Woot! You're an amazing writer.
.
Thank you. I'm actually making the transition into being a novelist. I've even considered starting 'fan fic' stories to just post so that I can keep practicing. I find it interesting to look at a world and see where the original writer may have not been so thorough in their creation.

I decided to rebut all those guys who keep saying how 'gays don't exist in Star Wars'....
Well, neither do women. Or at least, there's not a lot of women:
http://lezgetreal.com/2012/12/rebutting-the-argument-against-same-gender-romance-in-star-wars-tor/
I'm going to keep writing about my experiences with this. Some are going to be like that, but others are probably not going to be quite so nice.
-
Well, if you'd look out my window right now.... fog and icy cold rain. The actual end of the world couldn't be worse.
I was disappointed that it wasn't the end of the world. I'm in a lot of pain right now.
I just keep wondering one thing....why do they think that writing romances for same-gender couples is harder or more delicate than writing them for opposite-gender couples. That seems to swirl around a lot of the excuses for why we haven't seen them yet.
-
Opps...the replies just showed up Same basic thing, though.
-
Nicely done !
Thank you very much.

Yes, Se7en reference! I love that movie. I love anything by David FIncher really.
On a related note, that dude is a bigot and he'll likely be removed by the morning.
Yeah, but that's why I didn't quote him
And yes, occasionally I make references to Se7en.
And on a totally different note. I'm in a lot of pain right now, so I do not think that I will be posting again for a bit. I'm probably not going to be totally coherent or at least not sounding curt.
-
... Please never use that word again. Think of the children.
I know you're joking, kind of, but that really is what the thing is called.
-
First, great blog Joshi!
Thank you. I will continue to build the pressure through my blog until we have an answer.
-
Lol, it sure sounds like it's better for them to respond.
I would not want to have your wrath upon me.
Believe it or not, I'm actually a very gentle person. I even have a very hard time going Dark Side even though I'm usually playing Empire. Of course, when I'm angry, I do tend to get very angry.
-
Generally you won't know unless they have an automated email reply system or a secretary who acts like one.
True. They may not even respond at all, which would be sad because then I will have to write another nasty article and I don't like doing that.

It's gone out to Berryman, Gonzalez, Woods, and Green.
So far, not even acknowledgement that they received it.
-
Well, I sent it to Ms Barryman. If I don't hear soon, I'll start sending it out to a few more people to see if one of them will answer.
And thank you very much, Fab
-
Well, I've started in on the articles:
http://lezgetreal.com/2012/12/the-same-gender-romance-debacle-at-star-wars-the-old-republic/
Wonder if I should send this to Barryman, Woods and Green...see how they react then since I haven't heard anything form them about SGRA's.
-
I wasn't offended. Sometimes I can come across as a bit curt. I'll snag the podcast for my site for tomorrow. I'm in a lot of pain right now, so I'm not writing quite so coherently. Plus....some things in my TOR guild have made me a bit uncomfortable lately to the point of wanting to find another, more LGBT friendly guild even if it means changing servers and starting all over again.
Oh, and I did start my own thread...they merged it with another thread.
-
natashina,
Two things...one, my only problem with what they said was the idea that this couldn't have been redressed faster. I'm a writer. Yeah, a novel takes ages to write, but this could probably have been done in six months.
Second, GLAAD isn't the only one paying attention. Yeah, the holidays are here and things are kind of slow and quiet.
But come the new year, the LGBT Blogosphere may be a bit less than forgiving at this point.
-
Oh, I had assumed that. I must not have worded myself well. I was just saying as a related tangent that I wish I could have had essentially an abusive relationship with him, with my chaotic evil Sith Warrior.
Ah, ok. I get you
-
Nozybidaj,
Very true, and now the question is, do they really want GLAAD on their case, or worse, the LGBTQ Blogosphere? That could be about to happen depending on answers that have been asked for.
Because, honestly, I'm tired of waiting without anyone saying it will happen and specifically when.
-
coruscantdweller,
For some of us, they could ask us to remain quite. Honestly, we're fed up with this, and just telling us would be better. Thing is, groups like One Million Moms and The American Family Association will make their lives hell anyway. Unfortunately for BioWare, I'm to the point where I am just ready to walk away...but I'm not going quietly. I'm not just some random LGBTQA player....I have a rather strong voice and I wonder how BioWare would like an all out fight from the LGBTQA blogosphere at this point.
BioWare has done a great job with LGB Inclusiveness. Unfortunately, when you pride yourself on being inclusive and then fail, even the slightest failure is enough to tarnish your reputation.

*points to sig* I guess I'm digging the cuties. The option to fire and hire crew members, especially when SGRAs are coming, would be the second point on my priority list, most definitely.
C'mon, many of them are mercenaries anyway.... Or could be. It would even make sense.
Definitely. I'd love to fire certain ones and hire others

Yuk. Alright, i'm not gonna be into Quinn then.
Well, it's up to you, you know
I tried romancing Quinn, but got so uncomfortable I stopped.
-
Well, keeping with the spirit of this thread starting to think it's about time Bioware/EA lets us know if this expansion is going to have the sgra content or not, have quite a few people on the fence in regards to purchasing this thing because they think your trying to trojan horse this content in..
Well, I've made it clear...if it isn't in the expansion I've got better places to spend my money.
-
Interestingly, for me it's almost the other way round. I find some of the female companions annoying and childish and never really like to have them in my crew. Have virtually never taken Nadia out of her shiny little box but instead have taken Iresso and Theran. Theran ended up annoying me too. I guess it's down to individual tastes and personal interests, things we can connect with, that we really need to see a whole variety of chars and possibilities in the game, not just mainstream choices off the conveyor belt.
I tend to like Ensign Temple or SCORPIO the most, but I also enjoy Kaliyo. It really is up to individual tastes. With Quinn, I think part of it had to do with the fact that he seemed like a worm from the get go.
-
<nods> Gotcha. And it seems such a simple thing for them to baulk over. Hot-button or not, Bioware (as a whole) has a history of saying to the entitled heteronormative crowd, 'No, stuff it, we're putting it in because more options to include more people is just BETTER, yo,' and when it comes right down to the core of it there's no good reason Bioware: Austin can't do the same.
Edmonton gets it, and whether people have issues with the way they've implemented such things isn't as important a point as that they've taken steps to be inclusive. Austin needs to step up to the plate, and they need to throw this weird and pointless gag order in the bin.
So far, no one has really made an issue about this, but it can be made into a major issue if someone wants to, and that could hurt BioWare, EA Games, and Lucas Film.

The Sims is a (former) Maxis and (current) The Sims Studio game series.
Yes, but EA Games is also the guys who distribute TOR, and LGB inclusion in The Sims started back with The Sims 1: Hot Date.
Same gender relationships clarifications?

Or they just hire Billy West.
For those who don't know who he is, he is Philip J. Fry, Hubert Farnsworth, John Zoidberg and Zapp Brannigan (to name a few) on Futurama
But, yeah, they really could do this for the expansion. I hope they have, but I really don't want to buy it until I know.
