  1. Then I would suggest they do a thorough search while they change it.

I know thats not happening but please don't pretend it's harder than it actually is. If they can kill off 3 servers and get them adjusted to what is possibility one of the stupidest server names ever, then they could change it.

    They simply choose not to.

its possible, but hardly worth the effort. Also the effort is not trivial and has risk. If I was them, I would not do it.

  2. the alliance alerts are optional content. You should do them if you like the companion associated with them. As far as CXP stuff like dailies. up to you. The story itself does not need any of that to continue. So if you like the story, just keep on playing it. The rest will still be there when you are done.
  3. Well, rather than constantly announcing and moving it from day to day, they should announce it after it is fixed. That doesn't mean the days between have to be filled with silence. Bioware can and probably should be communicating more anyway.

From a new player point of view, it does sort of look unprofessional.

I am sorry you hear it that way. I hear a company giving us their best estimate and if not making it, moving to next best estimate. That level of transparency in my mind is a good thing. The work behind the scenes is the same. They have internal targets and fall backs. Why not share? See no downside.

  4. I guess you are not an IT professionel then, since you don't understand that bug fixing in a hectic manner/environment is set to fail and might cause even new issues.

I am an IT professional, and I completely disagree. This is exactly how they should handle do it. Test and launch with first available release window after code fixed. Deploy-able software on the shelf does not benefit company or customer.

  5. I guess this is a friction point.

I would like to see GS be more alt friendly. Ideally I would like all GS points to be legacy wide. If this is too much then I suggest something along one or more of these approaches.

1- Allow points to be moved to a legacy bank at some amount less than 100% conversion

2- All ship mastery to apply legacy wide

3- create a new currency that accrues legacy wide

4- have companion unlocks apply legacy wide

    Thanks for the topic.

  6. You guys are trying, and we can see that. But trying isn't enough. Things need to happen.

The playerbase doesn't want another 3-6 months of PvP Mercenary overpopulation.

The playerbase doesn't want half assed class changes.

Why? Because there is only one way you can do balance right. And that is by taking everything into account.

Both DPS/HPS/DTPS as well as the cooldowns and abilities that they are intertwined with.

Just.. if you're going to do something, please take your time and do it right the first time so it doesn't turn into a mess again? Please? Sorry for hijacking this thread, I got rolling and couldn't stop.

Not sure your background, so don't take this badly, but incremental change is always a better solution dealing with complex systems. So really I agree with both of you. take their time and follow a process. we will all be more thankful in the long run.

  7. Fine wait till 5.3, but make it a legacy unlock as advertised and not a character unlock.

I am not following this. It has always been a legacy unlock on the Character perk menu. Nothing about speeder mounts has ever been account wide. Disappointed it is not working on all mounts yet but I did not think this was misleading.

  8. Ahh now I understand.

I have had to defend my position on this quite vigorously on this thread which I accept, its not a popular one.

What I did not expect was to have to endure the insults and pettiness, maybe that was naive of me but if I answered you in a sour manner then that is why and I apologize for this.

You know your position is unpopular, chose to state it. Ok, good for you. why defend it. You will not convenience anyone. I would not bother defending it. You had your say, now others having theirs. Way it goes.

However, for what it is worth, given the exposure I am sure someone at bioware read it, so they may or may not agree with you, but I am sure you were heard. So from my perspective, looks like a mission accomplished for you.

    Cheers

  9. Did Bioware fix this? or did they go home and leave it unfixed? (I only ask because there is no definitive answer in the dev tracker)

It was 'maintenance' for crying out loud how did they possibly break something there was no patch.

I have bitraider client and it works for me. Don't know if this impacts everyone or just a few folks however. But no problems for me.

  10. This contest is pure crap. You can cheat to win. You know people are cheating and they will be the winner. You pretty much failed to introduce a fair contest. Instead of something simple. Complete the run in under 15 minutes and you are entered to win the grand prizes, you did this. Now you are stuck.

You should cancel the contest before you get your company sued in an easy to win class action law suit. The approximate value of the contest x the registered users. That is the ligation you are opening you parent company up to and don't think for a second someone cannot do the math.

I've never seen such a poor contest.

Can you sue someone over content you do not actually own....Good grief

Don't like the contest, fair enough but seriously......

  11. This is not a hostage threat at all, its a request for communication that will help me in determining whether or not I stay. I dont have anything they care about to hold hostage as im sure my sub dollars wont be missed much by myself. I'm not threatening to leave im asking for a reason to stay.

I dont think it would be too much to ask to see a simple list of release dates planed for chapters, seasons, new raids or fps. A very simple bullet list with what they intend for the foreseeable future of the game including chapters, seasons, operations, FPs, and PvP content as well as possible new events and an event calendar that goes past the next month.

There is zero chance they dont have something like this with at least the broad strokes outlined, and all im asking is that they share it. Give me a reason to keep paying my sub.

Your are not going to get a detailed list of features and with dates. The develop cycle does not really lend itself to long term specific estimates. Most software company work in sprints. If an item cannot be completed in the committed sprint for whatever reason it slides to the next available sprint. You will note they do occasionally tell you planned fixes for upcoming incremental release. That can be shared as it has been prioritized and committed to a sprint. However, even that does not ensure it makes it to live.

You are correct there is undoubtedly a short, medium and long term plan. The medium to long term plans are probably planned just to a Quarter. That type of planning is at a high level and could easily include 10,000 hours or more planned. That is not information any sane business would share. So you get vague promo reveals that do not lock in specific expectations. And that is for the best btw.

Does not help you I know, but that is the nature of software development. I had a developer tell me once when I pressed for more concrete data for our senior executives - "code is not bricks, and we are not bricklayers".
