  1. Bioware have acknowledged that referral farming is not what they intended when the friend referral system was first introduced, but they have also said that they do not consider buying and selling of referral clicks to be something worthy of punishment.

Personally I would be running with an assumption that the starter planet referral spammers are linked directly to gold sellers. As BioWare I would take a very keen interest in players doing this, it certainly isn't a good advertisement for the health of this games community by being allowed to continue.

I'd never use the referral of someone I didn't think has made a contribution to the community.

  2. You're the one generalizing into "everyone farming hammer station is a jerk". I'm simply pointing out its unfair to say everyone is a jerk when

    A. you don't know everyone

    B. You're leaving before they get a chance to be a jerk

    And just to preemptively add

    C. Any sample size you can gather personally is irrelevant as to the predominance of jerks in hammer station.

Well, that's far too logical. Are you on the correct forum? :p

  3. Agree. Crafting in the new system is ridiculous. Below is what is needed to craft 1 single purple augment (This is pure mats needed excluding any crits during the chain process)

    • 10 processed isotope stabilizer

    • 5 solid resource matrix

    • 5 legendary ember

    • 576 Standard Veda Cloth

    • 192 Premium Veda Cloth

    • 96 Prototype Veda Cloth

    • 450 Premium Lustrous Bondar Crystal

    • 450 Premium Lustrous Artifact Fragment

    • 150 Prototype Lustrous Artifact Fragment

    • 150 Prototype Lustrous Bondar Crystal

    • 75 Artifact Lustrous Bondar Crystal

    • 75 Artifact Lustrous Artifact Fragment

    • 270 Premium Woven Syntex

    • 270 Premium Data Spike

    • 90 Prototype Data Spike

    • 90 Prototype Woven Syntex

    • 45 Artifact Data Spike

    • 45 Artifact Woven Syntex

That's 3,044 materials needed to craft. This system has needed change since it was launched, and not much if anything has been done since it was introduced. I don't expect any different on the new augs. I'll just ignore and wait for the new gear treadmill. It will prob come out before people are able to collect the mats needed to craft a full set of these anyways

That's why this is a bad idea, the crafting system behind the new augments (materials and sources aside) is already broken badly and is still to be addressed properly by BioWare.

  4. We also want to refresh interest in our prestige modes by adding a very clear incentive while we work on the next batch of new content.

We have a few goals here. First, in PvE, it has been several months since Dxun Master Mode released. Top-end guilds have cleared the content and achieved the timed run achievements. Guilds still progressing in Dxun could use a slight boost to help get over the hill of that next boss, and a slight power bump should help. We don’t want progression to stagnate, and we would also like to make it worth people’s time to farm older Master Modes in order to gear up the next batch of recruits for the most current content.

Everything aside about the whole material / crafting mess since Tier 11.

I have a really simple solution to participation of higher level operations, stop level syncing them on each level increase. I used to actually enjoy going back into the older content, on a harder mode (read as: some actual mechanics not just a HP increase, but also some actual mechanics you could overcome such as DPS checks due to a higher player power level / more HP etc). That was removed, it really isn't a player produced issue, not everyone is capable of beating harder content at the current level and a "small" boost doesn't really cover it in most cases I'd guess. It was also a nice way to introduce newer players to different mechanics in that setting, that would translate to the newer content later on.

    Anyway, that's my two cents.

  5. This is why they should never have had exclusive rewards but a token vendor with rewards like these and you get a token each month you're subbed. Much cleaner that way. You want Shae? Pay x tokens, so you know when you can get her and if you already have her than you get tokens instead to spend on another reward from the vendor.

Just add more rewards on the vendor from time to time and presto, you have veteran rewards in place.

Shoo, get away. There is no room for this type of sensible comment on this type of thread.

There has to be haves and have nots, this is the way.

    /s

  6. How would it work>? would it be Name, followed by a number?

Say 'Antman #1234' and how would it work in chat, would it look like 'Antman' or 'Antman #1234'

If it's the first way, and say a friend was looking for me, how would he know which 'antman' in chat is me, there's could be multiple 'antman' on at the time.

I would assume that you would be on their friends list if it was the first option.

If it's the second way, how would it look for rp'rs I can't imagine they'd appreciate the numbers, it's would definately be an eyesore during their rp's.

Feasibly BioWare could add an option to hide the identifier to the user if selected. It would probably however be visible on the character select screen, which really, is a small price to pay for being able to select a name you would like to have.

  7. No, not when the character name is on an account that the owner no longer bothers with. I am not supporting a name purge of reckless abandon, I am supporting a rational and considerate name purge.

Because don't tell me that someone who hasn't logged in for years into the game and doesn't plan to log in for the next couple of years to come, is concerned what happens to their character names. And if they are concerned, well then, then they should come online and play those characters.

    That's a bit harsh.

I still think that the best option would be to add a unique identifier (#12345) that is invisible to other players. Like pretty much every other game service out there. It would resolve the "can't get a name I like" scenario and instead of alienating potential players both old and new (including with server merges) it keeps people happier.

    Just my two cents (again....).

  8. The only thing I can find is the i5-8250U mobile processor, so can we assume this is a laptop? Or a NUC?

SWTOR is very CPU dependent and always gets fps drops in PvP and OPs. SWTOR works best with CPU speeds above 4 GHz, but the 8250U's base speed is only 1.6GHz, with a turbo of only 3.4GHz .

So, it really doesn't matter which GPU you use.

Note - Also, SWTOR uses at most, 2 threads/cores.

Assume it's a laptop as the 530 also isn't available as a dGPU afaik.

I guess it really depends on the in-game settings, but for a 15W TDP CPU I wouldn't expect to play at high resolutions or settings with that combination. :(

  9. So lately im often in groups where some melee guy/girl keep run around the target (usually a boss but sometimes even normal adds) while attacking...and im getting a little confused

Do you use keys to move in combination with the mouse, or solely the mouse to move? That may be part of it. The jumping is as others mentioned helps to update the server location of your character to avoid AOE etc.

  10. It is a refreshingly nostalgic game to return to after a long hiatus.

I think this sums it up nicely. If you stop enjoying something then stop doing it, I haven't played the game properly for well over one month now, I've logged in once in that time and the break is a good thing (playing Destiny 2 currently).

I'd say don't participate in the credit sinks if you find them irksome. However that pretty much excludes a lot of the game right now, as it stands. I didn't find them particularly appealing, especially amps. I took a break for other reasons (lack of content that I found interesting and truly utterly broken crafting).

I may return at some point, give BioWare a few years and they may have fixed a few things, or broken even more in that time.

  11. No one complained about slots dropping too much Jawa Junk and no one minded that they dropped Certificates either. It gave you a real reason to play with this decoration on top of how neat they look, too.

They easily could have just turned down the Jawa Junk drop rate but everything else was unnecessary imo when it came to nerfing the Cartel Slots.

I seem to recall the outcry from the crafters who also sold high end materials about the Jawa Scrap drop rates. Obviously after they spent millions on the slot machine to get enough materials to see them through for ages or to sell when prices increased.

BioWare knee jerked their reaction to them and nerfed the machine to oblivion, the only two people who won in that scenario were BioWare (packs sold = $) and the crafters (abused the machine in the name of "research", then got it nerfed).

It wouldn't hurt to return the drops rates back to where they were originally, considering how much Jawa Scrap is now available in the game. It definitely wouldn't hurt crafting, especially in light of the 200 Jawa Scrap required for the latest materials.

Doubt BioWare would do that, anything that is good for the players = don't do. Although they'd sell more Slot Machines on the CM.....

  12. You can't overclock a non-K i7-8700, so about the only thing you could do would be to replace the CPU with a socket compatible faster model.

Assuming the Dell motherboard bios allows you to do so, which in my experience with some Dell PCs over time, they don't always play nice. Also the PSU is something to factor in, Dell tend to cut to the bone with their PSU so drawing more power may not be wise.

Aside from this, I'll mirror others in the thread who have pointed out CPU factors in more at 1080p resolutions, going higher you also need to consider the GPU.

Onderon and Mek-sha are laggy for everyone. It seems to be baked into the code somehow.

They are? Okay, I must be playing a different game then..... :p

  13. Fully agreed, and there's too much of this nonsense in 6.0

One of the popular Sage/Sorc armor sets tells us that if Resurgence is cast upon a target a second time that "some" energy is returned.

The Entertainer armor set tells us that teammates stats are "improved" when we enter combat, but nothing about how much.

At this point my level of trust in BW is hitting an all-time low.

Quite a few of the new sets are rather ambiguous in their descriptors. It's like BioWare don't want players to know how awful those sets truly are.

  14. It's conditioning.

    It is.

The only logical connection in your post is the word "crates"

It's not so much the crates themselves Dasty, as eluded to further down it's a feedback loop, one very similar in fashion to the Cartel Market packs. Perhaps less so now they have direct sale items.

    ever more reliant on RNG.

You could pretty much say this about most rewards in the game bar the ones that have specific paths to earn.

Renown and crates are meant to contribute to that positive feedback loop, and that feedback loop has a name: maintaining player addiction.

Addiction or player engagement? I think there is a bit of both intended in there. Either way, all of it is useless which makes it even more surprising they removed the "fluff" from there which at least had some use for players, especially those who were using it to gain companion levels or try to collect certain looks in the game.

I'm not sure why they felt the need to remove that fluff.

  15. Right? I mean it’s not like we’ve been asking about those amplifiers for months now.

    [snip]

There’s no clear communication to allow us to Test these amplifiers to see if they are actually working.

I suspect, considering it's BioWare, it's a broken as the luck stat used to be in Anthem. If you went over a certain percentage (100%) then it would reset itself.

Considering we've asked for further information in regards to crafting amplifiers and there has been absolutely no recognition nor further information supplied, I'm going to go with it's broken and isn't working as intended. Unless BioWare want to prove us otherwise? Because at this point we're correct and they're wrong, the amplifiers don't work properly, we don't even need to provide the mathematics to back it up, because they can't be bothered to either.

  16. ~4 for Rich, 4.5 for bountiful artifacts... prototype was ~50% more mats from bountiful, and 50% less for premium...

it's quite possible Rich is meant to return more artifact pieces (and should) but that zero tells me that the entire range is being supplied by a single highly random number..... which is odd considering the stability of crit rates even at low counts, I had always assumed they used a double roll, or gausian function to make it behave more predictably*)

    *

at it's most simplistic, something like

    Random( 0, 100 ) + Random( 0, Crit * 2 ) > 100 = Critical Roll

    rather than

    Random( 0, 100 ) + Crit > 100 = Critical Roll

basically the more random elements being added the more likely they are to fall around the target "average", just like when rolling 2D6 instead of 1D6

I had noticed the actual range of numbers was far wider than previous tiers, with no set minimum. Previously you could get something along the lines of 2-8, now it seems more akin to 0-20. They certainly could do with narrowing that range for grade 11, as well as matching the range to be closer to material requirements for the grade 11 crafting schematics.

They've definitely got the ability to tinker with it, we've seen that with the increase in premium material returns, they didn't go anywhere near far enough to compensate for the increased material requirements though. It's the sheer range that is possible that completely kills the crew gathering skills though.

Sadly it isn't much different to gathering in the open world, the nodes don't increase in line with the new material requirements, which then makes the parity between grade 11 and the previous grades in terms of time required far too much.

  17. The average success for Rich yielded LESS artifact (purple) mats than a Bountiful success

What were the overall material returns though? Did you see much higher Prototype and Premium materials in the Rich missions compared to Bountiful? Or were they roughly the same?

Seems a little off though, but that sums up the crew skill gathering missions for Grade 11. BioWare tinkered with a format that worked, to something that was broken when taken in the context of the number of materials required for basic things to craft (as well as time).

I know they touted that they wanted to push gatherers to gather in the open world, but that isn't always feasible or possible considering the limited number of nodes and consistent respawn locations and other players. One player can effectively tie up a resource if they have the right route, without anyone getting a look in, or making it very hard to break into even if they managed to grab a node here or there. Routes can also be very faction dependant, depending on the resource in question, which can be a limiting factor.

    Sigh, typical BioWare shenanigans.

  18. I saw one drop from an Ops last week, but I can't remember if it was Explosive Conflict, Terror From Beyond (I'm leaning towards this one) or Scum and Villainy (this would be my second guess).

Used to drop in Terror from Beyond in-between The Writhing Horror / Ciphas, Heirad, and Kel’Sara boss fights, from a certain larger enemy....
