  1. I'm pretty disgusted. I've been playing since launch, and most of my character names date back to then. I lost 6 out of 24 of the character names on my primary (subscriber) account, and 28 out of 32 of the character names on my two Premium accounts. And this is like the third time I've lost character names due to forced server consolidations. I put a lot of time and thought into those names. I'm pretty fed up with BioWare at this point. None of this would have been necessary had they used a modern, intelligent naming system instead of just copying the way WoW did it.
  2. Most of the crew mission skills at grade 9 seem to have two missions for each level of quality, a long one that costs more and a short one that costs less. For example, in Underworld Trading, there are two "bountiful" missions that return underworld metals: Buying Amends, which costs 3120 credits and takes about 37 minutes, and Everything Must Go, which costs 3745 credits and takes about 1 hour and 14 minutes Both return 5 Frasium when successful. What's the point of the longer and more expensive missions if they return the same materials as the shorter and cheaper missions? (Note: I haven't critted with one of the longer/more expensive missions yet. Do they have better results when they crit?)
  3. Multi-boxing does not violate the ToS or EUALA. I suppose whether it's "cheating" or not is a personal moral decision. I don't consider it cheating, and I don't think BioWare considers it cheating either.
  4. Dual logging may be possible using virtual machines or software such as ISBoxer. I haven't tried it personally, but others have claimed success with such methods. In response to Elly_Dawn, neither multi-boxing nor dual logging violates the Terms of Service or End User Access and License Agreement. To the best of my knowledge, Bioware has never objected to multiboxing. However, they will not provide support to the extent that your problem is the result of third party software. Furthermore, any third party software you use cannot violate the ToS or EUALA. So, for example, you can't use third party software that injects or modifies code, intercepts game traffic, changes the way the game plays, etc., nor can you use software that would allow you to walk away from the game while it continues to play itself (i.e., bots).
  5. Doesn't this pretty well describe most MMOs, including the-MMO-that-shall-not-be-named?
  6. My point is that the gold farmers will be with us either way. And I think both sides of the argument have had their turns at that horse. Yes, I have a slicer. My income has gone down, but it's not the end of the world. I still make money at it, and there are still many other ways to make money in this game.
  7. I'm not going to claim the nerf doesn't need adjustment; it may well need adjustment. Nor am I going to defend BW/EA's communication on this issue, which I agree was poor. However, I do agree with them that a fast and hard nerf was needed to prevent unreasonable amounts of credits from continuing to pour into the ecomony.
  8. The economy won't have "no money." The amount of money in the economy just won't be increasing at the rate it was before the slicing fix.
  9. Sure there would. Players would still want to buy things on the GTN. The hyperinflation caused by slicing would have increased player wealth, but also increased prices correspondingly. As a result, the kind of players who wanted to cheat by buying gold would still have a reason to do so.
  10. The way it was before, slicing would have been a wonderful tool for gold farmers.
  11. The OP in this post presents a good argument why slicing had to be nerfed.
  12. Stop being reasonable! Can't you see we're having a flame war! Back to seriousness, I can at least partially agree with you here. A nerf was clearly needed. If it went too far, though, then it should be re-adjusted. At this time, I don't believe it went too far, but I'm open to reasonable arguments to the contrary.
  13. What "slicing gives to all" would have been hyper-inflation had EA/BW not fixed the problem.
  14. LOL, somehow I think we'll manage without your benevolence.
  15. They have already addressed the problem. The problem was that slicing was a license to print money. The fix was the nerf.
  16. I agree. The devs shouldn't make decisions based upon a few people screaming and whining on the forums. This is especially true if those doing the screaming and whining have an obvious agenda, like a desire to keep their license to print money from getting nerfed.
  17. I'm not buying the trickle-down theory of SWTOR economics. Sounds to me like a rationalization that filthy rich people use in an effort to stay filthy rich. IMO, the nerf will actually help the SWTOR economy because prices will go back down to reasonable levels. Constantly pumping cash into the economy doesn't help anybody; it just leads to inflation.
  18. Slicing was a license to print money. It had to be nerfed.
