  1. Supposedly the devs watch the forums so maybe they'll pay attention and see that there are dissatisfied players who simply want a way to be left alone. Personally, I don't even like the christmassy decorations but, as I said in earlier posts, I actually have issues with the holidays that are mine alone. Besides, those are easy to ignore; they don't actually do anything. I don't want to ruin that for others I just want to be left alone and apparently I'm not as alone as I thought. So, development team please consider allowing an option to opt out of these social events.
  2. To answer your question as to how I would ask the devs to go about making a way to opt out I'd already mentioned one that had been suggested in the first response I got when I started this thread. To sell an item from the event vendor that would place a "heat shield" (no graphics please) over the avatar of anyone who doesn't want to play. The thrower either would see nothing happen or get a short message saying that the target is invalid. Another way to opt out would be a PvP like flag toggle. Call it something like Participate in In-Game Social Events (or something; that's a little clumsy looking but I'm not much of a writer). The effect would be the same as my first suggestion. You have to admit, I think, that either way would be an easy, low impact solution to my request. That would be in effect for all Social Events like this one. That way people could participate or not in the events they choose. I don't know of any event that I'd personally want to be involved in but something around Halloween? Hmm... Finally, to the user the Undead I want to thank you for acknowledging that there are personal reasons that I am asking for this. I have reasons to not enjoy this season which I will not go into here; they're personal. I usually volunteer to work over this holiday so I don't have to face them but, ironically I'm on workers comp and stuck at home.
  3. No, I will not "Just get over it". I DO NOT WANT TO PLAY!! I had started asking each person I catch throwing a snowball at me I ask to stop because I consider it harassment. If they refuse I report them. I don't want to do it this way but I don't enjoy christmas nor do I enjoy being forced to participate in christmas events. I have my reasons for being like this and this all brings unpleasant memories to light for me. To answer your last question; MMOs are perfectly enjoyable solo. I will only group with people I actually know. I don't get involved in pick up groups, I don't do flashpoints, PvP or operations unless I personally know everyone involved and trust me; I'm not missing out. I'm actually not asking for that much. A perfectly reasonable solution was presented by the first person to respond to my post; have the same vendor sell an item that renders your character immune to the snowballs (in truth I wish I'd thought of that because it's a genus solution). It will not affect those who want to play this game (whatever it is) and it will allow those who have business on the Fleet to do it and not be pelted with snowballs. Let me pose a question here; everyone insists that I basically endure something I find very distracting, annoying, and ruinous to my game experience so that I won't infringe on others play-how exactly would my being able to not participate in this event harm you? Answer; it wouldn't. Therefore I maintain that a way to "opt out" of the snowball game is not unreasonable.
  4. First of all, why do you "need" to ask the question? Maybe I personally don't have fond christmas memories. Maybe I hate winter. Maybe I don't want to be a part of "holiday cheer". Maybe it's none of your business and you shouldn't assume I owe you any sort of an explanation. I am not "letting" the snowballs ruin my fun; they just are and, to be perfectly honest I don't owe anyone a reason. Your reasons for liking the snowball game are just as nebulous. In fact you seem to be defending your right to grief players who don't want to participate. I actually wish you'd not reminded me of the exploding Rakghoul plague; I hated that too although I didn't think to ask of a way to opt out then. For the record I also despise the little bouncing ball from the cartel packs. I don't like other players doing ANYTHING that affects my character without my permission either by grouping with them (in the case of heals) or by activating a PvP flag which I do very rarely. Point of fact; I don't like other players going around applying their class buffs on me either and that's actually, in a way, beneficial. Again, I'm not asking for the Devs to remove the snowballs from the game. I don't want to ruin other players fun I just don't want them to ruin mine. So now I have to ask the question; is that really too much to ask?
  5. I like the idea of an item that is available from the same vendor where the snowballs are purchased that allows the player to have a buff that makes the snowballs not hit you. I don't know what the snowballs cost but the cost for the protection should be the same. For the person who doesn't understand how it ruins my game experience; you're not me. I don't care if it's "seasonal" nor do I think I should be unable to visit the Fleet due to this "game". This is, as far as I'm concerned unwanted behavior aimed at me. I don't consider it "harmless fun" nor do I wish to "participate" in it. You'll also note that I simply asked for a way to be placed into the game where I could "opt out" like a PvP flag. I didn't ask for the items to be removed. I'm not trying to ruin everyone who enjoys the snowball fights' fun I just want a way to not have them ruin mine. Personally, I don't think that's too much to ask although from your post I guess I'm wrong.
  6. Please make a way for players like me to "opt out" of things like the snowballs recently placed into the game. I am probably the only one who feels this way but they are distracting and reduce my enjoyment of the game. I shouldn't have to be subjected to constant snowball hits every time I go to the faction fleet nor should I have to run around showing a "snowflake" effect (yes, I know I can click on the "snowflake" effect but I shouldn't have to do something to rid myself of an unwanted effect placed on e by other players). A simple thing to do would be a flag like the voluntary PvP on/off setting. I don't want to ruin other players enjoyment BUT I don't want them to ruin mine; and it does annoy me.
