  1. Thanks for the tip, watching it now (which for some reason I'd rather do than play TOR while I still can)
  2. Astonishing that we haven't gotten at least thát...
  3. As much as I was looking forward to the game, I'm more and more inclined to agree... I'm still giving BioWare some time though (more than they deserve, I know).
  4. While I agree canceling subs probably won't do much, you are missing the point entirely.
  5. I don't recall seeing that, mind if I ask for a link? That evidence hasn't surfaced once in 2 incarnations of this thread, it could be important
  6. I think what they said was they'd try to make sure there wasn't another extension as bad as the last one.
  7. Then why not do a single maintenance during the day, which is cheaper than doing it at night? If it really has to be as cheap as possible, why do it during the night? The level of quality doesn't change, the price tag does. The whole decision makes little sense to me from a financial point of view, if only because BioWare should've known in the long run this may cost subs and even more money...
  8. I'm not convinced of that. It's actually cheaper to have crews working during the day than during the night, yet BioWare has maintenance at night. I think the decision is a little more involved than simply, 'let's go for the cheapest time slot'.
  9. I'm not sure I'd go that far, but it's clear that quite a few things could've been given a lot more thought. Including a decision on BioWare's public attitude towards its paying customers, a little respect wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.
  10. Just amazes me BioWare manages to get so many things wrong when a perfect launch was what they were going for... Considering the budget of the game, I honestly don't understand how these basic things could've gone wrong. I am rapidly losing my fanboyism
  11. Yes it is pretty arrogant. I assume you're starting to see the same pattern I'm seeing.
  12. Check my sig, Damion Schubert said it himself on these forums a while ago, and it seems to hold true still.
  13. I don't think some of the people in this thread realise that what the Europeans want doesn't affect the Americans at all, zip, nada, not in the slightest...
  14. I couldn't agree more. The claim BioWare makes is ridiculous and so blatantly pro-American that it's just silly to see them come up with a silly story to explain it away. If the daytime is truly when fewest people play, do it during the American day, so that the American engineers working on the American servers get the regular American daytime wages instead of a higher nighttime pay. But it's clearly not about money, as evidenced by the choice to do the maintenance during a more expensive time period, namely the night, when employees cost more than during office hours. And as was said countless times before, every MMO does its maintenance at night, regardless of the server's locations. Are all those companies daft, and is BioWare the only one who sees the truly golden way to do business by doing it the way they're doing it? Of course not, BioWare is being stupid. And by offering a service (server access in this case) that is inferior to that of other MMOs by taking away 1 day per week from the European playerbase, they're not only creating an extremely difficult environment for TOR to pick up speed and flourish, they're also wrecking what reputation BioWare has left.
  15. We're talking 2 maintenance schedules. We don't care about moving a single schedule around to accommodate everyone, we want 2 schedules: 1 for the Merkans, 1 for the Euros.
  16. I think it's a safe bet that 11 - 21 is not the lowest possible population. I'll wait for evidence, but I think we both know that's not how it is
  17. You don't understand. American and European daily routines are the same, we all work during the day and we all sleep during the night (well, barring exceptions). So logically, daytime is not when least people are playing, otherwise American maintenance would also be during the day. But it's not... Even the team working on the servers would be working in America, and they'd be more expensive during the night than during the day, no? Then why not save money and have maintenance during the day? It would be cheaper and you just said yourself that fewest people play during the day, as opposed to during the night. So just stop raging and think for a second, and realise that BioWare's decision makes little to no sense.
  18. Sigh... The maintenance would be at night, from 3 AM to 11 AM or so. Do you really believe so many people would still be adamant to play during that time that you can talk of "invading the other continent's servers"?
  19. That's assuming a single maintenance schedule. We want 2 schedules. Leave the one for the American servers as it is, impacting as few people as possible, and introduce a schedule for the European servers as well so that maintenance takes place during the night. That way as few people as possible are affected in BOTH regions of the world. There's no way shifting the schedule from smack in the middle of the day to well past midnight will suddently affect more people.
  20. I would if I could, actually, but I'm not technically subscribed. Using game time, it simply registers the number of days left, but no option to cancel.
  21. Stephen Reid says a lot of things. You'd do well to not believe everything some puppets say ^^ Just think back on the grace period remarks he made and you'll know what I mean. The man is poorly informed most of the time.
  22. I'm fairly sure the forums are brought down to prevent a mass of whiners flocking to the forums. Once the game is back up again, most won't bother posting anyway. Officially though, of course, there's another reason. Just like the official reason for doing worldwide maintenance on the same time is bollocks.
  23. I'm not trying to be smart, I'm trying to understand the entire problem. Stop making such ridiculous assumptions.
  24. Sure, but as I said, I can't think of any local laws that dictate maintenance times for game companies. Can you? You're going to be locked out of the game either way, whether it's at 3 AM, or 3 PM, I don't see why local law would then either dictate a change on those times OR warrant a refund for lost time. I'd be more than happy to see a law that does in fact support that though, and I'll be the first to apply for a refund. I just don't see it happening is all...
