  1. Cause WoW lets them do it, so they think it's fine here too, of course. I don't know how much it gimps the damage dealers, but tanks just drop like a rock, that's for sure.
  2. Just do the dailies he talked about. You can get a 50 epic mod, armoring and enhancement every day if you do the heroic daily quests on Ilum and Belsavis and can buy hilts/barrels/etc with the commendations pretty quickly. This way you're not rocking PvP stats while trying to do PvE stuff. As a healer, I HATE when I get tanks decked in PvP gear. Just cause it's higher level gear, doesn't mean it helps you survive.
  3. Sorry, but you have no sense of Priority.... Is this something that needs to be fixed? Of course. First? Of course not! There are bugs keeping people from being able to play the game properly, sometimes at all. Don't you think those take precedence over end level loot? Personally, I'll happily see the loot go to the wrong guy if it means they fixed the issues that were keeping me from playing first. We'll see your issue fixed, and soon I'm sure, but there's no need for the over dramatic sense of urgency. Edit: and to be clear I'm not biased: I have no performance or play issues. But there are enough complaints about it that those issues will come first.
  4. The quests I got were probably just lead-ins and I would bet you can do them before the Class quest, if you're able to do Belsavis without completing them. Would be a little odd to have Ilum require completed class quests and Belsavis not.
  5. If you finished your class quests it should have asked you to travel to the fleet, there you get 2 quests, one to go to Ilum and the other is the Belsavis Bonus series (which leads into the dailies there) Edit: The Belsavis one comes from one of the Quest Drop Box like things, and I think Malgus gives you the Ilum one through a droid if I remember right, someone correct me if I'm wrong.
  6. Pretty sad... This doesn't affect you in one single way and you're mad about a bug fix? As people said, patch notes even said so. BUG fix, not nerf. Never was intended to enrage and most people probably never noticed he could. Even if it WAS a nerf, what makes you so high and mighty to decide what is fair for a LEVELING FP that is mid range? Calm down, get a drink, and try to enjoy something. Anything!
  7. Seconded. Understandably this will be low priority when compared with bug/stability fixes but a search bar that doesn't require drilling down every category would be appreciated. I'm sure Auction fanatics will want more but as a first step this sounds like the best option.
  8. Personally I hope for built in functionality of these things, as I despised the addon update game with each patch. However, I would wager that many folks asking for UI changes will want addons over built in just for the larger pool of customizations to pull from. Another item I haven't see much about but would kill for is a change to targeting in general ie, let me click a health bar to select someone. I watched and let someone die the other day because I was trying to target them for a heal but couldn't get past their Khem Val (Biggest NPC hitbox in the game award!)
  9. Even with it helping to counter my point, I have to agree with you here. Sorry Sneen. My statement came from my experience and belief which I have no way of putting into physical evidence and no accurate evidence will exist upon this for either side until someone figures out a way to take a truly accurate survey on 10 million people (or until Blizzard takes a note of every client accessing with 3rd party addons. Even if they are able to, I would think they are unlikely to as it serves them little purpose for a great deal of effort)
  10. There are plenty out there that will try to help tell you what skill to use next, just not activate it for you. I see countless PowerAura's setups that people export and share for this exact use, so the player never learns the mechanics behind their rotation, they just follow the flashing icons like a "complicated" game of Simon. I love PowerAuras, just giving an example.
  11. Even tanking seems much easier to manage with Powertechs and their republic ilk with spread out groups much easier to keep aggro for them. Every Juggy I heal looks like a crazed chicken running all over the place to get the mobs. We were supposed to play what we enjoy? Woops... /reroll Jawa
  12. I was just turning things around to show that neither side can prove it one way or the other. Therefor, the argument was tossed. Addons are not required to raid, in my option, but guilds will require them for raiding if the functionality comes out. This feels like to me that we are saying "Give us addons, you don't have to use them! Oh to join with us you need these addons... Have fun with whatever it is you do!" Also for the "level" of addon API's allowed, I guess we would have to see what TOR allows. Exploiting those APIs would never be a game breaker either, I apologize if it came across that I felt that way, just that it is likely something we need be aware of regardless how constrictive the API's end up being. Just remember that someone will find a way to break it, they always do. Then it will be fixed, such is the way of things. I absolutely agree that it is more the status of BW development that is the lack of these features than our arguments about them. As an earlier poster put up, Curse has over 4,700 addons available. That is one huge giant for BW to bring on board. Also a very good point that if the content is easy enough to carry bad people without noticing, people will get bored. Some level of this content is needed for those people that just want to play and have some mindless fun, so long as there is plenty above it for everyone else. I mostly feel that the addition of addons will not help these people at all to better their play style.
  13. How have I attacked all forum goers? You have done a great job arguing your point and putting forth information to back it. The fact that I disagree with the numbers has nothing to do with you doing it intelligently and to a point. I said "many forum goers cannot complete a sentence" which is brought from seeing too many posts with just that. Many posts are a string of words and the phrases "*** wall of text" and "TL;DR" often meet those posts that are complete and thought out. A reply of too long, didn't read is not using one's brain. You sir, have used yours.
  14. Alright. #1: Already stated I don't have hard proof, but I want you to prove to me that +5million WoW players use addons. I still believe in my first point but we'll follow court rules and say the point is tossed due to lack of proof. Lets look at the others, shall we? #2: Fallacy? Raiding guilds all require at least a DBM equivilent, some require more. Allowing addons to TOR will bring similar functions and the same results. Saying players don't have to use addons then requiring them to raid is an invalid argument. (I'm not saying its better for the raiding community. I'm saying the argument itself is invalid) #3: Check the MANY posts on these forums from people stating the exact thing that a lack of DPS meters and the like will keep bad players hidden and able to stay bad. People are making the argument.
  15. Gotcha. And that's all I'm really going for, is avoiding a blind view that so many pro-addon threads are taking, despite the couple people going after me like I'm against addons. /shrug. Forums will be forums.
  16. This is very true, but the argument that "You don't have to use them" is wrong. If added, they are required. This is not a bad thing, as I'd love enrage timers for the heroic bosses and some things like that, but we can't say that using addons is completely optional if added when parts of the game will require them.
  17. It's true that BW will be able to try to limit what is available to the addon devs, but if you've watched the history of WoW addons, there are still always addons that provide more than was intended and a change had to be made to break the addon. These are few compared to the total, but I just think BW is not ready to deal with these types of issues yet and they have to be included when considering allowing addons. Huh? Read my post, then reply. I never countered against addons, even said I would use them. I advocated informed arguments. Next.
  18. FIRST: This is not advocating that TOR continue to deny addons. This comes from seeing the MANY posts for addons and getting frustrated at the posters for how they ask for something. #1: Keep in mind that the majority of players will never use addons. Even in WoW, more players just log on and play without a single addon than those that use them. #2: To the "Then don't use them crowd": There are two things wrong with this argument, though it sounds good in theory. First, is that if addons are added, they will become required for raiding. This is because they're useful and end up helping. No problem there in my mind, just remember this when saying that not everyone has to use them. Second, most folks cite a few core addon needs but forget that if BW allows 3rd party addons, then all shapes and sizes of addons will come in. Many of which I'd bet BW is currently unprepared to deal with. People WILL try to exploit/bot/etc with addons if enabled. They exploit without them too, but its just something that will happen in MMO's. That crowd is very few people compared to the player base but I bring this up because this is something BW will be concerned with. #3: "A lack of addons will help the bad players stay bad." Some addons can help so much in improving game play (I miss power auras) but my main issue with this argument returns to #1 in a way. Most the rather bad people are going to stay bad and never try to improve and along the same lines, most people concerned with improving will find ways to test it without addons if they have to. The addons are probably the most accurate way to cover this but it will not do anything for those that already don't care about getting told they're fail. My request here? Look into your argument more when you make it. I use addons in WoW, I would use them if they come to TOR, but be a little more open than just screaming for them and screaming at anyone against you. Maybe there is a compromise that players can make with BW? Maybe we can get them to implement the core things we want into their UI, and continue to improve upon that as time goes on. Of course, this is all a pipe dream as many forum goers are lucky to complete a sentence correctly, but I will continue to dream because this fantasy land of people using their brains to achieve something is a very shiny place.
  19. Really?! What world do you live in? They clearly DID have people working through the holidays but not a full staff and know what? I would never want to support a company the required their full staffing through the holidays, nor would a company like that work to give us a great game. You are being so incredibly short sighted here. Two Weeks. That's how far into launch we are. All of us have ZERO idea what is going on behind the scenes so don't even pretend to know that they are never going to fix issue X. You don't know what it takes to fix that issue and I would bet that some of these require a little more work than a single week of patching/trouble shooting. The Shadows issue doesn't happen to everyone and intermittent issues are the hardest type to fix (I run on high, with shadows, and no problems). Want an example? The resource nodes that are not clickable. First patch said it fixed it, which is didn't, but know what? It's a lot better and I would bet every credit I have it will keep getting better and in a couple months we'll forget that it was ever an issue. Well, I will. You'll still be on the forums flaming whichever company is unfortunate enough to be hosting your game instead of enjoying a great gaming experience. For a launch this game has been incredibly smooth but too many privileged yahoo's think that it should come out the gate polished like its been going for 5+ years. It's working well enough that people are able to raid out the gate, not many MMO's can claim that. My final words: I was in Beta. I saw the bugs then. I see the bugs now. I still love this game. Deal with it.
  20. Anyone taking the Forum status to be state of game is going to be misguided, in a huge way. The happy people are all engrossed in their stories and enjoying the game (Or stuck at work and trolling the forum like myself). Angry forum goers from all over have flocked here to rant and rage that their one desire is a game breaker and ignore that TOR took the record for largest MMO release. Bioware has over 1 million people playing their game, and I would expect less than 1% of them are here on the forums. They have done fine and will profit from this game despite the folks that cannot see beyond today.
  21. Really?.... REALLY?! How privileged are you folks? They chose 8 hours, during the middle of the night and that is too much, on the second week after launch?! Stop and think before deciding that your minor inconvenience is a major problem.
