  1. I clicked Mercenary, because it sounded interesting, and the abilities / role was neat. When I hit level 40, I realized all I do as a Mercenary is use Tracer Missile, HS Missile, and Railshot. The class was really boring. I'm now Level 50 with this character, and it's still really boring. Why should I have to level up another bounty hunter to level 50, just to enjoy the game, when only 14 of my abilities would actually change? My story line won't change, my armour won't change (Aside from one stat, and MAYBE the colour), the majority of my abilities won't change, and one of my talent trees doesn't even change. The way I see it, ACs are specializations, and there's absolutely no reason I should have to spend 50+ hours on the same class to use it's other spec. That's just ridiculous.
  2. Why is there still an argument? It's been announced. They're implementing it in the future. Why're you guys still trying to tell people that they shouldn't be allowed to have fun in the game? People make mistakes. Just because you didn't, doesn't mean you're the only person playing.
  3. Yes to all of the above. I don't see why anyone would be against other people having fun in the game.
  4. Certainly sounds like a CPU issue. I've got the same studdering / low FPS problems. I recall that Call of Duty: Black Ops had the same issue when it was first released on PC, and it was due to a coding issue that forced the processor to process information that was meant for the GPU.
  5. I'm really happy to hear they're going to implement Advanced Class changes. Now, I don't have to level another Bounty Hunter up to level 50, just to enjoy the class! I think I'll play a Sorc until I can switch my Mercenary to PowerTech. You know, experience other parts of the game to have fun, rather than experiencing the same plot twice over.
  6. Definitely. If there was a way to try out some of the later abilities, maybe in a PVP game or something for a limited time before you make your selection, I think that would really help you make a decision that'll fit your play style.
  7. I agree completely. I'm in a similar position as you, so I can understand where you're coming from. A character that's enjoyable is what keeps you playing, after all.
  8. Now this is something I can agree on. Arguing like this isn't going to go anywhere, because we're just on opposite ends of the spectrum as far as opinions go. I stand by my opinion as well, but you are completely correct in saying that there was no need for any attitude, on either side. I just don't take too kindly to having the actual reason I'm posting ignored, especially when people assume I'm just here to whine, or complain that I made a bad choice and can't deal with it. I'll say right now, that it doesn't excuse my hostility, and for that, I'm sorry. Have fun out there, man.
  9. "I didn't make any attacks" 1) Addressing my character you said the following; Laziness, stupidity, obstinance, and a childish sense of entitlement are not a valid reason to change such a fundamental part of the game. 2) Continuing to do so; I love WoW, and will always love WoW, but I just can't play it anymore because of whiney, childish, entitlement junkies like you. 3) In this very post; You have displayed a childish need to take anything anyone tells you that contradicts your viewpoint and rip it apart. 4) You simply seem to want to act like a child. If you would like others to take you seriously, please stop flaming, trolling, and insulting people, and try to explain yourself in a professional and sensible manner. These comments amount to "Well, I think you're this, so what you're saying is false". That is an attempt to discredit what I said, based on what you believe to be a character trait that I posses. That is the very definition of an Ad Hominem attack, which happens to be a logical fallacy. I had a great conversation just last night, in fact, with someone who was willing to see my points for what they were. In return, I showed them the same decency. What you don't seem to realize, is that I'm simply responding in kind to people who immediately come off as if they're the messiah, and anything that contradicts their train of thought is blasphemy. I've got no problem with being hostile to people who're otherwise, excuse the term, 'douchebags' to people, just because they have a different opinion. The fact is, the first time you replied to one of my posts, it didn't have a shred of respect for my opinion in it, what so ever. Infact, you went as far as to say that my opinion, and people who share it, are what ruin games, and have ruined games in the past. You yourself were both condescending, and rude in several parts of your first post. Most notably was in your TLDR statement; "Everything's fine, you just failed." Let's not forget to mention your several points about "Childish entitlement" when all I did was agree that the game should allow you to change advanced classes, which in my opinion, are nothing more than specializations. You really expect me to construct a response that will be outwardly 'nice' after that? C'mon, that's not how it works. You show me respect, I will always return the sentiment. In regard to the quote in point 4; If you read my original post, you'd know full well that I did explain my perspective in such a manner. I didn't start "ripping people's points apart" until after mine were quite literally **** on, in a similar manner. Don't point fingers, unless you're going to point them at everyone. Also, I'd like to know how I'm 'Trolling', and how it's apparently bitterly scathing. All I've done is offered my opinions, and insight into what other people say, and how they act when presented with an issue. Most of them, like you, think they know everything, and don't stop to acknowledge a single point. In addition, only one person, who was also the only person to actually form a reasonable, and respectful post, actually gave me a solid answer when I asked "How would this system even effect you?". No one else did. You certainly didn't. It's quite ironic, that the very same things you complain about, you do yourself. Isn't hypocrisy grand? I'd also like to note that I find it to be absolutely hilarious that you're so hung up on the fact that I didn't quote your big post directly, and instead replaced it with what I got from your post to be some sort of crime. You're saying it as if I made it seem like they said something completely to the contrary, when all I did was condense the general theme and feel that I got from their post into a quote, in my own words, for my rebuttal. Perhaps the funniest part about all of it, though, is that you act like people aren't going to read their original post. Now that's just silly. If you can't deal with things like sarcasm, hyperbole, and other generic literary techniques, I suggest you get off the internet.
  10. Nah, I simply condensed what you said, since all you did was throw out insults. But please, do continue, 'skippy'!
  11. I'm not going to argue semantics with you. It's clear we have different opinions on what defines a unique class, so I'll leave it at that. So, let's respond in kind, shall we? Ahhh, here come the real children. The people who can't stand that someone has an opinion that differs from theirs. You may as well sit there shouting "STOP LIKING WHAT I DON'T LIKE! NO FUN ALLOWED" because that's what your entire post amounts to. I wonder, if Bioware implements the ability to change your advanced class, are you going to cancel your subscription? Get mad because you didn't get your way (The one you believe you're entitled to, from what I can tell after reading your self-important rant)? If you're so hung up on consequences, I recommend the world outside the basement window that you've barricaded. You seem to be just another in a long line of basement dwellers who consider themselves the 'internet elite'. If I was just 'Whining and wishing things would go my way', I wouldn't continue playing my current character, OR the game for that matter. As I said in an earlier post, that you no doubt neglected to read; I'm simply pushing this debate from the other side. Perhaps you should take the time to consider what an opinion is, and why everyone that you meet isn't you.
  12. Die. I only bring up the WoW references, because it's quite literally all you people throw around, almost as if WoW is the be all, end all of MMOs. My point is you can switch between specs in WoW, nothing more. With Advanced classes being so absolutely far from being the 'unique' snowflake that you try to make them out to be, I just don't see why we can't experience both sides of a class without having to sit through 30 hours of the same story. Like I've said before, not everyone can dedicate the time to level several characters. Then people really have to stop acting like the paragraph description that's presented at the advanced class selection window is some sort of massively helpful thing. It doesn't really give you much insight into the class, and therefore it is a fallacy to say "Well lol should've read the class description derp derp derp". This is another thing people really have to stop doing. ACs are nothing more than specializations. It is NOT even remotely similar to asking to change from a Bounty Hunter to a Sith Inquisitor. I never said the switch shouldn't have consequences either; I figure an AC switch should be a one time thing, that's massively expensive. So if you still aren't having fun, then you're out of the money, and out of luck. But to answer your question; I've got a friend who's got a PowerTech at level 50, and they were kind enough to let me play it for a few hours the last time I was over at their house. I found it to be vastly more enjoyable than my Mercenary. See, here's the issue. I'm level 40, and have already put in a lot of time to get this character to where it is. It's easy to re-roll at level 18, because that took a grand total of maybe 5 - 7 hours. I'm taking this character to level 50, because I want to experience the rest of the story line regardless of how I feel about PvP, and Endgame content with this spec. I still won't enjoy those things. That's why I want the option to explore the other AC. It would be easy to implement a system where you can do a one-time AC change at level 50. That's what I'm asking for, not a "lol I feel like tanking today, healing tomorrow, and DPSing all of next week" change at any time deal, like WoW. Also, yeah. All you do is spam tracer missile, and that's just the worst thing ever. Operatives are f*cking excellent.
  13. I edited my post to account for this before I saw this post, but I'll put it here, too. "To use the hated WoW reference; A holy Paladin plays differently from a protection Paladin, but at the end of the day, it's still a Paladin. Continuing on with that reference; You're able to switch between a retribution Paladin for DPS, a holy Paladin for healing, and a protection Paladin for tanking at will. No one is asking to change from a Jedi Knight to a Trooper here. The only thing that's been asked is the possibility of completely respecing your base class." Also, I understand that it would indeed affect you, in which one of your characters would become pretty useless. On my end of things, without it, my gameplay experience is somewhat ruined, as I don't have the time to dedicate to leveling multiple characters. I do agree with your solution, though. As I said before, It's not something that I think should be available at all times, like a change on the fly system, but rather as a system to improve gameplay for people who did come across the same issue as me, or for the level 50 who wants to experience the other side of their class without having to re-roll and go through the same story again for a change in specialization. Edit: I've also got to thank you, it's very refreshing to have a reasonable, civilized discussion in which both sides have points which are acknowledged rather than ignored.
  14. I definitely agree that the different advanced classes play differently. However, it's my opinion that the overall difference between these Advanced Classes are too small to consider them completely different classes. Instead, I see them like specializations. You're still a X class at the end of the day, using 60% of X classes' abilities, and even sharing one of their talent trees. To use the hated WoW reference; A holy Paladin plays differently from a protection Paladin, but at the end of the day, it's still a Paladin. Continuing on with that reference; You're able to switch between a retribution Paladin for DPS, a holy Paladin for healing, and a protection Paladin for tanking at will. No one is asking to change from a Jedi Knight to a Trooper here. The only thing that's been asked is the possibility of completely respecing your base class. My main point has been, throughout several posts, that the information provided when you select an advanced class is insufficient. Someone who's new to an MMO may not know what they want to do, role wise. They might go with whatever sounds appealing based on what little insight into the class is shown at the selection screen. There's no way to actually try that spec to it's fullest extent, and therefore that leaves the possibility that it isn't going to be what you're after. The issue with that is this; You won't know until late game, much like my situation. What I don't understand is why some people are so vehemently opposed to a feature which by all means wouldn't really effect them. Noone said it'd be avaliable all the time, or would be free of any negative consequences. To my knowledge, people just want the OPTION to change without having to re-roll a character.
