  1. This may actually be a case where staying silent would have been better. I'm glad they're honest, because it means I can make a good sound business decision and unsub with no hard feelings. But it is an interesting strategy on BioWare part to give its subscribers good reasons to unsub. One almost thinks its intentional.
  2. Agreed with everything you've said. Especially the part about WoW having more story recently...I love the approach Blizzard has taken with MoP by unveiling a little bit of the story with each patch and tying that into the new dailies areas (a new one with each update). It's genius. All of the zones in the game post-Cataclysm all tie into the overall storyline. I really enjoyed it. Meanwhile all we've gotten out of BioWare since release is...Makeb which is essentially another generic planet with another generic story. Wait...which one of these is the story-driven game? It will be funny when even Zenimax shows up BioWare on the story-telling front.
  3. That's fair. And I do give Eric props, because I don't think we would have even got this pathetic showing without him. He really is a good community manager. It's too bad that he's given nothing to work with from the decision makers there in Austin. He has to keep absorbing the flak for their disconnect.
  4. It's not a road map. Saying "No new content until August, enjoy some recycled OPs" is not a road map. Normally I would agree with you, and I think they did a good job with the video road map they released last year around this time. That's an actual roadmap worthy of praise.
  5. I don't disagree with you... I just can't help but think how sad and pathetic these little content "teasers" like what they posted today would look if they couldn't hype the events...oh wait, the teasers are already sad and pathetic.
  6. I think that it's because it's the equivalent of saying "nothing new until August". What percentage of the playerbase raids in this game? If it's as low as other games, then only a fraction of the playerbase cares about Nightmare mode for recycled OPs. And I don't think anyone really gives a crap about a 5% experience boost. Basically the only new content from SEPTEMBER of last year to AUGUST of this year (essentially ONE FULL YEAR) was Makeb that everyone had to pay for.
  7. Agreed completely. I laugh at the people who defended 2.1 by saying 2.2 was going to be the real update...lol.
  8. /YAWN Yeah...if my account weren't already cancelled, it would be now. As expected, 2.2 is small and disappointing. Nothing interesting or exciting coming down the pipeline except more recycled PVE endgame. Not even new PVE stuff, just recycled. I'm sorry, that's not enough to keep me around for the rest of the year. 3 double XP weekends? Really? Did you miss the part where people were requesting a way to make double XP permanent? See ya SWTOR, I'll check back in 2014, maybe the next DLC will be here by then (but probably not).
  9. I have unsubbed. Not necessarily because of 2.1, although it certainly didn't win me back. I've unsubbed for lack of content. Makeb was pitiful. I'll keep an eye on how this game develops, but I have serious doubts about the current team's ability to produce meaningful content in any reasonable timeframe. I suspect 2.2 will be disappointing.
  10. ...that's okay, it's not like you guys released an "expansion" that increased the level cap to 55. And it's not like you weren't already planning to reuse the Gree event frequently. Who could have foreseen that you would need to update the Gree event for level 55? What are you guys psychic or something? Add that to the list of "Who makes these decisions?"
  11. It's interesting to see you post this. I think a lot of the disconnect between BioWare Austin and the subscribers can be traced to this mindset right there. There's seems to be a serious lack of thinking things through from a customer service side. That then wastes everyones time and loses you guys subscribers when you then have to eat crow and go back and do the thing you said you weren't (or couldn't) do. Two examples jump out at me are Revan's chestpiece and the free month only for level 50s. Had either of those two things been thought all the way through, the backlash on them could be predicted. Same thing for this collections issue. Yes it works from a financial and technical point of view, but did no one seriously consider the potential for backlash from a customer's perspective?
  12. The date for 2.2 has to be just a coincidence. I cannot envisage a scenario where they would purposefully release a major content patch on the same day as E3. I suspect two things: I suspect 2.2 will be delayed, and I suspect 2.2 will be disappointing to those hoping 2.2 will make up for the tacky 2.1 patch.
  13. They do. This forum is just flooded with die-hard "BioWare does no wrong because Star Wars" types. And yes, EA gutted the team at BioWare so yes it is taking longer to develop things like FPs, WZs, and OPs and we get 8 hour DLC with a recycled endgame instead of real expansion packs.
  14. The continual stream of bad decision making on the part of BioWare Austin is troubling to me, and that goes beyond a single patch. Lest we forget, it was only a week ago that they said with all honestly and sincerity that they were not going to fix a bugged chest piece that people paid real money for because some people might like the bug. I don't know how to call that anything other than a stupid decision. Why do they have to wait to be told how stupid that is and then the next day change their minds. They seem like reasonable and intelligent folks there in Austin, shouldn't they be able to see how stupid that is? Why can't they see how stupid so much of this patch is? It requires a firestorm in the forums to see that? That doesn't seem like a smart business plan to me.
  15. Bizarre implementation where you basically have to rely on BioWare to create the exact color combination you want and hope it isn't sold at an inflated price on the GTN, or play the random dye Cartel Market lottery in the hopes you get a dye you like. You know because that's more logical than....just letting people decide what colors they want and...selling them those colors. Classic example of entrenched developers taking an easy concept and waaaay over-complicating it in the end satisfying no one.
  16. Eric then backs off on that statement later in the thread and says 2.2 might still have cartel market stuff in it. I don't think we will ever have another major content patch that isn't at least to some degree a cartel market update.
  17. Yes, everyone knows you can buy them off the GTN, you repeating that doesn't make the system any less dumb. Plenty of MMOs have figured out how to implement armor-dying systems in perfectly reasonable and monetized formats. Please stop defending BioWare's stupid decisions.
  18. Just curious, what would make you think that was what the OP was asking for?
  19. Wow I made it to the thread about random dyes, but this is even stupider on BioWare's part. Seriously, there's a flaw in BioWare Austin's collective decision making process, especially as it relates to the cartel market. It started on day one with all the insane F2P restrictions and it has continued all the way up to this. /signed
  20. Wait wait...the dyes are random? That's almost as stupid as refusing to fix the Revan chestpiece. Once again I am left bewildered at the decision making process there in Austin.
  21. Andryah, I think you have a reading comprehension problem. It's okay, I'll give you time to reread the thread. Let me know when you hit on where you took a wrong turn. I'll wait. EDIT: Alright I'm done waiting. Since March. Since March.
  22. Not sure what you mean here. If you mean Makeb, then I'm fine with Makeb. I love Makeb. Keep the Makeb's coming. Just stop shoving the cartel market down my throat with every damn patch. I get it, people want to pay $12 to look like Jolee Bindo, but I want real content. And yes, I want appearance-only content that is integrated into the game that you don't have to buy off of the cartel market. Why should the artist that are assigned to the cartel market not also be creating art assets for the main game? Why can't a subscribing player earn a Jedi Guardian set that doesn't have a hood up? WHY? Why do you have to pay CC for that?
  23. I'm fine with the Cartel Market, I understand why it exists, I understand its a necessary evil. What I'm sick of is BioWare's constantly harping on it. Every interview they do, every patch note they post, every question they answer, it's cartel market, cartel market, cartel market. And finally we have patch 2.1 that is literally 95% cartel market related. It should be called 2.1 Revenge of the Cartel Market. Cartel Market, Cartel Market, Cartel Market. I'm sick of the Cartel Market. Buying Makeb for a straight-up money transaction was refreshing by comparison.
  24. Is that before or after the subscriber discount? Oh who cares, we get a monthly allowance so everything is totally A-OK!
  25. I'm sorry, but this patch sickens me. I understand subscribers get a monthly allowance, but this kind of non-stop pimping of the cartel market pushes me (and I'm sure a few others) over the edge. I want to see real content that is integrated into the game, not bought off of an exchange.
