  1. so this: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#101RrG0ukrdbZfMd0MZM.2 (27/12/2) spec isn't the best for PvP tanks anymore?

also, your job as a PvP tank is not to kill people, for that you have the dps :) I don't understand people that want to play tanks and still dps. You might think, tank spec and dps gear is the best of both worlds but it's not. you are gimping both your dps and your tanking ability by going for the "jack of all trades" setup. Assassins can do this with the classic 25/1/17, but not a juggernaut. or at least not as effectively.

don't be a medal w***e :) winning is the only thing that matters.

There is a flaw in your logic. Taking DPS Gear doesn't want to be jack of all trade, it rather wants to optimize the use of your stats, i.e. read it wants to reduce the amount of almost useless stats you get from your PvP gear!

So thats for the gear part, on the build part, it comes to the arguments that the Vengeance specc offers more flat damage reduction compared to Immortal specc. I am not sure if I really prefer Vengeace specc over Immortal yet for the support/tank role I aim for, but you should at least give it a try. Defeaning Defense is a extreme strong defensve skill.

And who says I can't support my healer as good as an Immortal Juggernaut in Defgear? Most of you guys miss the point of this thread by pointing at the false statement that we wan't to DPS instead of tank-support, which is just not true.

  2. I'm an advocate of full dps gear. I'm currently running soresu/shien 18/23 spec.

I'd like to point out that the defensive attributes of this spec(invincible, enraged defence, sabre ward, unstoppable, and of course warzone adrenal), provide flat mitigation values. The beauty of jug pvp tanking come from these abilities. Their application is paramount, and override the gear.

You want to have a set of each? Well gear is damn easy to get now so go hard. My advice to a new jug would be getting yer dps set first. With free respecs you can easily switch to shi-cho depending on yer group makeup/warzone.

Could you please share your hybrid build, was looking for one. Thanks in advance.

    Edit:

    This one? http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#101GrzdkzZcRrRMuzdM.2

  3. 2) your tanks are probably not using their taunts as a regular part of their routine. Unlike other MMO's, the taunts in this game not only pull attention to the tank, but they boost the tanks threat 30% above the HIGHEST threat on that mob. Even if the tank is the highest threat. which means that their taunt is the single largest threat producing skill they have. NOT an emergency button like in other MMO's

Is there some proof or source for this? Because I am not convinced, tanks need taunts for aggroswaps to get the attention of the enemy back asap, you could argue that the singletarget taunt should be implemented in your rotation and the AoE taunt is for "Oh ****"-moments, but I am not sure that this is intended.

    Someone else info on that?

  4. You are the tank. One, if not the most, important role in a group! Make use of that.

But don't be a dick tell everybody in your team how you want to play them, just abuse your power as a tank if you see the group performance really being negatively affected.

People tend to do ****, if they see a tank which throws around advices but is hardly any good himself, just because you are a tank, you still have to do your job right or better to give advices to others.

  5. I am a long-time ago Juggernaut player, with decent PvP experience. So I have no clue about Powertechs in PvP, but I can say that it is perfectly fine to play tank specc in PvP! I played my Juggernaut from level 1 to 50 in Immortal specc and achieved Valor Rank 60+ while doing so. I was at the top of the pvp chart most of time. I did change my gear at some point into the game from defensive orientated to offensive for pvp, because people found out that most defensive stats are useless or very poor in PvP.

You must not underestimate the strength of having a tank guarding a healer, this combo can outlast 2vs4+ if played right. And most of warzones I know are not about killing somebody fast, they are about teamplay! The utility a Juggernaut has to neglect the effectiness of other classes was great in the days, have to see how/if that changed.

And I guess that Powertech also has many utility for protecting or helping your own team. Ofc you won't do the big numbers and kill enemies as fast as other classes, but that is not your goal anyway.

This thread inspired me to stick with Shield Tech on my PT till max level, to test the capabilities in PvP and PvE.

    PS:

You don't need tank PvE speccs if you are not doing Operation Hardmodes! Get those PvP talents in the tank tree, they are the bread and butter for your specc. And use offensive gear as tank specced (class).

  6. As for getting preventive medicine, never give up Grav, instead you might want to take out the point from First Responder, it's widely agreed on in many threads in this forum that stacking Alacrity is actually nerfing yourself because it will leave you ammo starved fast, i personally would say go for crit/surge for big heals.

And put those 2 points free'd up in PM.

This seems like a good argument, keeping it in mind.

  7. Fire and Forget.

Preventive medicine attaches a HoT (Heal over Time) Component to Advanced Medical Probe, see someone dipping low, AMP on the person and move on to the next or reposition yourself while the HoT ticks are still healing said person.

Okay I know that a HoT within the fast heal would be kinda good, but I don't know if it is worth losing Gravity Surge for it...

    Edit:

The source you pulled before, to verify how useless armor in PvP is...was terrible. Because it had nothing to do with armor, which is quite useful in PvP.

  8. Kind of...terrible.

I usually suggest something like: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#800rfRRozcZMIkbRbd0z.1

Thanks for the input, though I want reasons for some of your talent choices:

    • Advanced Tech seems superior to Ironsights in every way, why picking IS instead?
    • Steadied Aim makes no sense to me, instead Heavy Trooper makes me tougher
    • Cell Charger and Charged Barrel make no sense either, I stay in Support Cells
    • Treated Wound Dressings and Med Zone seem to good to pass up...

My objective is to support as a healer and only switch to DPS when nobody needs immediate healing. Maybe this should clarifiy my decisions.

  9. Great vid. As far as people complaining about length, if you have an issue, dont watch. It's that simple. No reason to waste yours and the OP's time by posting drivel.

Its called Feedback, google it, it can be useful...

    @topic

Did watch the movie, skipped much and ended up ~25mins somewhere, saw one decent scene so far. Music is out of place imo, kinda strange mix between hiphop, metal, classic and all...but whatever.

And the link in the info box to your "short footage" does bring me to the original 50 min video?!

  10. Hello,

my first post here, looked through the front page but didn't really find a good post about hybrid speccs Gunnery Combat Medics.

I am currently playing my Commando he is level 16, it is my first alt and I really enjoy playing him. I want to maximize PvP effectivness and here is my build which I came up with, what are your thoughts, what NEEDS to be changed?

    Thanks in advance.

    EDIT:

    New build: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#800rfRoodfbzZrckRR0z.1

  11. It is ignorance to make judgements upon a product without ever doing the research upon it prior to your statement. Mors has helped me a great deal to better understand this class and like many of us, I think we would kindly ask that if you're not in this thread to help others than simply go someplace else.

Rofl srsly dude? Why didn't you ask me I am on your server...LUL

And this thread is not about gameplay tips for Juggernaut noobs, its about a PvP movie which is to damn long... :>

Still couldn't watch it, dunno whats wrong with Prox It, doesn't seem to work at all anymore.
