  1. Yes I get that, but when the swords/sabers collide you think that there was no collision detection involved? Maybe you're a BioWare developer and you know better then the rest of us? There is an axis that all items move on, and you can reference that axis in computer code to detect a collision, and that can coincide with a dice roll as you call (I call it RNG) it to parry the attack that was coming at you. Pretty damn awesome in my opinion, whether it's smoke and mirrors or not.
  2. An illusion you say, a damn good one too. Cause I don't take damage when it happens, and it looks cool. Maybe I'm from a different age group then you, and my understanding of software development is different than yours, oh I have 10 years so far in the industry, so maybe you have more. I get how sprites work differently, and collision detection works. What BioWare did to detect that Lazer, or blade hitting another blade is cool. Choices do change an outcome, I've seen it first hand. In the SW story you have a choice to let a kid live or die, if you let him live you go do something the will gain you more experience points, or you don't go do that other thing and you lose those experience points. Oh where in WoW do you have a choice again?
  3. Then what you do is, you don't keep going back for a so called bad experience. Send in your complaint and never go back. Bad choice to use as a comparison.
  4. Why don't the complainers go make us all the next great MMO, and then when you fail to complete the next MMO we'll all sit on your forums and complain how much your game is copy of everything else. There is only so many ways that you can create something that everyone is going to like, sorry but that is reality. Bugs are going to happen no matter what kind of software you make, number one rule of software testing is "You can never find all the bugs" The more logic you add into a piece of software the more bugs you are likely to have. So are destructive, meaning it crashes your computer to where you the user are no longer able to use it, to minor crash but I'm able to get back on. Or maybe you get the annoying UI bug that you will only see when all the planets are in alignment, and we have a blue moon for the night. Crap happens there is nothing you can do about it, get over and move on. If it's so bad that you can't play then quit. This game is not WoW, this game is not made by Blizzard, nor was it published by Activision. This game is new in my opinion, it's different, I get to swing light sabers, or I get to shoot lasers, heck I even get to shoot things while flying around in space. Answer this, when was the last time anyone saw in WoW a hunter's bullet, or arrow deflected by a sword? Oh and tell me when was the last time you got to make a choice on what you wanted to say to a quest giver? When was the last time you could go into an instance, and not face a loading bar? When was the last time you were able to send a companion to collect a resource for you? and please reference WoW when you answer the questions, use the comparisons from WoW to my questions. Bet it doesn't happen!
  5. Oh, and how is that? SWTOR has a LFG system, go read the user manual! You don't have to spam a channel. Wait you want everything handed to you on a silver spoon. I'm so happy that BioWare didn't include have the crap World of Whiners has.
  6. I'm happy that SWTOR has chose not to allow third party apps in game, now I don't have to wait for someone to update their addons during an operation(raid). The UI is clean and meshes well with everything. Do you want to play the game, or do you want the game to play for you? LFG tool was a huge mistake by WoW, it took away the social aspect of MMO gaming. Are you to scared to do a shout out in chat, or mark yourself as LFG? Join a guild, make new friends, use the tools that are provided already for you. If that isn't good enough then go back to a game that will probably lose more subscriptions as new MMO"s launch over the next year.
  7. And WoW used a lot of things found in NWN, EQ, UO, and the list goes on. Sorry, being a WoW player for 7 years myself it's a dead and boring game now. The planned release that WoW has is a copy of a few other things.. cough... cough Pokemon. Op I support your message, and I couldn't have said it any better. Hey fanboys flame on!
  8. I have to agree with the OP for the most part, but at the top of http://www.swtor.com there is a login button in the top right corner of the page. So I would assume I need an account in order to participate in the swtor fun. The email is a joke, and very hard to understand if you don't already have an account with swtor.com. Now, with that said; if it was me I would read all the directions before even proceeding with the steps, but that is just how I do things and not everyone is the same. Good Luck OP, and have fun!
  9. <sarcasm>We all love Panda's,/sarcasm> Sorry the person you quoted was right, and I had the same experience long before TBC. And I'm so tired of the comparison to WoW, SWTOR is like most MMO's that have missions/quests and in my gaming experience it's been this way for a long time. SWTOR is everything I expected and a little more who care's if you out level the quest, enjoy the stories the NPC's share with you, embrace the story telling. I'm 25 and still running around Balmorra, and I'm enjoying every moment of my missions and story. If it bothers you so much go back to the boring text you have to read in a lame dialog, and out level that content that game gives you.
  10. 40k in credits was easy to obtain in my opinion, selling quality items on Galactic Trade Network, Crew Missions, and selling items to the vendors gave me a gross of 70k in credits quickly. Now with that said the 1 million price tag for the VIP speeder is a little high, but it just means I craft more things to sell on the GTN.
  11. Merry Christmas to everyone at BioWare and Electronic Arts.
  12. I was invited in the 2nd wave this morning, ordered on 8/12
  13. Found myself doing that a lot in Skyrim, fun game.
  14. The Empire Strikes Back. Only because of the transition of the story, and "No, I am your father" part is awesome.
  15. To bad this isn't true, I've been in the software industry for 10+ years now and I have never worked 9 - 5 during a product launch, more like 7am to 12 am. I can only imagine what is happening at BioWare right now, and the amount of hours the front line is putting in to make sure that we all get to experience the game. Software launch for any firm is tedious and requires dedication from everyone, and doesn't matter if it's a game, or a business application. So unless you have concrete evidence of the hours that BioWare is working I would really hold opinions like the one above to yourself. I hope that the launch for this game goes smooth for all parties involved, and that the developers, designers, and project managers get to enjoy a break after the full launch. May the force be with you!
