  1. It would be nice to hang out on Alderran. :) But I guess.... the question is... how do you make that Planet or City a hub. The thing about the Fleet that makes it a focal point is that it is the launch point for flash points and Ops. So... you would need that ported over.

Other thoughts. Planet hubs could also have Guild homes. A variation on Capitol ships, but on a home planet. Minigames could be big draw. Nar with actual working Casinos would draw players there for example.

I know this has been mentioned before, but it is worth bringing it up again.

For those that have been requesting player housing, I think the going to F2P might mean that could happen sooner rather then later .. or never.

Player housing with its associated prices, furniture sales, expanded hook points, etc and weekly rents is the type of thing that would be a money maker in a F2P model.

  2. You do know that those who moved voluntarily may have been moved again? I moved from from a low pop server to a new destination server only to be moved again in this week's server merges.

Yeah, I know. I moved voluntary myself and lost 4 names when I did that. This time I was force moved and lost 1 name.

I'm just saying that the millions of character names on all the servers for accounts with no active subscription should not have any priority over character names for people still here playing and paying a subscription.

  3. For a start they should have given every account with an active subscription priority over any account with no active subscription. There were over 2 million active accounts at launch and now they say 500,000 so there are 1.5 million times whatever average number of characters of names taken that may not ever be used again.

I believe most (but not all) of the people still playing took advantage of the free transfers over the past few months. Most (but not all) accounts left on the old origin servers were accounts of people not playing anymore.

This last server merger brought in all of those ~1.5 million dead accounts and all their character names.

But then maybe they did give priority to active accounts. I don't know all the criteria they used.

  4. Rift however, suffering from the very same market forces, is incentivizing the heck out of it's player base and has for a long time. Latest example: free expansion with a one year subscription commitment. Different approach to the same problem, so let's not pretend otherwise. In reality Trion's desperate avoidance of a freemium model is very likely because they have another MMO in development and being a small company they will be unable to launch it if they set a Freemium precedent with Rift. Bioware has no such fears for a number of very valid business reasons.

    .

This is true. The initial money can be quite large for a new game or expansion with a couple million $40-60. I don't think too many MMO's start as F2P, but if there isn't any plan to release a new version where you can sell copies of the cient at $60, F2P makes sense. GW2 is B2P but if there wasn't going to be a GW3 then they would be F2P.

  5. Not quitting. Just taking a hiatus for a few months. As a solo player I need more "fluff" as someone put it in another thread. Leveling and story are great but I need other things to do in game besides leveling. Hopefully I will find a better economy, some additional features in the fall.
  6. Ive been on this forume for about 25 minutes now, and already im seeing moans and groans about SWTOR. Why? Yes this game has its flaws but so does every game! instead of slating and listig the bad stuff, list some positives and some improvements/features youd like to see in the future! for example, i Love the customisation features on Armor, lightsabers, Blasters etc,. But i want to see epic expansions and more mounts! maybe even some animal mounts if its possible, and more and more companions! Dont forget this games still a baby, lets get together and help it develop into a awesome rebellious teenager, not crush it as its learning to walk.

Try to stay out of the General Discussion forum.

  7. SWG had very strong social side, therefore you could take break from killing, relax in cantina, decorate your house, build your city, craft, hang out with friends and actually live your life in star wars universe.

There is no social in SWTOR the only time i see friends and guildies is when doing warzones or flashpoints, there is only kill klill kill kill kill.....

Here you live the story and the moment story ends fun is gone, therefore people want new content all the time because there is nothing else that makes this game fun.

I never played SWG. I was a solo player in WoW but never really liked the dungeon and dragon genre. I lke Star Wars and the leveling here is great. It's just that its all I feel I can do.

I just wish there were other things to do. I know its stupid to many but I did like the fishing, cooking, first aid in WoW plus the special holiday events, etc. The economy was strong there and hopefully some day it will be so here. I'm not sure crafting is worth doing here.

  8. Can someone explain how the number like Armor(20), Mod(24), etc is derived when you display your characters gear?

When I look at a piece of armor it says something like Guardian 10, Guardian 11, etc.

I know I can look at the mods I have installed on my character but I was wondering if I'm missing something obvious about the relationship of the gear level to the rating that show on the character display.

  9. Firstly is the server migration.

Transferred from my origin server to my new one and it is packed. On coruscant there are 130 people playing so you are going through sections of the map with nothing to kill because half a dozen or so people have trampled through there before you.

So my kill ratio is going way down, why have they done this ???

Can understand the need for fuller servers but as mainly a PvE person i do find it hard to play when i cannot kill enough npc'c to level up because there are too many people on the same level as me.

It was bad enough 20 or so people per level but 120 or so is insane!!!

CAN I GO BACK TO A SMALLER SERVER PLEASE!!!

And my second problem is the places where some of these damn datacrons are.

Impossible to get to unless you are superman or something. Spent an hour trying ot get the on in justicar territory and gave up after fall off them pipes for the hundreth time.

Some of use are not graced with perfect hand\eye coordination so please make these easier to get to.

I love it. I had stopped playing for a couple months but now I'm back loving the crowded servers. I'm a PVE'er too but I feel like I'm in an MMO now, not just me wondering through with nary another player in sight. Yeah, once it a while I'll have to wait for a respawn or someone will take the objective while I am fighting but I enjoy seeing many other players much more than a couple inconveniences.

  10. Where do I find how to do a transfer? I had not been on for a couple months and now find Kaas City empty and want to transfer to Canderous Ordo but I don't see a transfer option anywhere. I may have missed some instriuctional post or something.
  11. I think they need to wait till April because they said that "character transfers" are not going to happen because it will be too complicated with the legacy system.

But they also have to provide character transfers for the Oceania users so that has to be done before they implement 1.2.

And they said that the ability to do character transfers even in our current non 1.2 game won't be ready until April. (see threads where people scream about waiting until April for that).

So .. 1.2 doesn't happen until after the character transfers for Oceania.

    Above is my opinion.

  12. But if they stay they support a company that they feel does not support them or their views. I think with a topic as personal as this one can be, as tied to identity, it is not anyone's job here to be the voice of the community. Bioware hurts them, they have a responsibility to their own well-being long before they have a responsibility to effect change.

As I said it is a personal decision. Stay or leave. Everyone has that option.

This particular topic isn't quite the same as a simple game mechanic. I think we can all agree that this is true based on the sheer amount of times the mods have to delete discussion in this thread for political, religious or moral arguments. I don't know how many people are leaving because of this and only this topic, but equating it with other game mechanics while trying to measure how much of an effect it is allowed to have on the person who decides to pay for the game is not entirely fair.

It is just a game mechanic like chat bubbles or the UI. Implying there is some "fairness" issue seems to be making it a social issue and it can't be a social issue because BW has stated that we can't discuss social issues. As a game mechanic the UI, or GTN affect many more people.

  13. He meant why can people. Personally I don't believe that it should be allowed, because they're basically telling us that what we want isn't important.

No I meant "can't". My response was to what I quoted where that person said that "no one has the right to come into this thread and tell them there issue is not important".
