My character has taken Artifice as one of her crew skills. In working on it I have observed something I find very peculiar. Specifically, the lightsaber crystal colors and Light/Dark alignments required to use them. Traditional lore in Starwars is the Light Side/Jedi use predominantly Blue and Green lightsabers with the color of the blade being a reflection on the training the Jedi has. At the same time all Sith utilize Red lightsabers regardless of what flavor they come in. The Yellow and Purple lightsabers are usually considered special from the generic ones of Blue, Green, and Red. So why is it that the Red Lightsaber Crystals require "Light 1 and above" to use while the Blue and Green require "Dark 1 and above" to use? I for one would like to be a proper evil Dark Side loving Sith with my nifty Blood Red lightsaber symbolic of all the lives I took or destroyed in my rise to power. On a similar note, I have to ask, Why is the special Black-Yellow Lightsaber Crystal so weak? You premise the idea of having an amazing unique Lightsaber if you buy the Deluxe Digital or Collector's Edition of the game (along with an assortment of other toys) but the crystal offered only lasts until you find your first crystal which offers + 5 Endurance. Ontop of that you put in a requirement to be level 7 before you can even utilize the crystal, and given it is only for Lightsabers and you don't get one until you are leaving the starting worlds that seems a little silly especially given how short lived the use of the crystal will be. I for one want to use my special Black-Yellow crystal, but I am not going to sacrifice my stats in order to have a unique blade. Honestly, I would like to see a separation of power from color. I would like to see a slot dedicated in the Lightsabers to customizing the blade color only, and then the slot already in the blade for changing and updating the stats. Since all of these observations come on the notice of Light VS Dark I am dying to know why the ethical options in Dark VS Light show no understanding of human morality and conscience? Case in Point: The Black Talon, You get to the end of this Flash Point and finally can capture the General. He is severely wounded, surrenders to you, and whines about how he wouldn't make it anyways because he is bleeding internally. Your options are Light (Take Alive) or Dark (Kill Here). Taken Alive: First, we are Sith. The Empire is known the galaxies over to be evil and cruel. To utilize torture for not only interrogation, but entertainment as well. We conduct inhumane experiments on unwilling sentient subjects, and we conduct terrorist attacks and sadistic raids upon innocent bystandards sacrificing everyone in our way to power. How in all the galaxies is Taking Him Alive a GOOD THING!? Were I in that position knowing as I do that my superiors will keep him alive only to torture him my conscience might get the better of me and urge me to kill him mercifully or help him escape if I thought I could cover it up. Especially considering we are basically pressganged into serving that Moff after the Captain refuses. Kill Here: He is already dying and weak. You know the Empire is going to torture him for information and for the simple thrill the inquisitor will get in hearing him screaming or suffering. You could argue that all death even little ones taint the soul and thus his here would do such, and I agree. However, you can make similar arguments that knowing his fate and being unable to save him from the Empire yourself this act is merciful and thus not incure the wrath of the Dark Side. I have noticed many times in many places the options of Light VS Dark have similar questionable positions offered. Or more insulting the Dark Side options are limited to Kill Smash Die while the Light Side options show a capability of intelligence, altruism, and compassion. I would like to argue with you on these Light VS Dark options. Consider the Saga of the Rise, Fall, and Redemption of Anakin Skywalker. Until he truly falls to the Dark Side he is not shown as a murderous bully, but we all know he is heading there long before he finds his mother dead. I hope in the future later offered options of Light VS Dark show the creation of morality in the characters. I for one am stuck in Neutral because while I want to be Dark, I am not able to argue to myself from a character development standpoint in a game that offers the premise of Role Playing that my character can just butcher everyone and everything in her path to power while maintaining in her mind an argument that the act she takes is best for the Empire.
