because you knew if you died you would be standing around begging a necromancer to help you and all your humiliated naked friends to help you get your body and all your gear. Sure we had invisibility but it didn't work against undead! And some mobs even had see invis! You know how you found out!? You died fool !!! PvP? There wasn't this mamsy pamsy crap where a level 50 can beat on level 20's for kicks. Hell no, you fought people with in 5 levels of you and that's it! And when you died you got robbed of all the money you had on you. And you know what! You freaking liked it!!! This whole rezzed where you died stuff never happened. When you died you came back in the last town you bound in and if that was a 2 hour walk you walked. And you walked naked through higher level zones full of angry mobs that arggo'd when you were miles away from them!!! Taxis? Mounts? What the hell are those fan-dangled contraptions? Five words. Can I bum a Sow? Auction house? Hell no, you stood in a damn zone shouting WTS Wumslayer 7k for as long as it took! Yeah we even had hell levels. I don't even want to tell you about those.
  5. No thanks, I don't want to have my cake and eat it. If I roll a tank, I want to PLAY a tank. Not having duel spec makes me feel unique among the FOUR other classes. Now all this work I put into playing and building my class takes a big kick to the face because everyone wants to be the best at everything. They want to heal AND DPS. If Bioware wants to add this to the game they need to take a vote because there are a lot of people who do not want this feature.
  6. A beautiful constructive post. I to am eagerly hoping for the release of a better space engine. I think a few small changes that could up the game is: 1.) Right now, space needs to be tied into the game. It shouldn't be a separate side quest you can pick up in your ship. It should be PART of the main story line. If I HAVE to fight my way through a fleet of enemy fighters to get to that top secret space station, suddenly my ship becomes important and I care about it. Right now using your ship doesn't have a point. I mean you get a bit of EXP and that's it. Add paint options, interior customization, and missions that blend with the galaxy instead of floating lifelessly at the side. Bioware needs to makes space missions that blend into the actual plot line of the game. The death star wasn't some random *** side plot of the Star Wars universe. I was a super weapon that blended into the actual game. 2.) Give us some damn dialogue! Look at Star Fox. That game was awesome! It had the same "Train Track" engine but what made it so great was the classic dialogue. Seeing your enemies pop up on the screen to threaten you, or that damn rabbit telling you to do a barrel roll... that was good stuff. Throw in some ally fighters to call me red leader and I can promise i'm going to love flying my ship MUCH MORE.
  7. First off, in case you didn't notice I think this game is great. I'd say it's the best MMO i've ever played, but before anyone out there explodes into a wild mad rant of trolling frenzy remember I am stating this as an opinion. My personal love for video games reside in the story and character development. And with that said in the MMO market there's not a lot of competition for this nerds video game loving heart. With that said let's take a look at some simple thoughts from a simple fellow. PVP Truth be told I like the PvP. Is it perfect? Oh absolutely not. As far as perfection goes i'd have to say that title belongs strictly to GW. A system that focuses on skillful builds rather than levels and gear is sheer brilliance. Playing guild matches was a work of art. Sadly anything outside of the arena in that game was nothing short of painful. SWToR will never rival GW in the PvP section, but there are some simple things they can do to improve. Lets get the obvious stuff out of the way that everyone has ranted about. No delays in combat Brackets More War zone Maps Open World PvP rewards The truth is most of those, if not all, already seem to be in the works and since i'm enjoying myself i'm not beating down SWToR's door demanding results. On the other hand there are a few more obscure things that I personally would like to see. Percentage PvP titles Here's what I mean by that. I don't know if anyone had the displeasure of experiencing EQ2's god awful pvp system but one thing they hit spot on was the PvP titles. Rather then handing out a title because you've killed amount of foes, the title was given to you based on your death to kill ratio. With how things are, when I see someone running around in SWToR with a Warlord title it doesn't mean crap to me. All that says is that this guy has PvPed a lot. Now throw in the Death to Kill ratio and suddenly the title Warlord strikes fear and makes me want to cower under a rock. Now to prevent people from completely screwing over all the war zone objectives due to their determination to obtain an epic title, I would recommend a Death to Kill ratio only available from open world PvP. Which brings me to the next topic... Open World PvP Other than the lack of tokens for PvPing I think a big problem that needs the smallest solution is that we need directions. Look if you're not playing on a PvP server those PvP areas that Bioware gave us are practically impossible to find. I mean I needed a damn road map to find the one on Tatooine and when I asked the zone full of over 100 people NO ONE knew! Put a big red star on that map and let people know where the killing is at! Secondly throw some side quests in that area. Give us a reason to battle on Tatooine and give us something to take over to build that classic pride. Quests Now I can't get enough of the automated quest system, but i'll admit it, some of these damn quests get old. Outside of the class story and the main plot for the planet, even i've gotten tired of "repair this tower," "Destroy that tower." "Plant this bomb," "Disable that bomb." Sure the voice adds a little to it but on occasion I still find myself in that tedious slump. Simple solution? Vehicles and Diversity. Look I'm pretty sure the word i'm about to use here functions like Beetlejuice, and if I use it three times this entire thread will explode into mad chaos. So i'm only going to say it once. "WoW" did a good job of this. *ugh* Ok look, I don't like the game but i'll give them credit where it's due. In their later expansions "That game" did a good job of switching up quests by allowing you to control vehicles and or NPC's. Look this is Star Wars, when i'm on Hoth I want to jump in a snow speeder and blast some Imperial Walkers. I want to take my starship and do fly by's over imperial bases. I want to steal and enemy fighter and crash land in their base only to sabotage their reactor and be rewarded with a beautiful explosive cutscene. Give us missions where we can program a few crappy droids and take them on a shooting rampage. For me this is probably the biggest thing that is keeping SWToR from becoming a truly great game. Lastly. Space Alright, I think the space part of the game has potential, but right now it feels like a little bit of frosting that was slapped last minute on the cake. Now I am very excited that Bioware announced that they are already looking into this issue because it really is a great part of Star Wars. Right now, space needs to be tied into the game. Hell the most epic scene in A New Hope was the space battle at the Death Star. Now if someone left Luke an email saying "Hey, want to come blow up this space station?" I don't know if he'd of really cared... On that same note, most of the climatic moments in the space battles was not the action but rather people screaming at each other in their ships. Now, these are my thoughts, what do you guys have?
  8. Please, the whole reason I never got into WoW was because it felt Exactly like EQ with the small addition of battlegrounds. SWToR gave me a story to follow and get lost in rather than mindless grinding and lore you can only pick up on through forcing your way through hours of dull chat bubbles.
  9. Not being able to have the lightsaber color you want is a "gamebreaker for many?" Holy crap that is the more sad and completely hysterical thing i've read on here in weeks. I mean if someone considers this game broken and or quits because they can't have the lightsaber color they want then they are playing the wrong game. Please, go play Sims. Second, the reason you can't have what ever color you want is because Bioware has at least a small amount of love and respect for the Star Wars universe. Sith use RED sabers, not green, not blue, not yellow, RED. If you're not sporting Red, from what i've seen in the Star War's universe, you ain't Sith.
  10. Alright folks, let's get constructive. First lets address the "this feels old" WoW comparison. Now i'll be upfront. I HATED WoW. My reasons? To me WoW felt old. I jumped on that game and felt that it had the same damn formula as EQ just it was a bit more polished. Personally I didn't want polished, I wanted new, I wanted story. I wanted character development. I hated the giant shoulder pad animation, and felt the quests were the same old bland quest i'd been doing for years. So I quit WoW and joined back up for Cataclsym. Now I will commend Blizzard for adding a bit of story, some cut scenes and much more enjoyable quests. However the game still didn't have enough story. And the game felt easy. Now I want to focus on that note, "easy." Maybe i'm a crazy person but when I played Cata, I remember people ranting for HOURS about how they hated how easy the game became. They hated how simplified and dumbed down WoW was compared then to vanilla. I've seen people rant about this all over their forums and all over the internet. Now again, maybe i'm a crazy person but just about everything on this list that makes TOR feel "old" is everything team vanilla WoW HATED about the expansion. And i'm right there with them. Personally I miss EQ where when you died at the bottom of a dungeon you lost exp and had to crawl down there naked to drag your body out. That crap made dungeons scary. When you saw a big dragon there was an "oh ****t" factor that is now lost in mmo's. I don't want easy, because easy get's boring quick. I don't want to be the best at everything, have duel spec, auto attack, insta groups, and all that other crap. It makes the game dim and simple. Hell if it had a landing open world system, a bit of story, and character development i'd probably be on EVE On to the "Graphics issue." First off WoW looks like clown vomit. That world is full of so much bright neon colors it looks sickening. It's like the Easter bunny, a neon sign, and a rainbow some how created a child and that child became an MMO. Second, the goal of every expansion is how can we make shoulder armor bigger! I mean you've got towering spikes with flaming skulls on your shoulders. These are my feelings on the graphics. Second the only mmo that really went balls to the wall on graphics was EQ2 and that ended up being a terrible idea. I remember when that game came out no one could run it on full settings. Hell most of my friends didn't even play it because they needed a new computer. You might not like TOR's graphics but it's the smart move. Personally, I think they're a little toonish but I like em. Just a thought or two.
  11. Honestly I feel the same way, i'd rather roleplay with faults, morals, and imperfections then just be predictably one-sided. however, I found a solution for the delima as far as gear goes. Just rerun Essles when you get higher. I blew through the thing in like 10 min and got 300 points every run through. That way you can fill your relic slots but play your character how you feel he or she would react.
  12. First of all, i'm just in awe of the things people are upset about/want in a MMO. "- No accessable body of water deeper than 6 inches" Heaven to betsy! No water deeper then six inches! The games a failure, how the hell will our characters ever take a bath!!! All this crying about duel spec, addons, macros, and babershops is just ridiculous. The game has a story, I mean good lord, for me I would take that any day over silly little gadgets. Eventually bioware is going to coner that part of the market. The player who is interested in story and character development rather then simplified raids, mindless grinding, and a pointless world.
  13. You're right, they could of made the game bug free and perfect. I'm sure none of us would of been upset when the release date would of been changed to December 2012. Thanks for delivering on time Bioware. I'll take a few bugs over not playing at all.
  14. As much as I hate looking like everyone else, at least it's a good day to be a trooper. Trooper pvp armor doesn't look that bad. They already mentioned adding to armor customization. I'm sure the dev's are aware of this and working on it.
  15. At this point we can all just assume that Bioware isn't going to add brackets until there are tons of level 50's. Basically all those players who leveled quickly, and had a substantial amount of free time to play need something to do. And folks that "thing to do" is you. Yup, shame on you for having jobs, school, and a bit less free time then your super uber skilled expert opponents! How dare they have to wait to que! You want to enjoy the scenery and have a fair player vs player experience? What the hell do you think this is Mariokart!? Hell no, this is Goldeneye son and they've got the golden gun! Look at this point just accept it. When you're holding down that turret on your own, and you see that lvl 50 sith warrior coming towards you; close your eyes, be brave, and hope he doesn't use the ring finger.
