Also make sure you are getting your daily quests from the combat area on the fleet. They are a huge xp boost. Gearing up is easy if you are just doing PvP. With each warzone you do you will get warzone comendations that you can use to purchase the lvl 20 and 40 PvP gear. If all you do is warzones you will have more then enough to buy each set prior to reaching that level. Do keep in mind that the comendations cap at 1K so buy your pieces as you go and stick them in your bank so you don't get capped. After you have all your 20 and 40 gear you can use the comendation to buy the purple lvl 50 PvP bags that will give you the tokens you need to get the lvl 50 PvP gear.
