  1. The problem in the healing is when your in a pug and people tend to just attack everybody at random. Now i wont say this always happens there are plenty of people that instantly jump any healer that they see and then it works.

However i will plead guilty on being a dps sorc and maybe not the best i am able to bring on the pain on a single target. Healing sorcs or councilors i can take on by myself will take some time but easily dealt with if someone helps out.

However troopers/powertechs that are healers... good god i had fights with some of them and in 1vs1 situation its close to ridiculous you cant bring them down fast enough unless they make a mistake. Even when fighting someone like that with 2 people will take considerable time so if you have someone like that and a secondary healer then its just extremely annoying not impossible like some make it out to be but holy mother of god it can become frustrating.

Now it is true that if a team has 2 or even more healers they will lack in the dps department however because of so many heals flying around it takes to much time to kill someone and eventually the dps that they do have will wear your team down. Now this is with one team not having near as much healing as the other team. However i have been in fights where both teams had equal amount of healing but both lacked in dps and it just goes on forever noone dies.

So yeah sometimes it does cross my mind that something as beefy as a powertech or trooper feels a bit ridiculous with the amount of tank and healing they can do. But its far from impossible but you will simply need some team effort but some good dps aswell.

I for one would like the marks the ops leader can make on enemy target to change from the symbols we have now to numbers from 1 to 8 atleast so ops can tell a pug team to follow the numbers and thus make it easier to coordinate a pug group.

  2. Played eve for 5 years and aion for a year and a half i am used to open world pvp, eve in my opinion is still the most ruthless game you can play in terms of pvp but thats another story. However to answer your question why people like open world pvp. Well i think everybody will have a different opinion on the matter, for me just having the idea that someone can and will attack me while i am just minding my own business just gets me going. Sure enough i have fallen prey aswell only to feel the need to go back out there and get my vengeance.

And i will admit that does not always go so well since some people simply know how to play the game they are playing. As too why people zerg... If you ask me its just human nature we seek strength in numbers and lets face its not like someone has won a war alone.

I myself are guilty of this aswell, infact in both eve and aion if you went out alone chances of you running into a group of 5 or more were more then likely so i never understood the whole concept of 1vs1 since it rarely happens. But also i enjoyed playing with other people and having good laughs on teamspeak, and just having moments where we started with 5 people and ended up in a huge war with 50vs50 or on eve this number would go in the hundreds its the unpredictability thats so awesome about open world pvp.

However in the cases it would happen and swtor is no different. Alot of people that are alone and see me or anybody else coming at them ALONE tend to turn around and run like they are being chased by 60 guys and wont engage unless someone from their side all of sudden pops up and helps them.

On swtor i had some really odd moments where i was put in a 2vs1 and got one of the people almost down and the other guy just takes off leaving his buddy for me to finish.

I mean once your in combat whats the point in trying to run away in a game like swtor. Its not like there is a strike against you you don't lose anything do people really dislike losing that much. If you lose get back up learn from it and think ahead and replay the skirmish in your head to see if you could have done something differently and use that in other engagements, well atleast that is how i have been doing it for years.

  3. You know what frustrating trying to get your gear for 3 weeks then a friend comes along who has turned 50 aswell has not done near the same amount of pvp while getting to 50.

Then starts collecting his gear aswell and in one and a half week he has every piece... No i kid you not he had EVERY single champion piece with one and a half week. Seriously i am happy for the guy but it still does not make the system fair in any way.

Why do devs always think people like the whole rng factor :/

  4. Some classes can give you a very good edge in huttball, however what seems to happen alot is that when you have the ball there is noone around to throw it to.

People tend to stay near you and kill everybody thats coming at you. This is all fine and all but they will never kill 5 guys in time before they put me on the ground. I rather have atleast 1 or 2 persons run in front of me to who i can throw the ball and keep the ball moving forward. You dont have to be any of the classes that can run or jump but it keeps the game going.

As a sorc i always position myself infront of the carrier so i can pull him towards me or give him the oppertunity to throw the ball to me.

  5. The only thing i think people should consider doing before starting to pvp is getting to 14 and atleast have sprint.

After that i really don't care, i cant count the times i have seen lower level players out damage level 50 players. However all the whining 50's will get their wish and their will be no more low level players. I hope these same people also will realize they will have to fight for every win since no more steam rolling over the other team because they had lower levels.

The only think i personally am a bit concerned about are the queue times that might come up when the 50 bracket takes place.

  6. Oke my main is a sorc and i dont consider myself some elite pvper however a sorc in the right hands is something that can really ruin your day.

However, ANY class in the right hands can ruin your day. The times i had ops come up behind me and kill before i have a idea whats going on, or BH's that just nuke me to dead with only a very short window for me to go like... OMG RUN..

I will admit that most melee classes that i get in a 1vs1 seem to favor me a lot more then them. But also this is not always true, I have fought against people that completely steam rolled me. DPS sorcs allthough they have speed and their shield are quite squishy high dps players can kill them quite effectively. If you are a melee class and you cannot kill a dps sorc then consider changing tactics or rethinking your talents. Because i can say from experience their are plenty of melee classes that are specced and have the skill to take me down in a heartbeat.

  7. I never seen it happen on my server and i will admit when i am on my 50 and i do see low levels i will think by myself ... o boy this might get ugly but some low levels can really do good dps or even healing. The real problem lies in the fact they can be taken out quite quickly by the geared lvl 50's but they still served a purpose as cannon fodder.

I know quite harsh but it does give me and other level 50's to beat on the other team without being targeted. Especially when lower levels come in with a tank specced class.

Not to mention i have seen low level players do more damage then some of the 50's i have been grouped with. So no don't give in to 50's harassing you, if you know your class and know how to properly play it you can still be alot of help.

However my personal opinion is that people under level 14 should stay away from pvp so that when they do join at 14 they will atleast have sprint. And even then people have the right to do what they want to do but sprint is really one of those skills you really need.

Just a few more days and 50's will be forced to fight only against each other which is a good thing but i do feel the queue times will sky rocket and in my case as a empire player i will be thrown into huttball more then i really want to.

  8. Oke granted swtor has some major flaws in it that should be addressed but programming aint simply about adjusting a line of code here and there and it magically gets fixed.

However could we please drop the whole "new mmo should be perfect from the start attitude". How fair is it to compare a new game to wow since most people seem to do that.

Wow was announced in 2001 and released in 2004 so thats already 3 years of development, and its still around today with countless updates giving the game a 10 year development span. Now you are telling that new mmo's should get the same attention in the first 3 years of initial development as wow has gotten over the past 10 years .....

It simply does not work that way, there are deadlines to meet and at some stage money needs to start flowing in order to continue development. Give bioware a chance, see how they are going to deal with the game and its community in the first 3 to 6 months. Even then you cant expect them to chance/fix everything but if they start putting up big patches and start to expand the game and clean up the bugs that now hunt the game atleast you will know its being worked on.

  9. Quite a good argument.

Pretty much agree with it since most people seem to have very high standards now a days.

I barely played wow for my own reasons but i started at Anarchy Online which predates wow quite a bit. Compared to how mmo's are created today o boy we really had it hard back then.

But if i look at a quite a large group of people they quickly compare things for new mmo's to wow, a game that has been around for 7 years. It did not start out the way it is now and all the work blizzard put into it has been spread out over 7 years. How can anybody expect a new mmo to be released with everything working or have all the features you have grown accustomed to.

Bottemline is, wow spoiled alot of players and i aswell find quite a few things far from perfect in swtor but i try to keep a open mind and see what BW is going to do with the game. I will agree that swtor cannot stay the way it is now it really needs to evolve how thats going to happen is up to BW and i hope they get it right.

  10. I have been pvp'ing in swtor since i was lvl 14 and so far i have not seen to much complications. Granted along the way i was put up against teams with like 3+ lvl 50's on their side and you really notice the difference. Now that i am 41 i can take on 50's that are normally geared and stand my ground but some have already some very good pvp gear and then things become a bit more complicated it not undoable but a fight takes quite some time and from a 1vs1 standpoint its really nice but the bottemline is he/she is taking all my time from helping my team.

But i do agree that a seperate bracket for the 45~50 maybe even the 40~50 should be introduced at some stage. Imagine once the majority reaches 50 and starts coming in with pvp gear and some poor level 20 decides he wants to go and pvp with his buddies only to come out against a team decked with 50's in pvp gear..... I don't think that such a good idea not to mention unfair. Sure they will be boosted but its simply not going to save them from people geared for pvp. Even if the 50's suck they simply will have the gear advantage and will takes ages to kill.

  11. Not to mention that most mmo's that have pvp incorporated have classes to counter another certain class. I never played wow for reasons i wont go into right now, but in aion this is the case aswell certain classes simply run from other certain classes because they are their counters.

If this was not true everybody could in theory roll the same class and not having to worry about to fulfill his role within a battle and look up the classes he is best suited to take on. Which in my opinion would make for a dull fight.

Now most games have a duel system installed so if you find people that want to have a 1vs1 you could always use that. It would be a idea to have arena's where only 2 people can enter and have your 1vs1 aswell except this time you would not have to ask around to get your 1vs1 fight. But from what i have seen these 1vs1 arena's do seem to be quite empty most of the time so one must wonder why that is.

  12. Well i became 41 today and though well lets check ilum out.

    Hmmmm kinda empty aint it...

I already read a few things about it last week that it was empty and even today i did not go there thinking i would get to see alot of people. It takes time for people to get to 50 and start thinking about stuff like mass pvp.

But i honestly dont know how much republic stands against the empire on my server but i would say less since i tend to end up against the same people in the warzone's.

Played eve for 5 years but we cant really compare the gameplay on eve to any mmo like this since fighting over certain parts can take days.

However played aion for 1 and half years aswell, granted there are some terrible flaws in the system but there are definitely some things that if done correctly would be awesome. Maybe looking at the mmo fps genre aswel could give the devs some ideas, look at planetside or even globel agenda. Some of those aspects would certainly help any game that has pvp implanted.

Anyway I know the game is just out and mmo simply tend to start quite empty so far i do enjoy myself however i had the same problem on aion aswell. I simply dont run much instance's the only thing i found myself doing was roaming the map looking for a fight with other players.

  13. I like to pvp and sure i will do my best to get the better gear for it. However what your saying is the same **** i saw happening in aion.

If you wanna steamroll the people that dont have pvp gear yet and scare all pve'ers out of the game go play aion. Sure you and everybody else that does pvp alot will get the gear faster but i like the idea of everybody being able to get the gear they need to be active in pvp.
