  1. I'm still trying to figure out what exploit. The system was working as intended. They (bioware) did not expect people to use it the way they did but that doesn't make it an exploit when bolster WAS working as intended. It's called utilizing game mechanics efficiently and as they (bioware) said creatively.
  2. I couldn't help but laugh at all the complaining SWG get a group of 4 lvl 10's go to a 90 zone with 2 90's. run all in game macro's and power level to 90 in 3 days without playing. been there done that. EQ2 create a new account after making another free email. Send yourself a friend invite for free game time. Group up for xp boost, run potions for 200% boost to xp + vitality and run at 400% then have your main mentor level and run thru heroic areas. Max level in a weekend. been there done that you people crying are acting like this is the first time it's done in an mmo..... It is working as intended. It's not an exploit it is simple game mechanics being utilized. None of the other games have done anything to curb power leveling or suspended/banned for violation of EULA (which it's not). I have 5 50's and don't feel like wasting time leveling another as i can't play all enough as it is so power leveling would be a great thing for me but it's already so damn easy to level in this game anyway so it's pretty much a moot point.
  3. personally i don't like going under 1 mil credits on any of my toons at any time but with that said I buy all purples for alts while leveling as I do mostly pvp to level (moot point about repair costs) but I do daily fp's only for rak weekly to get the coms and you can always plan on getting into a crap group as that's about 50% of the time. I buy augments, gear, etc to boost my abilities on my toons so if the occasional spend of 5 mil credits to buy several enhancements and armorings are stupid then I guess I'm guilty. Bottom line is you can spend at least 500k in repairs a week running ops in your guild working progression for your guild. No one wants to be forced to run dailies just because they don't craft or have lots of competition crafting and people constantly undercutting and things don't sell fast. The point is that they effectively tripled the repair costs as an effort to remove credits from the game. To many people sitting on to many credits it's their way of doing that but they are going to effectively change the entire economy of their game in a way that will detriment the player base. It's not going to help them bring in more money as lots of people who don't have lots of time to play are now going to go to outside sources ie websites selling credits in game to cope and bioware still won't get any of the pie. People will leave and fewer subs will result in even less revenue for bioware causing them to do more stupid changes or charges to make up the profit loss. Just my 2 cents btw I couldn't believe my repairs on columi gear at 25% was over 55k. I can understand now why a normal que for LI as a dps is 20min - 1 hr was today a 3 hour wait without a single pop. No one wants to pay those repair prices.
  4. SWG was a failed game? I fail to see that you have made your point. I played the game till about 1 year before they shut it down and I only left because I was spending any free time for gaming raiding in EQ2. It's funny that you think a failed game is one that lasts almost a decade and lasted through the release of how many other MMO's? Point is I love this game and don't care if I have to go through a pvp area for a pve quest. You also haven't got a clue on how to make a comparison. I took from something that has already happened in an mmo to show that it can and will work. Also everyone gets recruit gear so yes you have stats for pvp unless you decided not to get it in which shame on you.
  5. I want full dreadguard gear but I don't want to raid. Give me it all for killing a strong mob over and over..... I can't agree with you more. If you don't want to do it you don't get it plain and simple
  6. I'm sorry but did Star Wars fans not play SWG where you had to go get a lightsaber hilt for a quest from a contested mob in a pvp zone? I find it rather enjoyable. Pvp'er have to quest through the story line to access their companions. Why not make a pve'r do pvp for a quest? What you're saying is I don't need to play the game as intended just the way I want or I will complain and complain.
  7. I see a lot of people complaining about things that are not in the game. You people are obviously not familiar with MMO's as they do not put everything possible out on release. There are things called expansions, updates, and the cartel system that has been putting stuff out at an alarming rate. Give it time and you just might get what you want. I'm sorry but I wouldn't put out every possible variation of every style of clothing spanning thousands of years into an MMO upon release as there would be nothing left to give.
  8. I see there was an update yesterday and once again bioware takes something incredibly straight forward and turns it to garbage. Before this update you have a lock/unlock button on your hot bars that was IMPOSSIBLE to confuse. A locked lock shows a locked bar. Unlocked showed....... an unlocked bar. Now there is this useless up arrow that doesn't change that you have to hover over to make sure you are locked. Why the hell would you change something as simple as that to make it worse?
  9. God i hope they don't make the black core crystals craftable.... They sell at the cheapest 300k that i've seen and will drop the price to 30k and make them not so rare anymore. Keep it the way it is imo
  10. To be fair you joined their raid for the weekly. If you had expressed your desire to get the mats you should have said something the first time they did it. If you continued to participate after that then it's completely your fault. My guild does the same thing. If we pick up 1 pug it's not cause we have to have that person to complete it but because we're offering to bring someone thru with us. We have had only 1 person leave because they couldn't get crafting mats but to be fair if they want to roll i'm sure the other 8 people in my guild will roll as well to keep it in the guild. That diminishes your chances too. Bottom line you need to ask the question. You don't go to a job interview and not ask how much you're getting paid. Same goes here. Just cause you didn't ask doesn't make them wrong.
  11. The redo is inaccurate. It splits up a single thought into 3 paragraphs 1. A distinct division of written or printed matter that begins on a new, usually indented line, consists of one or more sentences, and typically deals with a single thought or topic or quotes one speaker's continuous words. Again if you want to correct someone please be accurate. Correcting someone when wrong shows how ignorant you are. Just because a single thought is long and needs 12 sentences to express does not make it wrong. Added an extra space this time for those that cannot see that and enter key has been pressed once (not twice). Try responding to the original topic. Your attempts to flame are really quite funny and lame. Someone made a long post. They must be a noob to the game..... Wrong don't normally post on forums so this one liner attitude baffles me.
  12. Lol. People refuse to read the original post and comment on punctuation? Read it and you will see for the most part it is more accurate than you incorrectly imply. Second. The original post is 3 paragraphs. 3 separate thoughts. Made to be only 3 paragraphs. Before you try to burn someone at a fifth grade reading level you might want to make sure you are correct. This is why you have failed.... world full of one liners with no original thoughts. Someone has those and you get OMG WALL O TEXT cannot read
  13. I've done a lot of reading on everyone's thoughts on F2P. While I agree with the restrictions some are weird but implemented. Games in general regardless of being an MMO or not have been faced with a lot of new issues over the last few years thanks to things like Facebook and smartphones. Facebook made games available and those companies wanted to make money so they posted advertisements in the games. People cried about getting add popups in their game so they made it so in games like farmville/mafiawars you have limits on how much you can do at one time (run out of energy). You can buy the ability to keep playing and go further. Look at Evony which started as Civony on FB. A whole game for free (a little more fun costs $30). Free to play forever as they advertise. Now I played this game for 2 years. For most people it wasn't enough. When people would get attacked at night they'd freak out over losing a city. So they would share login info with alliance members. But they couldn't feed their troops so bots were developed. After that it still wasn't enough so they had the bots multibox running 10 accounts at once to feed 1 main account. Devs caught on to this and implimented captcha. Now the bots started charging for captcha solves. Communities in the game got fired up. How dare they have to pay to play a free game..... Funny thing was they weren't paying for the bots (most were being shared), yet they were paying $30 a pop to buy ports, leveling tools and other things to increase their play experience. People who didn't run the bots complained that they were not able to be on par with those that did. People using the bots complained that because they didn't pay for catpcha solves weren't on par with those that were. People who paid every step of the way were able to play it their way. Look at Sim City on FB. Same as Farmville only so much energy to play so much at a time with purchased upgrades. The world has changed to everyone wanting free games. I have 30 games downloaded on my phone for free, photo programs, gps etc for free. Everyone wants free stuff. Would bioware be smart to put advertisements in the game for the free people as a means to make money and unlock the restrictions? No cause people would complain about the adds....WOW doesn't have adds in F2P. EQ2 doesn't do that. We are living in the age of F2P games cause noone wants to pay to play a game. How dare Xbox charge me for Xbox live. Sony doesn't charge me. Point I'm trying to make is if Bioware didn't make the game f2p people would complain about dead servers (tho mine was never dead). They make the game f2p and people complain about restrictions. Lets say they try the FB way of things and only allowed you to play so much at a time (5 min at level 5, 6 min at lvl 6) you would complain. This is not FB, this is not a phone, this is Bioware and people need to either accept they are doing a business model their way or no way. Don't like it go play farmville, go play evony, go play WOW. FB has destroyed peoples mentalities into thinking everything should be done for free (lol at FB stock). Personally I like the monthly fee's. Rather pay $15 for a month of gaming than spend $50-100 at the bar for one night, or $10 on a big-mac meal, or $15 for a 3d movie plus another $10 for the popcorn meal. Pay to play or don't complain. Bottom line
  14. Here's something I want to know. For those of you who came to this game because of your friends who already played (if this isn't you don't fkn reply to this) why did you quit? was it because you didn't like the game? was it to restrictive? OR was your friend yapping in your ear how terrible the restrictions were and how you get nothing, and how they already left once, blah blah blah. If that happened to you I completely understand why you left....not cause of the game but because your friend wouldn't shut the hell up I could cite countless posts where people say oh my friend tried playing and they hated the restrictions and quit. I had 10 friends play and only 1 is left... Yet those people are the most vocal (look thru their posts) about how the restrictions are dumb, pointless, and turning people away. I think those people want to turn people away to prove their own point. I would leave too if you jabbered in my ear like that as well. If i give you a car cause you're broke and car-less are you gona complain about the cracked dashboard, the oil leak, and the tire that needs to be plugged cause you have to spend $200 to fix something worth $2000? Probably based on F2P results. Good luck getting to work now.... I would give F2P a chance if I weren't already leveling a new character on my account. Maybe after I'm done but only if i could pay for an account transfer. There's no point in me leveling another character on an account I can't do anything with in endgame. I pay therefore I want to be able to use it later on if i'm gona take the time to do so. If they will allow me the ability to pay to account xfer I will gladly do as the OP has done just to prove it's playable as my gf has already canceled her sub to go F2P (only has 1 character not at max level) and still has fun.
  15. This is the one that makes me laugh. Don't get me wrong I agree with you. Lets look at WOW.. released in 2004 first expansion was 3 years later. Was there so much content they didn't need an expansion? Not likely. 2007 Crusade comes out next year Lich King comes out, and finally 2012 Pandas comes out. 4 expansions in 8 years with not that much content comming out inbetween and the WOW finatics that compare TOR to WOW complain about content? Now personally I only played wow to lvl 20 on one toon before I couldn't stand playing a cartoon and wanted to go back to an MMO with a degree of difficulty that not every 6 year old could play. So why should SWTOR cater to a population that repeatedly says I won't pay to play? Why are those that hate this game so upset that F2P doesn't give them everything? If you left this game to go back to WOW cause "it's not worth the money" or "the game sucks" or "XX mmo is better" why the hell are you back? Don't get me wrong I enjoy more people playing as much as anyone else but it seems like no matter what they do you will never be happy unless you are playing your one true love. Admit it you don't like the Star Wars genre and prefer the fantasy games like WOW, EQ2, Vanguard, etc. Noone will blame you for going back. We didn't the first time. But you seem to find your way back to this game, back to these forums and continue to complain about how your game you just left again is so superior. "Oh I played LOTRO and their f2p is so much better" Shoo... Go play LOTRO. It's that simple. As for the subscribers defending F2P having to many restrictions we all know why. The moment Bioware changes and gives everyone everything you will save your money and unsub. I WOULD. I'll hop on that bandwagon with you. TAKE AWAY ALL RESTRICTION MAKE IT COMPLETELY FREE TO PLAY SO I CAN SAVE MY MONEY!!!! I don't care if it's business suicide I want my money. Sorry but that just sounds dumb. Bioware keep making the game the way it is beneficial to you. I will continue to pay and play until the day I get bored with the game and eventually split ways (without comming on your forums to bash your game and come back later). But you have my word when I leave I will not come back to the forums and complain about a game I hate or have no desire to play. I will simply go to another MMO and join their community.
  16. I gota agree. If everything was on par for sub vs f2p i'd cancel as well and play for free.
  17. Personally I have to agree that giving the entire first 49 levels away for free is a bit much. People compare swtor to wow. ok fair enough. Lets talk about a game that has had 8 years to work out bugs perfect their game and cater to their fans. Only first 20 levels are "free forever". SWTOR should have adopted that into the game to entice people to start playing. Honestly trying to bring someone back to the game who posts on the forums how terrible the game is, well, it's stupid. It's like getting into a fight with your loved/hated one, breaking up, getting back together and fighting all over again (rinse repeat). It's gona end violently. Be adults and go your separate ways. I personally say if people want everything for free Bioware should do patches, new content, expansions, and everything else for an MMO for free to cater to those crying it's not worth it, or I need an extra quick-bar, or I want to pvp forever and not pay maintenance fee's. This will make everyone happy as noone will ever have to pay to play the game again. They'll shut it down for obvious reasons but lets face it....you can't give everyone everything they want or you'd end up as previously stated giving it all away for free. People just need to face the facts and accept the game the way it is. You really only have 3 choices, accept it, change it (which unless you're a dev that's gona be a no), or get rid of it. So for most of us the only 2 options are accept it or get rid of it. You left for a reason. Think about why you left before you cry about coming back.
  18. While I'm not in a top guild by any means I agree with the OP that I personally don't want to much alacrity. My heals are solid enough to keep any of our tanks up (our biggest problem clearing content is dps not getting the output and always hitting enrage timers or being stupid). I run just under 8% alacrity and can still get the heals out fast enough but prefer the bigger heals to faster cast times and running out of force.
  19. populating the server with people who can't do much isn't really populating the servers. On the other hand if you increase the freebee's lets say you make it to where you can do 5 HMFP's per week and 10 pvp matches well then I will gladly cancel my subscription and pay $10 per week for ops. I'm sure a lot of people would do the same and then Bioware will populate the servers and make 1/3 less money. Great way to stay profitable if you ask me. I think the point that people forget is that bioware is not a non-profit. They are in this to make money. F2P is a way to entice people to come back or mainly allow people to level for free and hook them to get subs. If someone is broke and cannot afford to pay a sub then there is no real market for bioware. Ultimately they have to remain profitable to their shareholders and giving people a reason to cancel subscriptions to play for free isn't a good idea You can try to justify how it will help you all day long but bioware doesn't care about any individuals. They care about what is profitable for them as a company. They have made more money off the cartel coins from subscribers than they have from f2p people trying to get a week of pvp or HMFP's i can almost guarantee. Several guildies have already spent over $50 on cartel coins to get the rare stuff from the boxes. How many f2p people have paid that? guessing not many cause they aren't paying $14.99 per month. I will reiterate again so you can understand this time Bioware wants to make money. Free does not = increased profits. F2P is a marketing tool to get people to level for free and sub later (hopefully they enjoy the game if they took the time to hit 50). More free stuff is NOT in Bioware's best interests.
  20. I understand you subscribe as you have previously stated. My statement, "give me more for nothing" was directed at the people who do not subscribe (the people you are standing up for). There is no reason to give them more for nothing. As I said if you (generally speaking) want to just do pvp you are not really looking for money but rather the experience of pvp. Bottom line is if someone is serious about playing this game they will pay for a subscription. The stats are simple. Serious gamers pay. I would rather wait longer for a good pvp team then insta que for a fast loss from f2p players who are not serious about the game. The guy who said lower their ranked coms doesn't help his own point either. Gear them up slower but let them play in recruit gear longer? That will really hurt the pvp scene.
  21. I guess beggers can be choosers. I am not paying but I want more free stuff? Really? You cannot be serious. Now I do think they made a mistake with how they charge for f2p. If you want to pvp and that's all you want to do you are paying 240 cartel coins. That is 960 coins in a 4 week month (1200 in 5 week month). It costs $9.99 USD for 1050 coins. so in essence you are paying $10 per month to pvp or $15 per month to subscribe. They are nickle and diming you but charging a quarter if that makes sense. $10 per month doesn't get you GB access, unify colors, cash limits, no ops, no FP's (well limited) etc. It is seriously stupid to pay for a single item. They should change it to 80 cartel coins for a week pass for pvp, ops, HMFP's, etc. This allows someone to buy what they want without paying for the fluff they care not for. This would be good customer service and might actually make someone more willing to subscribe than the way they are doing it right now. If the OP was serious this is what they would have stated this rather than give me more for nothing. The financial team for this game is seriously on crack the way they broke down the charges for cartel coins. But back to the original topic. If you're not paying for something you don't deserve much and have no right to complain as the rest of us who do subscribe have to deal with you complaining in and out of game. You like GW2? GO BACK. If you're gona compare how great something is to the way this is then you obviously don't want to be here. OMG WOW was so awsome.....why did you leave? Just my 2 cents on F2P and the people complaining and not sub'ing
