  1. I'm glad the premium lockboxes aren't giving the intended number of credits and will be fixed, but I'm most disappointed in the increased drop rate of missions. Unfortunately increasing the drop rate does not simply equal more profit, and the prices of these missions on the GTN have plummeted on my server. Pre-patch an Underworld Trading mission would sell for 40k quickly, and now they're often not selling at 14k. The thing with those missions is that there is a fixed demand (people only need so many mats from them) so flooding the market is messing with the crafting economy. It seems like missions are no longer going to be premium items at all, which sort of defeats the whole purpose. I think that Bioware needs to be careful and make sure that Slicing stays lucrative. It should make more money than the other professions because it stands alone and requires that the player sacrifice a more useful skill. Currently I make far more money from selling Bioanalysis mats, and i'm only keeping Slicing because I'm hoping that it will continue to be re-balanced over the next few months.
  2. It's been said, but I really don't think that the buff is needed to discover the right spot (much like the water buff isn't needed to find the incubation spot for the egg). If someone already accidentally found the baby tauntaun (as hinted) that person wouldn't have had a jerky buff. Have people been trying to use emotes at all? It occurred to me that whenever I deal with a frightened animal, I always crouch, kneel, etc, or that animal won't approach. I think human corpses are more likely to lead us somewhere than tauntaun corpses, and that a wampa will be close by. I've also been almost knocked to the top of the mountain by the Highmont Ridge wampa, but I purposely avoided it so he wouldn't reset (might be worth trying to get to the very top on purpose). I know it's not a very high pop server, but can anyone on The Maw make the jerky? If so, please PM me or post; I'd really like to be able to try some things myself!
  3. Assuming that the person who saw the mini tauntaun was being truthful, that person wasn't actually looking for it, which means that he probably didn't have the jerky or the jerky buff when he found it. That would indicate to me that the baby is either rare and on a path, or that it is summonable by some sequence of events. This in turn leads me to think about the HIghmount Ridge Wampa some more. Other than the ice ferns, is it the only significant thing that has been added to Hoth in 1.2? Surely there must be a reason. If the wampa is not directly involved, maybe it's just intended to show us that such summons exist? I know that all of this has been considered before, but it seems like we're at a point where we're wondering what needs to be reconsidered the most. It seems like we're close, which means we probably don't need to reinvent the wheel just yet.
  4. I also noticed on torhead that there are entries for firefrost tauntaun matriarch, firefrost tauntaun bull, firefrost tauntaun grazer, and firefrost tauntaun snowpad. I'm guessing those are old entries and that those mobs don't actually exist, but it's also possible that they're summoned when you try to capture the baby or something. "Firefrost" though is quite an odd descriptor...the only place that comes to mind is those little volcanoes in the glacial fissure.
  5. The tauntaun corpses have all been tried numerous times, but is it possible we've been looking for the wrong kind of dead body? Is bioware maybe making a star wars joke, and there's a little taunling keeping warm in a human corpse somewhere? Sorry for the gross suggestion, but I'm grasping at straws now :S
  6. Could someone clarify where you get the "attacked" buff on imperial side? I've sound some crashed ships, etc, but nothing clickable. Edit: nm! I just saw the great guide by Almar. Hopefully someone will post a picture of the character customization soon. I wonder if they're BoP?
  7. It seems that after your first explosion, you no longer get 5 DNA anymore. Can anyone else confirm?
  8. When you explode, can you infect others? I know that you can't infect others just when you're doubled over and oozing goo.
  9. If you're infected and try to go to your ship, a droid will scan you and contamination officers will attack. They're easy to kill though, so off I go to spread the plague!
  10. I would be worried about using your last piece of jerky; I feel like you should always have an extra piece in your inventory since we haven't confirmed that it's the buff that we actually need. The buff may just exist so that the jerky has an additional purpose (other than getting us tauntauns). The jerky could possibly be like the egg, and when you get to the right spot, something starts happening. Maybe I'm an optimist, but it seems like the devs would've given us a hint by now if we weren't on the right track. Or maybe they're just enjoying watching us suffer ^^
  11. It's probably been mentioned, but I don't see it in the first post, so I will add that there is a third dead tauntaun in the White Maw area around 1980, -1046 (Glacial Fissure, Terror Brigade Compound). I know there were a couple Ilum mini tauntauns on the test server, but some people suspect they were just bugs. Once I'm lvl 50 I'll definitely be checking out Ilum anyways though.
  12. If they're the ones I'm thinking, I believe they're elite mobs (gold star) and not champions (gold/silver). I'll try to get coordinates later today.
  13. Is it possible that all the tauntauns on Hoth are false leads? We know that creatures in this game are "summonable" (like the wampa on the mountain) so maybe we need to look places with no tauntaun at all (where perhaps a baby has been abandoned). Based on the NVSCCS, a spaceport makes the most sense. Perhaps inside one, in some unlikely place? Patience may also be key, and it's probably a good idea to keep panning your camera to see if anything is running up slowly from a long ways away. I assume that most of you are running around with the buff as well as jerky in your inventory? It's hard to know which is required of us.
  14. I spent all day on Hoth and still haven't had any liver dropped. I killed that mountain top wampa 8 times, every Stalker I saw, tons of other wampas (regular through elite) and every elite or champion mob I came across. I also killed hundreds of pirates (White Maw as well as the ones in the heroic area south of the fissure) and although I ended up with a few orange and blue items...no liver! The drop rate is either terrible, or I am very unlucky.
  15. There are also White Maw pirates and Brig Stomper Pirates (in a heroic area by Snowblind). I don't know which ones yield the liver though
