  1. So, back when we were all dissecting every update and video and Gnost-Dural update (remember those?), the biggest question mark of the entire SWTOR story was the peace agreement. The Emperor had just sacked Coruscant, had the Republic and the Jedi on their heels, and then sued for peace. No one knew why, because he was (is?) such a mysterious figure. We entered the game in this period of Cold War. Now the story has progressed. War, obviously, has returned, and now the Sith are the ones on the brink of losing. The Emperor himself is, let's say, indisposed. Revan has returned, the Hutts have been eliminated as a galactic power, and the Dread Guards have withdrawn from the Empire and attacked both sides. Suffice it to say that a lot has happened. But we never learned anything about the Emperor's reasoning on the peace agreement. I think there was something more sinister there, a "grand plan" that has been delayed by all the setbacks, but is still in place. The only thing in the story that could potentially explain the truce is Revan's claim that he could manipulate and affect the Emperor's decisions, but he made it seem like his efforts were the reason for the 300 year delay between KOTOR2 and SWTOR, not for the recent break in the war. Chapter 3 of the Jedi Knight storyline also deals with the Emperor's plans, but IIRC they are centered on creating strife and war; seemingly the opposite of the relative peace created by the Treaty of Coruscant. So; thoughts? What does the Emporer have up his sleeve? Anything? Does he even have sleeves?
  2. Could someone enlighten me as to why Surge would be prioritized over Crit? OP is saying (and I agree) that Power would be first choice, and accuracy up to 100%, but why advocate 0 crit but more surge? Wouldn't a balance of Crit/surge be more efficient? Not questioning the math, just genuinely wondering.
  3. Garbageman- Kill every single possible enemy in XXX flashpoint/operation. Hope you like trash pulls. The Show Must Go On- Defeat Bonethrasher in Karagga's Palace without allowing the band members to die. Plan B- Defeat a boss in a Nightmare Level Operation after reviving 3 or more raid members during the fight. (Not sure if there'd be a way to track this with out of combat rezzes, but I'm just throwing it out there.)
  4. I've been looking for a thread like this for ages. My guild is just going through EC NM, and while I'm competitive on the parsers, I can never seem to beat our resident sentinel. Granted, she's a damn good player and sentinels are deadly in good hands, but I'd like to push closer to her than I am. I'm just now picking up the EWH relic over my old matrix cube and wanted to confirm that Boundless ages (+power) would be preferable to a dmg proc relic. I've got the dread guard kinetic dmg proc relic in my other slot. And I'd love an answer to a question Redcorn posed earlier: Does anyone actually get a DPS boost from using Mortar Volley in a boss fight? Plasma grenade maybe, and I'll start working that into my rotation with Reserve Powercell, but I'd think Mortar Volley is too expensive to warrant the use. And as a final note I'm pushing 300 crit rating atm (290, I believe) and from what I've gathered from this thread already thats a bit high. My surge and accuracy are at good levels though (291 and 279 respectively) so should I switch out some crit for alacrity? Once 2.0 hits that may come in handy.
  5. Personally, I wouldn't. Most upgrades can be bought with credits instead of Cartel coins off the GTN. I'd get some of the most important ones (Armor, lasers, maybe shields and concussion missiles). The Improved EMP blast can be had for 100 daily comms, too. I enjoy space missions, but only bought one set of grade 7 parts when they came out. The rest of my alts make do with a mix of grades 5-7 and its definitely viable. Some of the harder missions (Looking at you, Thanium Disruption) might be a bit of a headache but if space isn't a priority for you then it's not a problem. And if it is, just buy all the parts. Maybe buy one with cartel coins and the rest off the GTN. As a sidenote, the grade 7 beam charger is currently bugged. It actually makes your lasers worse (like a lot worse. 30 damage instead of 200) So just buy the grade 5 beam charger instead for now, which is fine.
  6. Same with slicing on Swiftsure. High pop server, which means demand is relatively high, but the high number of other slicers putting stuff on the GTN has killed prices. You can still sell schems decently, but trying to sell the lvl 6 augment mats is a joke. That, combined with the recent "Lets make all credit lockbox slicing missions yield a net loss" stealth nerf, makes slicing sadface.
  7. Just wanted to add my support to the (admittedly low) hope for a dev response. If credit box missions don't return what you put into them, why bother? I admit that I haven't done the math, but my experiences yesterday showed that even with crits it didn't even out. Great idea to reduce inflation, I guess?
  8. I'm sure this wasn't intended maliciously by the evil devs, as they cackled maniacally and rubbed their hands together. They intended for them to be mirrors. But these are definitely advantages, and they are definitely skewed for the Empire. I'd really like to hear from them saying "Oh yeah, that alderaan turret thing? Our bad bros. We're gonna get that fixed, promise, but we've got a LOT of things to fix, so it might not happen today or tomorrow. Same goes for the balance issues. Much love." I'd be perfectly happy with that. The lack of comments makes me sadface, though.
  9. Yep. I don't mean to overly generalize, but the kind of player that abused the system yesterday is probably the last player I want to get crazy pvp gear. I'm sure many of those people were rational, kind people who just took advantage of an opportunity. But some of them were straight up ******es. The nice people will take a hit as well, but because they're decent people deep down they'll get over it.
  10. First friend: trooper vanguard, acts as the tank for the group. During combat, is strictly business and military professionalism. Genius bruiser archetype: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GeniusBruiser Second friend: Well I WOULD say Imperial agent but I'm guessing you'll all be on the same side so smuggler, scoundrel. Not sure what spec, but I'll leave that to you. Clearly he takes slicing as a crew skill. Can have him accidentally blow somebody away with that scattergun smugglers get, and be surprised at the results himself. Third friend: Jedi knight, guardian DPS. Also can act as off-tank. To first friends military professionalism, he just loves combat. He has fun with it. I'm thinking a Gimli (LOTR) type character. But bigger. Fourth friend: If you want him to be bad, you just described a bounty hunter to me. Clearly a mercenary spec, loves both his pistols and keeps them in tip-top shape. If he's on your side, Commando trooper. Named his mini-gun "Vera". Idk why, but I had a decent amount of fun thinking all this up. Hope your story comes out well.
  11. Not sure what level you're at. But by 27 (where I currently am) 100 credits is often less than the cost of a speeder taxi. In other words, pocket change. I'd be more than willing to drop 100 creds on a jukebox song.
  12. Republic ranks is a banner in the fort garnik. It's by an arch near the cantina.
  13. And remember, it isnt YOU going into the dark seedy underworld to get stuff. It's your companion. Now, my Jedi is only level 10 and I don't know their companions, but I assume there's at LEAST one shady smuggler type. That makes plenty of sense. Like Obi-wan in episode II, when he asked Dex for information about that dart thing. Kinda.
