  1. No, only Nar Shaddaa's GTN is just "global." I can, for instance, see items i put on the GTN in Coruscant while I am on the Fleet. If you're a WoW player, present or past, you'd probably understand it because it has the same principle there for the Auction Houses.

     

    Horde (Imperial( have their own AH (GTN) for Horde (Imperial) Cities.

    Alliance (Republic) has their own AH (GTN) for Alliance (Republic) Cities.

    Neutral (Hutt Cartel) has their own AH (GTN) for both Alliance (Republic) and Horde (Imperial).

     

    This is the same for SWtOR, just replace Horde with Imperial, Alliance with Republic, and Neutral with Hutt Cartel. The Neutral Planet is Nar Shaddaa.

     

    Ugh.. did you really just equate the Republic to the Alliance in WoW? As a Jedi, I suddenly feel dirty... :(

     

    Otherwise, good call on the listed info - not arguing the mechanics as you've obviously gotten them right. Just couldn't resist commenting on that other bit.. lol

  2. So I asked this as I got to Ilum but from what i've seen stuff is moving too fast to stop and help someone with new questions - so I went there before I finished the story mode and there was nothing to do.

     

    I beat the story mode and then on the rep fleet some guy gave me a quest out there, so basically this is a 2-part question.

     

    1. Can you only start doing Ilum after you bear the story?

     

    2. A friend of mine gave me the daily and weekly for armaments? Is anyone willing to basically tell me what these are, do you kill the PvE enemies and they drop or do you get them from overtaking a base? Also, does killing a real player give you some sort of valor?

    I only just started getting into Ilum myself this week, so bear with me here.

     

    The Daiy/Weekly became available to me once I had completed my main class story; not when I hit 50, as I had been 50 for almost a week before finally doing my last class mission.

     

    The kills/armaments quests are for PvP from what I understand. I believe that you kill other players to earn the kills for the quest, and the armaments I believe are crates/objects of some sort that are to be looted. I have heard there is PvE stuff in places as well, but I haven't gotten a chance to really explore yet.

     

    Killing players on Ilum is supposed to earn you valor, as well as credit toward your dailies/weeklies .. although from I understand, the patch today kinda introduced a rather nasty bug that is mucking up credit for both on Ilum.

    Consular tends to be among to the most consistent with folks not being terribly impressed stroywise (didn't care for it myself) but I have read more then a few (granted the number is probably sub 20%) posts from people ho thoroughly enjoyed it.

     

     

    I would say pick the class you want based on playstyle, thn give it a terst drive at minimum until about 12-13ish (i.e. finish the starting planet and do a level's worth of questing on the second planet to get a feel both for the mechanics and he story).

     

     

    At that point you will have a good lock on if the class in general is grabbing you, or if you feel like trying a couple more to find one that sticks.

    As someone with a lvl 50 Sentinel and a lvl 42 Shadow, I can say - for myself, at least - that the Jedi Knight story was far, far more epic. I still enjoy the Consular story so far, just not as much. Like wise, I've read full spoilers on the Warrior/Inquisitor stories (as I never plan to actually play Empire) and I'm not impressed; I'm sure it's appealing to some, but not me.

     

    All that aside, another important thing to remember is this: all the class stories in the game sync up together in such a way that they all end up telling one continuous story from different points of view. Without dropping any spoilers, for example, the Consular's actions in their class quest are largely what makes the Jedi Knight able to go in and do their thing; you never actually cross paths with them of course, as this is purely from a lore perspective, but still a rather nice effect when all is said and done.

  4. Yes since you only use 2 of those and one is Endurance, Second is what for the duration of the discussion call "primary attribute".

     

    In Raid buffs in Tionese or Columni sets you have around 1500-1600 of your Primary Atribute so... thats what? 2 % of your stats, that does not directly go into being 2% of your healing or damage or survivability, its just a part of other stats so yes, it is a gimmick.

     

    I really don't get this continued logic, "Strength directly increases my DPS as a Shadow, but it's just a gimmick .. I don't need it!" For real? I use Strength as an example because I play a Shadow myself. Sure, Willpower is most definitely my main stat but I obviously have no problem stacking the hell out of it through gear, my 'saber, datacrons, trinkets, etc. Still. Kinda funny how that +40 Strength still adds a nice little chunk to my DPS though, isn't it? Oh wait.. I forgot, that's supposed to be one of those "useless" stats for me isn't it?

     

    Again, I completely understand people not wanting to spend time collecting them but stop trying to say they're useless or just some kind of gimmick. If you can't understand how the extra stat boosts are beneficial to an end-game raider, then your brain is broken. You can be the best player in the world - those 40 pts won't make you any less great, they'll just give you that much more of an edge. Really says a lot about a person, when their only reason for demeaning something is that it simply isn't worth their precious time. That's like saying money isn't important because you're too lazy to get off your *** and find a job.

  5. Lol, not really. A minor improvement in base stats never made or broken anything, much less in pvp.

     

    Datacrons are a gimmick and nothing else, same as achievements.

     

    Uhm.. the very last datacron is +10 to ALL stats. Regular datacrons are +2, +3, +4, +6, etc as you get higher up and there are 4 stat datacrons per planet. I won't dispute your choice to not go for them, but to claim it's only a "minor" improvement and it won't effect you at level 50 compared to those who have gotten them all is just ignorant. :rolleyes:

  6. No! All I am saying is no to losing story. Getting more MMO functionality is great but not at the cost of story. For myself and I am sure 1000's upon 1000's of others story is what we feel has been missing from all the other crap mmos we have been playing the last decade.

     

    BW please add MMO features soon so the type of players like the OP do not go viral and contaminate your design decision of having STORY. Thank you that is all.

  7. This game is more of a EQ Style when it comes to Mobs not WOW.. for some reason people seem to think they should be able kill mobs 3 levels higher then themself.

     

    When in actuality the game takes more of an EQ approach to mobs. You should typically be 2 -3 levels high then the mob. Typically the mob should con green. Some classes are better at soloing then others as in any MMO. While yes sometimes they can solo mobs that are the same level. This is certainly not the norm.

     

    While there maybe some other circumstance involved such as play style, gear, The type of Mob.

     

    This isnt WoW you can jump into a group or 3 or 4 mobs the same level or - 5 levels higher then you and wipe the ground with their faces.

    Although I will say I can understand how it might throw new players off at first, as this mechanic doesn't really become apparent until you hit a certain level; usually somewhere in the level 20-25 range. Up until that point though, primarily on your starting planet and the capital afterward (maybe a little beyond that on the next planet as well) it is much easier to take on large groups of mobs that are your level or slightly higher. Also, a big thing I see people doing is making the mistake of treating their companions like they're some useless pets. It's amazing how effective they can be in their given role if you take the time to keep them just as properly outfitted as you do yourself.

    So Alderaan Bonus won't open until lvl 40! I need to go back to Nar Sharda! I need grinding so bad for

    Jadus!

     

    Yeah, all the content and quests are marked 40+ but I'm almost positive you can actually pick the quest up at level 37/38.

     

    Same with Nar Shadaa, level 30+ bonus content, but if I remember right you can grab it and get started at lvl 27/28.

    A dude wearing green... a muted earth tone... how does this contradict me?

    Two dudes in primarily sand and earth colours... muted earth tones, as I said. That's not red as much as it is clay-coloured.

     

    The second picture is concept art from this game. I have the art book, shows way more than that and honestly the original concepts for this game were far better than what made the final cut in my opinion. Also, the fourth picture, I think has less to do with color and more to do with the fact that they aren't wearing boring as robes? Dunno, but that's what I mainly noticed.

     

    Anyways, haters gonna hate and fanboiys... well, you all know what you do. Sometimes, I'm honestly afraid to even call myself a Star Wars fan simply because it lumps me in with you unimaginative drones. Who cares what the movies did or did not show? This is hundreds of years before then. You guys do know that the Star Wars universe has been steadily expanding since the late 70's right?

     

    I mean, just looking at this time-line alone, I refer you to Celeste Mourne, Lucien Draay and Zayne Carrick; not one of which wore anything close to what you people seem to think of as "traditional" Jedi clothing; despite the fact that, ykno, according to that thing called Time these guys came way before all your Luke Skywalkers and Yodas and Han Solos.

     

    Also, I feel like I shouldn't even need to say this, but do you guys really all think Jedi were robots or something? You really think if a Jedi Master wanted to wear a blue robe instead of brown they were going to kick him out because his "loud" choice of colors signaled a fall to the dark side? Really? C'mon...

  10. That is one spec, out of six. That & DFA is not justification enough for the remaining five specs to have to lug that clunky thing on their back around all the time.

     

    I do not understand why anyone would fight against having more cool-looking animations.

    To use your own logic, if you wanted to run around on the ground all of the time, you should have rolled a Marauder. Bounty Hunters have jet packs; they should have more animations involving them. To not do so is wasted opportunity and potential.

     

    My trooper has a comm pack on his back most of the time. Why can't I make long-distance calls to the Emperor?? :rolleyes:

  11. I know you can set it, but when you hover over the button, it says NOT IMPLEMENTED...?

     

    Can't really say. I've been forcing it through my drivers, which works (haven't noticed any hit to performance here personally .. if it did effect my frames I don't know/care as I still get well above 60 on average). I did notice that after the new patch, AA was automatically turned on in-game; I just turned it off since I still have it forced on.

     

    Kinda glad I didn't bother switching to in-game AA now.

    I'm pretty sure it's illegal to smuggle severed human heads, endangered wildlife, and men frozen in carbonite around Republic space; all things you do as a Smuggler in this game. Plus, as someone already stated, the first 20 or 30 seconds of your introductory class quest has you landing on Ord Mantell to .. get ready for this .. smuggle some weapons to the Republic soldiers fighting the Separatists! Crazy, I know. There's also a quest where yo can smuggle spice on Coruscant, surgically implanted inside your body no less; course you can make Corso handle that one for you.

  14. Your play style, is not mine. I just follow the flow of the game! This is the only planet hop, i have issues with! 3rd time, every thing is just missing or evading my attacks.

     

    I'm not really sure what the point of this thread is then. Multiple people have suggested plenty of ways to keep about the minimum required for any given planet, yet your only response has either been "nah, that's not MY problem" or "that's not my playstyle..."

     

    I get that it may not be your play-style, but that doesn't change the fact that you're clearly shorting yourself here; there is certainly no lack of content. I don't think I've ever gotten to a new planet where my starting class quest wasn't green, on the verge of graying out.

     

    Also, I've done a whole 2 flashpoints and maybe like 2 or 3 days worth of space dailies. That's it. Oh yeah and I have yet to run a warzone, either.

  15. What bugs me isn't so much the particulars of this or any nerf; it's the fact that this is the 3rd major nerf/reduction in the first billing cycle. It's obvious that they are focused on ho-hum MMO things like endgame balance and PvP over everything else.

     

    I'm not sure if there's a disconnect between marketing and the devs, but I was sold on a story based game from Bioware. This was supposed to be KOTOR: Origins...

     

    Are you being serious? A story-driven MMOrpg, yes. This game has never been advertised as anything else. If you thought this was going to be KOTOR III (or whatever other fancy titles you want to make up on the spot) then the disconnect is between your imagination and your eyes/ears.

     

     

    That being said. All I really have to say, in regards to the OP, is: cool story bro. Yeah, sorry, but I've got a Jedi with Synthweaving still holding out (in vain, I know) for some sort of magical wonder patch that is going to actually make my crafting choice useful. Still, with that in mind, even I can see that this was pretty much a laughable change. You didn't want BioChem to be a mandatory skill that people were being "forced" to take? Well, let's see. Before, people would level it to 400, make their re-usables, then drop it for another skill. Now, they have to keep it, as those items now actually require you to be a BioChem to use them? Do I have this right so far? Soooooo.. you basically just made it even more of a mandate, as opposed to actually trying to lessen the need for BioChem?

    I play Republic myself, but I can totally understand people wanting to play Empire instead. I think for a lot of people, aside from the reasons already mentioned, they make the choice based on what kind of Star Wars fan they are. Like, I'm sorry, but all the spiffy looking red-and-black leather and sexy accents could never get me to betray my fandom and play an Imp; just wouldn't happen. I'm sure it's the same way with a lot of other Star Wars fans, only vice-versa concerning the Republic. I doubt anyone really rolled Imp because they thought it would be the more popular choice (in terms of numbers); if anything, I'm willing to bet at least half the population who rolled Imps did so because they thought "Oh, hey, in a Star Wars universe full of Jedi the bad guys have to be the underdog!" Or, simply, because most Star Wars games to date don't really allow you to play the "bad guy" so to speak.

     

    Besides, who cares if people are playing Empire... you know they lose this war, right? :rolleyes:

  17. I haven't heard of any guilds doing runs to gear people or "keying" people for maelstrom.

     

    That's funny. We just did this, as a guild, last night. I sh*t you not. Me and a buddy were both "keyed" for Maelstrom (lolz @ people's idea of keying these days) but the healer and DPS (both also guildies) we had run Taral V with were offline. we also had a bunch of guy just reaching our level and really wanting to knock out the Jedi Prisoner quest. So, I formed one group and my buddy formed a second; between us we managed to get six other guildies geared up nicely in Taral V and ready to run Maelstrom, which we did right after. :rolleyes:

  18. Why is your guild so broken that folks won't help others? You can't help lower level folks quest or gear up?

     

    It seems when people say they want groups to play with, what they mean is they want groups to finish their quests or carry them to better gear.

     

    Yeah, for reals. I want to know what THAT guy is smoking, never mind anyone else. If you join a guild of elitists, that's your own bad. Most guilds form solely for the sake of being able to help each other out and experience the game's content together in the most fun and enjoyable way possible.

  19. When I play i just don't bother with other people in the game at this point. Game feels more like a SP and i'm happy about it. Tho If this is how the game is I wont be sticking around full time. Will but just a game I sub for here and there cause it is fun to play.

     

    This game is to single player minded but for the most part it's cause i'm sure many people are like me. Playing in their own story line and don't want to really get involved with other players. Even if they want to PvP, raid or w/e just seems like a waste to group at this point.

     

    I can agree with you to an extent; I used to be really weird about doing my class stuff alone and so on. However, since I started running with a group of 3 (me and 2 other guildies) regularly, I have to say I rather enjoy being able to share content between us, as we are all different classes and experience different parts of the main story.

     

    Also, I wouldn't really call it a "waste" to try and run flashpoints or raids; PvP is debatable, but then again I just don't really care for it much in general myself. Still, some of the best content in this game is tucked away inside Flashpoints and the end-game Operations; to pay your 15 bucks and miss out on these is what I would consider a waste. It'd be akin to paying 50 or 60 bucks for Mass Effect 3 and then purposely only playing half the game, before putting it away forever.

  20. Some ways to make friends

     

    1. Offer to help others before asking them to help you.

    2. If you see a player in trouble help kill off the greyed out mobs or toss them a heal and or buff. After the fight tell them you thought they might have needed some help and you did not think you had time to ask before you jumped in and killed some mobs. Then ask them if they need some help on a mission or to group up.

    3. Hand out low level gear/stims to players on the starter worlds and offer them some advice such as links to helpful sites on the game. Offer to start a new character to help them learn the ropes and to show them around. (Vendors, speeder routes, datacrones)

    4. Continue to talk with and help out the people you have met. Maintain the contacts you build from being a nice person.

     

    The real problem is that most of the people who complain about not being able to find groups or complete content, simply can't be bothered to actually try and make friends. See the guy a handful of pages back (couldn't be bothered to quote, sorry) who popped in to agree with the OP, but then goes on to say he doesn't want to join a guild because he shouldn't be forced to play according to other people's schedules.

     

    Now, I'm not knocking anyone who chooses to play this game - or any MMO really - solo, but do realize that by making this choice you are limiting yourself to the content you're going to be able to experience. Why pay 15 bucks a month to play a game you KNOW requires other people to complete a large portion of the content with? That's like buying a deck of cards and getting angry because you can't play Texas Hold 'Em by yourself. If you want to try and defeat that by saying that this game is still largely playable by yourself (leveling, class content, etc) then let me remind you that with a deck of cards you can also play Solitaire; doesn't mean you're going to have as much fun or even remotely the same experience playing Solitaire by yourself as you would playing Texas Hold 'Em with a group of 3-5 people.

  21. Alright, so this thread will likely get moved but I figured Id post it here in hopes that it would get lost in the torrent of bullsh*t that the General forum has become. Plus, datacrons are kinda directly linked to lore in-game so maybe I'll get lucky.

     

    Anyways, name of the post pretty much says it all. Just did my class stuff on Quesh and figured I'd grab the datacrons before leaving. Hopped online, checked the guides, found all 3 relatively quick. Sweet! Then, however, when I was checking my Codex earlier today, I noticed that for Quesh it lists the Datacrons Achievement at 3/5.

     

    So. Is there really 5 datacrons? Has anyone been able to find the last 2? Or, does anyone have a link to a guide that shows all 5? Thanks in advance! :D
