  1. Your "solution" has flaws. Are YOU ever in control of what opposing faction is flagged and hanging out around you OR jumping in front of you while you're fighting something to keep from dying? Well clearly you don't think and YOUR aim is to just open your mouth and grief. You're a TROLL sir!

Situational awareness is an important skill in MMOs. This is true of PvE and PvP play. You made no mention of stealth classes, which would indicate that while you DID not see them coming, you COULD have. Try playing with your camera zoomed farther out.

(Also, with the default settings Ctrl-2 will put your pet on passive as soon as possible. Might wanna brush up on your keybinds & give it a whirl.)

  2. The Archaeology mission "Washed" returns 10 or 20 (on crit) Cortosis Substrates which would cost 4000 or 8000 creds.

The mission does not cost anywhere near 4000 creds. You should be running the consumables missions whenever they're up & only buying if you have to. Anything else is just burning cash.

You may find it easier to buy your consumables, but it's certainly not cheaper

  3. I'm not seeing anything inherently flawed in the current flagging mechanic. You chose to group with flagged players, despite knowing the consequences of doing so. You did not maintain control of your companion in a situation where you knew the consequences of doing so.

The flagging mechanic is designed to prevent all manner of griefing that can occur when someone is aiding players participating in pvp whilst being invulnerable from it. Your "solution" would cause more problems than it solves.

Don't hang out with or near flagged players. Learn to control your pet in dicey situations. Problem solved!

  4. Speaking of imbalances in areas, it's high time BioWare re-evaluates the challenge, layout & rewards between the two sides.

I have 2 50s on either side of the fence (including identically specced mirror classes) and I can state that the Imperial dailies are easier to complete, run less risk of enemy entanglement on a pvp server & provide higher rewards. It's glaring how bad it is.

Heck, the Black Hole daily dealing with toxic waste is behind a green curtain for imps, while republic have to wade in out in the open.

  5. Proifcy?

Sorry, I started laughing so bad at the spelling that I missed the entire video because of the tears in my eyes.

You need to put down the SWTOR and pick up the Webster's,

  6. Transfer, delete placeholder, rename works fine.

I had created a second Sniper on the server that ended up being my destination server & promptly forgot about her until today when I did my transfers & noticed the garbage name on my "real", transferred Sniper.

  7. I rather like having the extra buttons behind the scroll wheel. I can hit them with the inside of my first knuckle while simultaneously using the scroll wheel. I've mapped forward/back through the target list to my wheel, so it's handy to scroll through the targets and quickly tap my opener with my knuckle.

Purely subjective tho, everyone's got their own preferences.

  8. If I may add my two cents. I know you said you ordered already, but if you can cancel and change your order, I would recommend getting the regular naga. It runs for $60 less and has the exact same function.

I would additionally say that you are always better with a wired mouse as well as you won't have to deal with batteries dying.

FWIW, I got my SWTOR mouse on sale for $20 less than the wireless naga and I've never even installed the battery. It's still in the shrinkwrap/baggie it came packaged in. Ran it wired since day 1.

  9. I'd be curious to see how many of us that didn't get copied over had characters on test from the previous testing.

I've an Assassin I got to the fleet for the title in 1.2's testing phase. Was hoping to use my Guardian to take a stab at the 1.3 titles but evidently I "typed something wrong"

  10. I initially filled out the survey the same day it was announced & when 1.3 went on to PTS I found two copies of my Shadow, one with a garbage name that prompted me to rename when selected. I did some initial testing (yay instant Project!) & I realized I'd much rather test with a different one of my 50s so I resubmitted, asking for my Guardian and Marauder to go over as well.

I see the dev post that the transfers have been completed, jump servers only to find that I now have a third copy of my Shadow to test with.

    *sad trombone*

  11. Or, before you break out the tinfoil maybe it's as simple as

    1. Uptight people complain about the effects.
    2. Bioware makes quick judgement call to err on side of caution and disables items.
    3. Community erupts in protest over the social items' removal
    4. Bioware relents & decides the complaints don't warrant the removal of the items.

No, you're right. I'm sure it's just lies within lies, all to deceive and trick their customers.

  12. Can anyone give me a good justification for using existing servers as destinations instead of creating new ones? It seems like doing it that way solves several problems brought up in this thread. The only justification I can see is that BW doesn't want their stats in torstatus to look worse than they currently do.

Provisioning new servers takes effort and time and money, all of which are in scant supply for the dev team?

  13. Will there be an attempt to balance Empire and Republic players? My only problem with this transfer is that there will be a major influx in the amount of players for each faction.

Faction is like races, purely cosmetic as of 1.3

There's no open world pvp systems in place, all the warzones are same faction & the GTNs are merged. There's just the arbitrary wall put in place so you can't directly communicate. BioWare systematically removed anything that could be affected by population imbalance as soon they realized they had no clue how to fix it.

  14. Well ****...

For the people who are still deciding the exact flavor of poo they're willing to swallow, this is a small step in the right direction.

Who knows how it will turn out. The game is where it's at and the people who are still willing to play it, but are stuck on dead servers with characters they've invested a lot of time in should have an option to play with people.

    I'm not anti-transfer. I'm pro-transfer. WAY pro-transfer. I'm anti-half-done-features-with-the-rest-to-come-with-a-pricetag.

    Big difference.

I waited 6 months to see how transfers would be done "the BioWare way" since they clearly don't want to look or learn from anyone else's experiences in the industry, only to find out it's the simplest, most rudimentary & limited system imaginable & won't address the entirety of issues that many people have. If you're content with it, great, if it addresses your issues, fantastic. But for many of us, it's shuffling the deckchairs on the Titanic and yet more "soon" to swallow.

  15. Doing it this way assures that there will be a dedicated number of servers with healthy populations to improve everyone's play experience. Your personal preference is not higher priority than the health and population of the servers.

That sounds an awful lot like the rigamarole that got me & my guild to preregister and get put ON the day 1 prelaunch server we're trying to get off of.

Once bitten, twice shy. BioWare has shown they can't place, manage, shape or herd a community once already, but I'm supposed to believe them this time, right?

  16. And Rift only has 250k subs or less across 119 servers, too. Obviously not a solution for four times the population.

What's the "obvious" bottleneck? Please, elucidate me on the logistical & technical problems that prevent BioWare from giving us a reasonable server transfer system that's not built on quasi-optional pseudomerges and paid transfers down the road.
