  1. Thirded. All of this. Also, QFE, because these points perfectly sum up the issues:

A top performing spec can lose connection for 1/4 of a fight and still have done more damage than a Mercenary DPS.

    &

I find it extraordinary that a class with 5 proper AOE abilities available to all specs is not good at AOE with them and 7.1 plans to grant another mediocre AOE to Arsenal.

  2. HUGE bummer there won't be a Cantina event for the 10th anniversary so we can all celebrate together!!

That being said, I'll take what I can get. If that means sharing a booth with Galaxy of Heroes and bugging Charles at a panel, so be it! The signed poster sounds intriguing though, can't wait to hear more about that.

No Musco or Keith listed in this post...... I'm going to be really sad if I don't get Musco Musings© at Celebration!

  3. Data: Leveled a Bounty Hunter: Mercenary>Arsenal from 1 to 80, through all 3 chapters, Makeb, Shadow of Revan, KOTET, KOTFE, Ossus, & Onslaught. Had a Powertech as my 2nd combat choice, but couldn't easily figure out how to switch, so I didn't pursue it any further. This review pertains to PVE only.

    • How does this experience compare to live?

Overall, the TTK for all PVE enemies is considerably longer on PTS. I understand that I'm doing this in subpar gear, but I'm very familiar with arsenal merc rotation, so I feel this balances a bit. Champion mobs seem to take a REALLY long time to kill. Damage output of mobs seems OK. Makeb is the only exception here. Makeb in its entirety is very easy. Enemies across the board melted like a lvl 80 killing mobs on Hutta.

    • Do you feel too strong or too weak? Please explain why.

I feel very weak. My companion, at any level, would deal considerably more damage than I would, which is not a good feeling. I understand maxing out gear will help, but I was running full 322 w/ 2 326 set bonus implants, and some champions in Heroics STILL took a long time to kill. Again, damage output of mobs feels ok, but my output is underwhelming.

    • Do you notice anything off with your stats?

    2 things.

    1. Not getting any meaningful abilities until level 23 makes 1-23 feel mindnumbingly simple. It's literally missile blasts and rapid shots until 19, when death from above comes in, but still nothing until 23. We do get rail shot at 15, but that brings up point #2....

    2. Arsenal Merc has nothing to proc Rail Shot until 23, making it unusable for 8 levels. To use Rail Shot, the enemy needs to be incapacitated or have periodic damage. The only thing Arsenal Merc has prior to 23 is missile blast for a knockdown, but half the time the enemy resists the KD or there isn't enough time to proc Rail Shot, so it most sits unused until level 23 tracer missile, which can apply the heat signature for use.

    Hope this helps!

  4. Hi everyone,

I wanted to take a moment to address some points/thoughts I believe will be made in response to Chris' post, so I hope you'll allow me to have a more heart to heart moment with you all. I recognize how late this post is being made and what day it's being made on. This is not an attempt to bury information or hope that no one will notice it. We were working on reading the various posts about this topic, taking in the feedback, and making sure that the message was concise and clear. I recommended the post be made today rather than let the weekend pass because we felt this clarification would be beneficial to players reading it.

I know how passionate this player base is because you all love this game very much. And I know that difference of opinion tends to happen as does debate, especially on these forums. I just ask that you continue to be civil with one another and also with us and be mindful of the guidelines of these forums. Thank you.

    Best,

    Jackie

And this is why you're the best Jackie! SO MUCH BETTER getting this info on a Friday than on a Monday.

Also proves you all work to the bitter end of the work week like the rest of us plebs. heehee

    Thanks Jackie & Chris!!!!

  5. I just want to make sure I understand the max. new gear ratings correctly:

326: Can hit this number doing anything in game, excluding MM sub-80 OPs and 80 OP.

    328: SM 80 OP.

    330: MM sub-80 OPs & VM 80 OP.

    332, 334: VM 80 OP only.

Also, the ONLY way we can get moddable gear is if we can clear VM 80 OP? So no more min/maxing for anyone that can't clear the hardest content in game?

  6. Jackie......

If you manage to get this year long cheevo fixed, you are OFFICIALLY a miracle worker. Jackie 'The Fixer' Ko. Champagne will fall from the heavens, velvet ropes would part.

    Thanks in advance:)

    Hi everyone,

Small update. The team took a deeper dive into how the two challenges were being chosen. In short, the RNG mechanic is not behaving as it should. The team is currently working on a fix, but to ensure that the fix is thoroughly tested and functioning properly, it will not be implemented until early next week though we are trying to target Monday.

As it is Friday, I wanted to let you all know to expect Ultimate Galactic Sampler to pop up throughout the weekend. I'll have more to share when the fix is deployed and will update this thread accordingly.

    Jackie

  7. Hi folks,

I wanted to pop in here and clarify a few things that have been brought up.

First and foremost, the official forums (where you are now) are the official platform for news and announcements, and are accessible to all subscribers.

Second, it is true I am present in many Discord communities. I do so primarily so I can get a feel for what these different communities are chatting about in an effort to gather as many points of view as possible. I do this in tandem with other platforms where players self-organize that I’m aware of.

I do these things in my personal capacity, however if I interact at all I make it clear who I am in my official capacity for transparency. Since Discord seems to be the primary platform brought up here, I want to address some points..

I started joining Discord communities related to the game when I returned to the team over a year ago. Discord is interesting in that it provides real-time communication via text chat, which is vastly different than the turn-based dialogue offered by forums. I use Discord interactions in several ways:

    • General human chatting
    • Discussing hobbies
    • Gathering additional info on reported bugs or exploits
    • Guiding folks to official channels who ask where/how to report something
    • Guiding folks to official channels when asked about any information that’s unannounced (dates/future plans, etc)
    • Discussing game design in general

When discussing longer-term plans or philosophies, I use the official forums. And I refer folks back to these posts if it comes up in other communication channels. Generally, I very much enjoy spending some of my personal time on Discord as long as the interactions are healthy. As a reminder, these servers are player-run and non-official, so the rules of each community are determined by those who own the servers.

Hopefully this sheds some light on how I interact with various communities in various capacities. But it’s worth re-stating again that official information will only come from official sources, including the forums here.

    Thanks,

    -Chris

This is fantastic news, Chris. I feel like this is really next-level game development; instead of solely relying on turn based responses and bug fixes, a dev can bypass the CSR system and go straight to sources and talk real-time: This seems like the future of ongoing development really. As much as typed conversations can benefit, nothing really replaces a real-time discussion.

Kudos to you Chris for thinking outside the box. I hope you're commended internally for taking that next step in deciphering the masses!

  8. Hi all - we really appreciate the discussion! I wanted to let you know we're going to take a look at Reputation rewards for Grade 5 and below missions for a future update.

    Thanks!

    -Chris

    :csw_jabbapet:

Chris, Jackie: from the bottom of my heart, I can't thank you enough for this. I got a bit misty even reading it. 200 days of time played on my character, roughly 8 years of only one Tirsa missing from the 'Gearhead' title achievement, and I finally can see the light.

From a real life gearhead to you & Jackie that cannot, for the life of them, get a hold on flight gaming..... I thank you. <3

  9. JackieKo, this is the wrong location for this thread, as it's PVE space missions, not GSF. I know PVE space missions have been forgotten since 2012, but they don't belong here.

Also, +1 to what Deadbladey said below!!!!! Currently, only the Heroic space missions award reputation. It would be fanastic if ALL space missions awarded reputation (even green ones). There are many more of us out here that can't pass the heroic PVE space missions, and it's the ONLY way to get the reputation now. It's a major problem.

Hi Jackie thanks for the response just wondering is there gonna be any changes made to dailies so we can get reputation from all of them?
  10. During the new AMAZING story, Echoes of Oblivion, I encountered two bugs that happened during the opening cinematics, and closing cinematics.

    1. Opening cinematics: While watching/listening to the story, I kept hearing the elevator in the Odessen hallway activate by players using it. It was really distracting, and hard to hear the amazing voicework because of it.

    2. Closing cinematics: During the final fight, the area is sporadically shacking. When the fight ends and the closing cinematics begin, the camera shaking persists throughout the entire closing cinematic. Again, very distracting.

  11. This was the very first thing I wanted to test on the PTS, so sad Bioware could not get the PTS ready in time for the weekend. I especially wanted to test this with the Power Overrides Utility, which gives Power Surge an extra charge. Meaning potentially up to four abilities with no cooldown. But I cannot imagine that Bioware would knowingly allow mercs to start using Blazing Bolts four/five times in a row.

Even if it is just abilities with cast time, though, this could potentially still mean up to four Concussion Missiles with zero activation time and zero heat (Heat Damping Utility) with maybe a fifth normal Concussion Missile waiting to be used. And this could happen every 38.3 seconds (on Live 16% alacrity and Power Overrides Utility reduces the cooldown on both Power Surge and Concussion Missile to 38.3). I can't see Bioware knowingly this either - the salty tears of PVPers would turn Ossus into Waterworld.

So, in short, no matter how we use it in PTS I think the fun will be short-lived as I can in no way foresee this Power Surge thing making it to Live as currently presented - I expect both the Utility and the Tactical to be reworked.

As always, just my two cents.

Yup, pretty much exactly nailed it here.

  12. xXSistros, mrwayan, I DO see where you're coming from though: Since the current PS charges only get used/triggered by casted abilities, that this would continue to be the case with Power Cycle, only adding the cooldown drop to the casted abilities. What I'm anticipating is that the CD effect would also trigger the PS charge, like the cast does. The reason I think that is the way they worded the Power Cycle, "when you use an ability with power surge". That reads to me ANY ability. If they said something like "when an ability uses a power charge", that would be a different story. Hope that makes sense.

I might be completely wrong. I guess we'll know next week. That being said, if it IS only on the casted items, then yep, pretty much only good for 3x concussion missile in PVP. PVE would mean only FM are Tracer, and at a 40s CD for PS, that won't be worth it.

  13. Am i getting you right, Randor, you say that this tactical can reset the CD of ANY ability if it is used with Power Surge?

I bet that is not the case, it works only on casts, meaning on Abilities affected by the original effect of Power Surge.

Otherwise, Mercs would be OP as **** in PvE and even more in PvE. Poor players could eat 3 Heatseekers in a row...

If this tactical grants this, Merc will be broken

That’s how it reads to me. Let’s read it once again:

Power Cycle - When you use an ability with Power Surge, that ability is not put on cooldown

Now PS currently only affects cast times. This tactical refers to the “ability” being used with PS will get the CD reset. If PS is 1 or 3 charges, it doesn’t matter because it applies to every single one. That’s how I read it.

And I would agree that would be OP.... except for the fact that there’s no heat mitigation here, so the first rip of 3 abilities would overheat you, or push you into the 40+ range and you would have to rapid shots to bring it back.
