    3D?

Depth and convergence are two separate settings. While convergence does need to be set pretty low (for myself at least) you can fiddle with the depth setting to give yourself more depth of field and a greater 3D effect. We need to remember that technically The Old Republic doesn't support 3D, so any 3D effect is just ice cream on an already tasty apple pie. I don't concern myself with 'it's hardly a 3D effect'. It is a 3D effect. Full stop. It's a fun little gimmick, that if you can utilise will probably give you a little more enjoyment out of an already great game, and makes that 3D graphics card a little more 'worth it'. That's all.

    3D?

The glasses I use came with the laptop. They are Nvidia 3D Vision active shutter glasses. I'm not certain if you need any sort of special monitor, but I'm going to say no, you should be ok. You'll need an IR emitter however, if your monitor doesn't have one you should be able to purchase one separate. There's a link on the back of my glasses box: http://www.nvidia.com/get3d for more information. Or the nvidia forum link I posted in my last post. I'm still relatively new to the 3D world myself. I've only watched a couple movies with it, played TOR, and briefly checked out Skyrim and Sins of a Solar Empire with 3D on, but I'm slowly learning.
  3. Can you open your character sheet, go to your ship tab, and click and drag the Proton Torpedo to a quickslot?
  4. Don't forget, "abandon quest" to clear it from your log... "untrack" will only take it off your game screen, but it will still be in your log. During my first play through that happened to me, I kept accepting, but not completing the Heroics, I would untrack them and forget about them... until on Tatooine I couldn't accept any more quests until I completed more. Threw me for a loop until I found the problem. "abandon" not "untrack"

    3D?

It is. Looks great, feels awesome, and the asteroid thing still makes me smile. I remember parking myself behind a smoking, flaming Sith destroyer during Assault on Makam Te while chasing that cruiser, and getting lost in all the smoke and flames, and still pumping out laser blasts and thinking to myself "This is the greatest thing in the world"

    3D?

Thought I'd post an update since I figured out my issue. I simply needed to adjust the image convergence while in game. If you are using an Nvidia Graphics card, go into your nvidia control panel, look to the left side of the screen and find the sub menu option "Stereoscopic 3D" and select "Set up Stereoscopic 3D" click the 'enable Stereoscopic 3D' box in the main screen, and click 'Set Keyboard Shortcuts' below, select 'show advanced in game settings' then 'enable advanced in-game settings' and write down the 'ctrl + Fn' shortcuts the control panel gives you. Then, turn on your 3D capability, and launch the game. The best place to fiddle with your image (I've found) is in your character selection screen. Ctrl F5 is my decrease convergence, and that was the shortcut I used to bring the two visible images into sync to provide one proper 3D image. You also might need to adjust the depth of the image as that can subtly make your head hurt. Depth is not quite as obvious to detect as convergence, I noticed after half an hour of playing (when I first got the convergence right, and 3D working) that my eyes felt like I was playing cross eyed and my head starting hurting a little, so I played around with the depth setting until I found a level I was comfortable with (2nd point on the graph line). A couple impressions regarding 3D and Star Wars the Old Republic: It's awesome. Lightsabers and Force Lightning look amazing in 3D. For a game that doesn't (officially) support 3D it sure does a good job, of course that could be mostly because of the video card... but still, it's got excellent compatibility. You might run into some performance issues if your processor is not powerful enough, if I'm in an asset heavy area (lots of tree, grass, characters, models, etc.) I notice some slight chop, but so far the only place I've found anything noticeable was on Alderaan, and it wasn't bad enough to ruin my experience. I've had worse lag while playing the game while leaving Utorrent running in the background. My latency rate has not risen above 50ms while 3D is enabled, though I've got a pretty powerful machine, your results may not match mine. Conversations might make your head hurt a little... between the main game image and all the text on the screen (subtitles during convos with aliens, chat log, crew mission notifications etc) the depth of field and the image itself can be [literally] mind boggling, especially with a big Jawa head on your screen, the Jawa was actually the first conversation that made me have to shake my head. There's something about that model that just feels weird when viewing it in 3D... something about the size of the head maybe... I don't even know, it's just a weird one to look at. Space combat is a hell of a trip. I actually noticed myself twitching my head to avoid an asteroid that whizzed past my ship, and looked like it was coming directly for my face. Completely sub conscious, I didn't realise what had happened until after when I thought about it and laughed. Though, sometimes I have trouble finding my crosshairs amidst all the smoke, lasers, and explosions. Bottom line is while it's not perfect, it certainly is an amazing experience. If you have a 3D graphics card, grab your glasses and turn it the hell on. If you've got more questions, feel free to ask, I'll try to answer what I can, but a better reference might be: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?act=idx as that's where I found my answers. Of course, that link won't really help too much if you're using say, an ATI card. Anyway, best of luck, and enjoy playing The Old Republic in 3D if you can!

    3D?

Bump. Is there no one who can help? Or at least point a finger in the right direction... does anyone even know if TOR will properly simulate 3D?

    3D?

I accidentally left my 3D enabled when I turned on The Old Republic today, and noticed that it certainly tried to display in 3D, and when I turned on my glasses the menu was 3D, and the images of my character were a layer above the rest of the menus... just there were two of them, and they wouldn't resolve into one proper picture. The preferences didn't have a 3D section, does anyone know if there's a way to set the 3D to display properly? I'm new to the 3D world. I'm using an Alienware m17x, with windows 7, the Nvidia 560m, and, um... probably everything else I need to make 3D work. I watched a certain movie with Johnny Knoxville and company in 3D earlier today, and that worked.
  9. Thanks Garv. I was losing my mind searching the map for my objective marker. Got stuck on a couple rocks too... suddenly Alderaan seems like the buggiest planet in the Galaxy.
  10. I call that "jizzeling" As in "You just jizzeled my kill!" (when you're about to kill an enemy and someone else takes the kill) or "you just jizzeled me!"
  11. Rog. Thanks guys. Couldn't find something, wasn't sure if that was because I just couldn't find it, or if it didn't exist yet. I can wait for a character sheet if it means the developers are going to keep fixing the broken bits first.
  12. Is there a way/webpage where I can view my character sheet online? My friend plays WOW, he showed me his character page online, if you know what I'm talking about, is there one of those for TOR?
